Geraldine V. Goewert
Geraldine V. Goewert (nee Ritchhart) of St. Louis, Missouri and
Steelville, Missouri was born in Farmington, Missouri, to Moorea and Hazel
(Gearhart) Richhart on January 31, 1923 and passed away October 19, 2009
at the age of 86 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman B. Goewert; daughter,
Jacqueline Meyer and grandson, Joseph Wodohodsky.
She is survived by her son, Gordon Dale Paton and fiancé Barbara McCullen
of New Jersey; two granddaughters, Sheri (Paton) Straughn of Kirkwood,
Missouri and Stacie (Paton) Guirl of Des Peres, Missouri; great grand-
children, KC Drew Liam Straughn of Kirkwood, Missouri and Ashley and Alex
Guirl of Des Peres, Missouri; sister, Lorraine Walker of Tallahassee,
Florida; dear friends, Jeanne Snodgrass and Elaine Edwards of Steelville,
Missouri.
Funeral service was Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Chulick Funeral Home,
St. Louis, Missouri.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
Delmar Dewayne Hanks
Delmar Dewayne Hanks of Sikeston, Missouri, formerly of Steelville,
Missouri, was born August 15, 1946 in Steelville to Earl Woodrow Hanks and
Frances Anna (Hopkins) Hanks and passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at
Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 63
years.
On August 16, 1992 in Sikeston, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Kay
Bewley.
Delmar was in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam era where he
earned three Bronze Stars.
He retired in 2006 after many years of being on the road as a truck driver
with PTI in Sikeston. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing at their home
in Wappapello Lake, hunting and most of all loving all of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Frances Hanks; four
brothers, James Hanks, Joe Hanks and wife Alma, Earl Hanks and Gene Hanks
and wife Anita and one grandson, John Edyvean, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Hanks of Sikeston, Missouri; four daughters,
Christina Clark and husband Mark, Lisa Clark and husband Eddy, all of
Fredricktown, Missouri, Becky Dawson and husband Dwight of Oahu, Hawaii and
Mollie Coulter and husband John of Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri; one step son,
Don Bewley and wife Melissa of Dexter, Missouri; three step daughters, Cheryl
Moore and husband Keith of Fulton, Mississippi, Deloris Crocker and husband
Rev. Travis Crocker of Sikeston, Missouri and Crystal Edyvean and husband
John of Bradenton, Florida; three brothers, Jerry Hanks and wife Jettie of
St. James, Missouri, Gary Hanks and wife Sherri of Lohman, Missouri and Mike
Hanks and significant other, Chrissy, of Camdenton, Missouri; three sisters,
Pat Hanks and Debbie Lorraine of Steelville, Missouri and Sharon Thomas and
husband Larry of Linn, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Violet Hanks and Joyce
Hanks of Steelville, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, Kassie Montgomery, Morgan
Montgomery, Wil Clark, Justin Menteer, Kody Menteer, Derrick Dawson, Payton
Coulter, Gus Eby, Owen Bewley and Shelby Moore; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday, October 24, 2009
at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Britton-
Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Travis Crocker
officiating. Special music of “Go Rest High,” “When I Get to Where
I’m Going,” “The Dance,” “I Can Only Imagine”, “If you Only Knew” and
“One More Day” was played. Memories were shared by daughter, Lisa Clark.
Committal prayer and burial with full military honors were conducted by
the U.S. Navy and the St. James VFW in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers were Justin Menteer, Kody Menteer, Derrick Dawson,
Wil Clark, Mark Clark, Paul Hanks and Clem Hanks. Honorary casket bearers
were Don Bewley, Eddy Clark, Gary Hanks, Mike Hanks, Jerry Hanks and John
Coulter.

