Carl G. Bouse
Carl G. Bouse of Bourbon, Missouri passed away at his
home Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at the age of 90 years.
Mr. Bouse was a life-long resident of the Bourbon area
having been born at Anthonies Mill on November 1, 1914 to Ferd and
Myra (Summers) Bouse.
On April 13, 1940 he was united in marriage to Rosetta
L. Dace at Steelville, Missouri and to this marriage six children
were born. Mr. Bouse was a farmer, raising livestock and some
produce throughout the years. He was known as an honest man who was
respected by many and was involved in several administrative
positions, which included the Bourbon School Board, the Livestock
Boards of Franklin and Washington Counties, various cemetery boards,
4-H and the Wildlife Protective Association Board.
Mr. Bouse was a mentor and personal friend to his
grandchildren whom he taught the skills of hunting and fishing which
he so enjoyed. His legacy will long be remembered and cherished by
his family and friends.
He is survived by four sons; Roger Bouse of Sullivan,
Missouri, Jerry Bouse and wife Pat of Springfield, Missouri, Charles
Bouse and wife Betty of Bourbon, Missouri and Larry Bouse and wife
Catherine of Saratoga, Wyoming; two daughters, Nancy Keeney and
husband Jerry of St. Louis, Missouri and Peggy Farmer and husband
Clyde of Bourbon.
One sister, Geraldine Reiner of Bourbon, 16
grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other
relatives and many friends.
Mr. Bouse was preceded in death by his wife in July of
2003 and also by a brother, Woodrow Bouse, two sisters, Nettie Baker
and Wilma Lee Reed and a daughter-in-law Anna Belle Bouse.
Funeral services were conducted 10 a.m. Friday, October
14, 2005 from the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon, Missouri
with the Rev. Leo Shumaker and Rev. Jerry Keeney officiating.
Interment was in Bourbon Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton
Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
Patricia Fay Hall
Patricia Fay Hall of Cuba, Missouri was born October 9,
1954 in Victorville, California to the union of Jimmie and Hattie
(nee Mayfield) McCallum and passed away on Wednesday, October 19,
2005 in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 51 years and 10 days.
Patricia was united in marriage to Larry W. Hall on
January 19, 1973 and to this union two children were born, David and
Amy.
Patricia was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her father and two nephews.
Those who survive to mourn her passing are her husband
Larry W. Hall, one daughter Amy Hall, one son David Hall, two
precious granddaughters Katelyn Patricia and Victoria Gene Wyss, her
mother Hattie McCallum, four brothers John, Jim, Kenneth and David
McCallum and one sister Vickie Allen.
Patricia was a loving and devoted wife, mother,
grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, relative and
friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation was held Saturday, October 22, 2005 at
Britton Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri from 12-1 p.m.
Graveside service was held Saturday, October 22 at 1:30
p.m. at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Elsie Meridith Kohrman
Elsie Meridith Kohrman nee Rodgers passed away on
Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at The Fountains at Bronson Place Care
Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was 95 years old.
Mrs. Kohrman was born on May 8, 1910 at Jakes Prairie,
Oak Hill twp., Missouri. Her parents were Albert Wallace and Lillie
B. (Spurgeon) Rodgers, who owned and operated a general merchandise
store on their farm property. During WWII, her parents moved to
Owensville.
She attended school at the Jakes Prairie School, Jakes
Prairie Job School and Cuba High School, graduating in the class of
1929. She taught school at the Jakes Prairie School and in schools
of Bourbon. In 1935, Mrs. Kohrman graduated from the University of
Missouri with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Education.
On May 26, 1934, she married in Owensville, Missouri,
George Emmit Kohrman of Knobview twp., Crawford County and
Owensville, Missouri. After her marriage, Elsie Kohrman lived in
Bourbon, St. Louis, Hannibal, and Jefferson City, Missouri before
moving in 1951 to Kalamazoo, Michigan where her husband became Dean
of the School of Applied Arts & Science at Western Michigan
University until he retired in 1974.
Mrs. Kohrman joined the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in
Red Bird, Missouri early in her youth. She has continued to be very
active in many church activities wherever she has lived. Besides her
church, husband and family, her many other activities included
membership in the American Association of University Women,
Daughters of the American Revolution, Kalamazoo Genealogical Society
and was a past president of the University Dames at Western Michigan
University. She also enjoyed hobbies of travel, books, genealogy,
plants and antiques.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her
husband, Dr. George E. Kohrman on December 6, 1997 in Kalamazoo,
Michigan and a brother, Lyndon Travis Rodgers on July 30, 1994 in
Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Surviving are a daughter and two sons and their spouses:
Joan E. (Kohrman) and Stayton Addison of Lenoir City, Tennessee, Dr.