Steelville, Missouri.
Ruth Hines
Ruth Hines of St. Charles, Missouri, born in Cuba, Missouri to James L.
and Laura Maude Naugle and passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2009,
at the age of 94.
Ruth was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and playing Scrabble.
She was a member of the St. Charles Presbyterian Church, St. Charles,
Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodie J. Hines; sisters, Estelle
Johnson, Gladys Rice, Edith King, and Edna Tompkins and son, James William
Hines.
She is survived by her children, Ruth Anne Hines and Jim Hines;
daughter-in-law, Jan Hines; grandchildren, Kathy Hutcheson and Susan
Silliman; and six great grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until time of service on Saturday,
October 24, 2009 at The Baue Funeral Home in St. Charles, Missouri.
Funeral service was at noon on Saturday, October 24, 2009.
Interment in Kinder Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri.

Missouri.
Joyce Gail Ledbetter
Joyce Gail Ledbetter of Cuba, Missouri was born Friday, June 25, 1937 at
Centerville, Missouri to Chester and Sylvia (nee: Camden) Martin and passed
away Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 72 years,
3 months and 25 days.
Joyce was united in marriage to Lawrence E. “Moe” Ledbetter on
January 26, 1974 at Clayton, Missouri.
Joyce was part of the first group of Meter maids in St. Louis. After living
in St. Louis for many years they moved to Cuba in the mid 1980’s. She worked
for Custom Printing in Owensville for 10 years before going to work at the
Cuba Wal-Mart where she became known as “The Wal-Mart Lady.” Joyce enjoyed
scratch off lottery tickets, playing bingo, the St. Louis Cardinals, trying
out new restaurants, “White Castles”, and in her younger years she enjoyed
fishing, camping and the outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Sylvia Martin;
husband, Moe Ledbetter; infant daughter, Victoria Meyers; granddaughter,
Rene’ Meyers; other relatives and friends.
She is survived by four sons, Jerry Martin and friend Gail Stuart of Cuba,
Missouri, Tony Meyers of Owensville, Missouri, Victor Meyers of Cuba,
Missouri and Patrick Meyers and friend Sue Warner of St. Louis, Missouri;
eight grandchildren, Jennifer Mayberry, Tara and Tim Martin, Vince Meyers,
Sara Proffer, Jennifer and husband Brad Ray, Crystal Proffer and Trinity
Webb; brother, Elmo and wife Vesta Martin of St. Louis, Missouri; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. at the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri with John Breese officiating.
Interment followed at the Asher Cemetery, St. James, Missouri.

Rodney V. Lewis
Rodney V. Lewis was born October 3, 1979 in Maryville, Illinois to Ricky
Lewis Sr. and Wilma (Johnson) Lewis and passed away Wednesday,
October 21, 2009 at his home in St. James, Missouri at the age of 30 years
and 18 days.
Rodney was employed as a dry wall finisher. He loved fishing, football and
just being outdoors with friends and family.
He is survived by his mother, Wilma Lewis of St. James, Missouri; father,
Ricky Lewis Sr. and wife Teresa of O’Fallon, Illinois; brothers, Ricky
Lewis Jr. and wife Terea of O’Fallon, Illinois, Ricky Lewis of Mexico;
children, Victoria, Zachary and Olivia; extended family and many friends.
Visitation was held Saturday prior to service from 9:30-11 a.m.
Funeral services were held Saturday October 24, 2009 at the St. James Chapel
of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Craig Rippy officiating.
Interment was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in rural Crawford County.