Robert E. and Cordelia (Bingham) Kohrman of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan
and George R. and Darlene (Nelson) Kohrman of Portage, Michigan.
She is survived by six grandchildren and their spouses;
Stayton, Jr. and Katherine (Peatman) Addison of Atlanta, Georgia,
Rodger and Julie (Hernandez) Addison of Houston, Texas, Cordelia
(Kohrman) and George Squire of Battle Creek, Michigan, Robert B.
and Leslie (Ross) Kohrman of Louisville, Colorado, Amy (Kohrman)
and Ryan Hertz of Westchester, Illinois and David G. Kohrman of
Portage, Michigan. She is survived by nine great grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist
Church, 315 W. Michigan Ave., Kalamazoo, Michigan on Saturday,
October 22, 2005 at 2 p.m. with internment later at the Genessee
Prairie Cemetery, Oshtemo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.
Arrangements were by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes,
Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Sharon Lorts
Sharon Lorts of St. James, Missouri passed away on
October 18, 2005 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis,
Missouri. She was 39 years of age.
Sharon was born on September 30, 1966 to her parents
Otis and Donna (Hills) Williams. She was united in marriage to Larry
Lorts on April 25, 1987 at the Broadway Church in rural St. James,
Missouri. To this union two children were born.
Sharon began working at the Rhea Insurance Agency the
week after she graduated from High School. In May of this year she
completed her 20th year working in the St. James office, where she
was the office manager. She received the certified Insurance Service
Representative designation in 2002, recognizing her insurance
knowledge and customer relational skills.
Sharon is survived by her husband Larry Lorts of St.
James, Missouri; two daughters Ashley and Whitney Lorts of the home;
parents Otis and Donna Williams of St. James, Missouri; one sister
Vicki Bouse of Cuba, Missouri; father-in-law Jesse Lorts of St.
James, Missouri; one sister-in-law Betty Birkner and husband Rick of
St. James, Missouri; one brother-in-law: Gary Lorts and Chris
Wojtasic of St. James, Missouri.
One niece Stephanie Birkner; four nephews Brandyn Bouse,
John Birkner, Justin Lorts and Dylan Lorts; four uncles Denzil Hills
and wife Colleen, Dennis Hills and wife Suzy, Arthur Williams Jr.
and wife Peggy and John Williams and wife Charlotte; four aunts Lena
Belle Vogeler and husband Austin, Lela Brewster and husband James,
Laverne Sargent and husband Joseph, and Ruby Blair; 41 cousins; and
numerous friends.
Preceding her in death is her grandparents Herman and
Lois Hills, Arthur and Pearl Williams; mother-in-law Rosemary Lorts;
uncles David Hills Sr. and Jim Spilman; and one cousin Carolyn
(Vogeler) Yanskey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21, 2005 from
2-8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday,
October 22, 2005 at the St. James Christian Church in St. James,
Missouri with Brother Dan Bauder officiating.
Pallbearers were Brandyn Bouse, Doug Williams, J. D.
Williams, Brandon Hills, Ryan Hills, John Birkner, Justin Lorts, and
Dylan Lorts.
Honorary pallbearers were Hal Rhea, Kerry Feeler, Terry
Willliams, Brad Spurgeon, Ray Brandenburger, Loren Cahill, Velmer
Hancock, Rick Birkner, Cary Bouse, Dan DeLuca, Don Licklider, and
Jon Rapp. Burial will be in the family plot in the Miles Cemetery in
rural St. James, Missouri.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Jones
Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Oral R. "Bing" Thompson
Oral R. "Bing" Thompson was born on July 10, 1915 at
Pearl City, Illinois to the union of Levi Wesley and Almeda Inman
Thompson and passed away Saturday, October 22, 2005 at the Missouri
Veterans Home in St. James, Missouri at the age of 90 years, 3
months and 10 days.
On February 18, 1939 Bing was united in marriage to
Dorothy C. Foster at Florissant, Missouri. One son Larry and one
daughter Linda were born to this union.
Bing served from December 1942 - November 1945 as a
Fireman First Class in the Navy during World War II. He was a member
of the Cuba United Methodist Church, VFW and the American Legion.
Bing was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, his
parents, daughter Linda, two brothers Lowell Dale and Walter
Elsworth Thompson and two sisters Edna Buchanan and Luella Mae.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life
are one son Larry E. Thompson and wife Evelyn, two grandchildren Lee
and Kelly, great grandchildren, one brother-in-law Gerald Forys and
wife Marilyn and a host of other relatives.
Bing was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great
grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, relative and friend to
all who knew him and he will be sadly missed.
Visitation was held Wednesday, October 26 from 4-8 p.m.
at the Britton Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri. Funeral services were
Thursday, October 27 at 10 a.m. at the Britton Funeral Home, Cuba,
Missouri.
Interment at Meramec Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Winston Wilburn Trask
Winston Trask, 77, of Sweet Home, Oregon died Friday,
September 23, 2005 at home surrounded by his family and friends
after the long illness.
He was the youngest of eight children born to Spain and
Cay (Halbert) Trask in Steelville, Missouri. His mother died when he
was young and the family moved to Oregon, settling in Sweet Home.
He enlisted in the military serving with the Air Force
during World War II as a military policeman, stationed on the
Philippine Islands.
After returning home, he started work with the Santiam
Logging Company.
He met Jean J. Wilkening and they married in Vancouver,
Washington in 1952.
He continued to work in the woods as a shovel operator
for Duncan & Moore Logging Company and then with McCollum before
becoming disabled and retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, life
member and charter member as well as past ex-alter ruler of the
Sweet Home Elks, member of Sweet Home VFW and past president of the
Santiam Sams RV group.
His favorite enjoyments in life were hunting, fishing,
camping, spending time with his family and friends, and sitting and
playing slots and solitaire on the computer.
He is survived by wife Jean and daughters Sandy Van
Cleave and her husband, John and Deanna Trask of Sweet home; son
Bruce Trask and his wife Vanessa, of Lebanon; sister Alice Palmer of
Sweet Home; brother Gene Trask; seven grandchildren and numerous
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, and
brothers-in-law, Opal Harman and husband Sam, Thelma Burke and
husband Joe; sisters Oma Hicks and Alma Trask (infant). Brothers,
Arthur, Marvin and Spurgeon Trask (as child).
A memorial service and celebration of life was held at
Sweet Home Elks. A private interment was at the Gilliland Cemetery
in Sweet Home, Oregon.
Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel handled the
arrangements.
Virginia Wilkinson
Virginia Wilkinson was born Friday, November 22, 1929,
at Callao, Missouri, a daughter of the late Iona M. Myers (nee
Williams) and Virgil P. Myers.
Virginia departed this life Friday, October 21, 2005 at
Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri, at the age
of 75 years, 10 months and 29 days.
Virginia was united in marriage to Lawrence Eugene
"Larry" Wilkinson on November 23, 1946. Two daughters, Sharon Kay
and Janet Jean were born to this union.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister,
Evahdene Myers Frazee and her husband Larry, of forty-nine years.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her
daughters, Sharon Yowell and Jean Snodgrass of Steelville, Missouri;
five grandchildren, Larry (Heather) Snodgrass of Cape Girardeau,
Missouri, Sherri (Mike) Cornick of Steelville, Missouri, Andrea
Yowell of St. Charles, Missouri, Charles Yowell of St. James,
Missouri and Wesley Yowell of Steelville, Missouri.
Two great grandchildren, Andrew Cornick and Taylor
Cornick of Steelville, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
Virginia worked as bookkeeper for Schwieder Ford for
over 41 years until her retirement in 2002. She was a member of the
Steelville Presbyterian Church. She and Larry enjoyed traveling
across the U.S. on their Harley Davidson motorcycle.
She was a deeply loving and devoted wife, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and
will be sadly missed.
Virginia P. Wilkinson lay in state from 3-8 p.m. Sunday,
October 23, 2005 at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 11a.m. Monday, October 24,
in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Mary Arnold officiating. Musical
selections were provided by organist Deloris Bell and vocalist Mark
Perkins.
Serving as pallbearers were Wayne Blunt, Jack Farmer,
Terry Palmer, Allen Pitts, Kem Schwieder, Bill Ware and Charlie
Yowell. Honorary pallbearer was Warren Frazee.
Committal prayers and interment was in Steelville
Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Bros.
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