Howard W. Monda
Howard Wayne Monda of Cuba, Missouri was born Thursday, January 25, 1940 at
Cuba, Missouri, to Willie “Gus” and Icealine (nee Edgar) Monda and passed
away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Cuba at the age of 69 years, 8 months
and 27 days.
Howard was united in marriage to Doris Jean Geller on April 18, 1959 at Cuba,
Missouri and to this union three sons were born.
Howard worked many years as a truck driver for Ottis Brother’s and then for
West Contracting. He was a member of the Local 840 Union Hall. In his spare
time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, mushroom hunting and just being
outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Icealine Monda; infant
sister, Alice; father-in-law, Harvey Geller; other family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of the home; three sons, Ron and wife
Angel Monda, David Monda and Allen and wife Angela Monda, all of Cuba,
Missouri; four grandchildren, Kori and husband Matthew Zide of St. Louis,
Missouri, Megan Monda of St. Louis, Missouri, Rachel Monda of Branson West,
Missouri and Tyler Monda of Cuba, Missouri; one great granddaughter, Juda
Zide of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters, JoAnn Monda of Naples, Florida and
Nancy and husband Jeff Williams of Holt Summit, Missouri; two brothers, Gary
and wife Betty Monda of Sullivan, Missouri and Paul and wife Joy Monda of
Jefferson City, Missouri; mother-in-law, Marie Geller of Cuba, Missouri;
sister-in-law, Linda and husband Bill Gunn of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives
and friends.
Visitation was Friday, October 23, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at the Britton Funeral
Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Interment followed at the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

Lucy Ann Moore
Lucy Ann Moore nee Nunn of Cuba, Missouri was born on February 1, 1929 to
Sherman A. Nunn and Mamie Marie Alvey Nunn in Williamsville, Missouri and
passed away Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the age of 80 years, 8 months and
21 days.
Lucy married Lemro Moore in Edgar Springs, Missouri in August of 1946 and to
this union seven children were born.
Lucy at one time, worked as a cook for the Midway Motel and U-Save restaurant
in Cuba, Missouri. Her hobbies were sewing, embroidering, and making quilts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Mamie Nunn; sister,
Mary Turner; son, Kenneth E. Moore; grandson, William Moore; brothers-in-law,
Elmer (Rebecca) Moore and Virgil Chronister; and sister-in-law, Rosie
(William) Rueter.
She is survived by her children, Virgil Moore, Vernon Moore, Patricia Moore
and friend Jim Doyle, all of Cuba, Missouri, Tommy (Mary) Moore of
Jacksonville, North Carolina, Charles Moore of Wyoming and Janet Hubbs of
Salem, Missouri; brother, Tommy Albert Nunn of Licking, Missouri; 15
grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Monday, October 26, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. and funeral service
Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Burial at Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

Wanda Lee Schroeder
Wanda Lee Schroeder nee Martin of Millstadt, Illinois was born on Wednesday,
November 2, 1938 in Cherryville, Missouri to Champ Roland Martin and Gustia
Viola Atchison Martin and passed away on Monday, October 19, 2009 at
DesPeres Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 70 years, 11 months
and 17 days.
Wanda owned and operated a bar and grill restaurant for many years. After
retirement, she enjoyed shopping and pampering herself.
She married Robert F. Schroeder on June 15, 2007 in St. Clair County,
Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Champ and Gustia Martin; brothers,
Charlie, Delmar “Red”, Haskell and Joe Martin; sister, Margie Nagle;
brothers-in-law Laddie Bass, Carl Carter and Forest Nagle.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of the home; daughters, Pamela
Antonas and Brenda Novak, both of St. Louis, Missouri; brother, Virgil
(Mary) Martin of Cedar Hill, Missouri; sisters, Emma Jean Bass Carter of
Steelville, Missouri and Billie (James) Chapman of Cuba, Missouri;
grandchildren, Nick (Sarah) Antonas of DeSoto, Missouri, Angela Antonas and
Michael Novak, both of St. Louis, Missouri; great grandchildren, Anthony
and Katina Antonas; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Friday, October 23, 2009 from 10 a.m. until noon and
funeral service at noon Friday, October 23, 2009 at Hutson Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Larry Martin officiating.
Burial at the Schwieder Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.

Debra Jean Scruggs
Debra Jean Scruggs, of Edgar Springs, Missouri, was born November 15, 1950
in Illinois and passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009, at the age of
58 years.
She married Phil Scruggs.
She is survived by her husband, Phil Scruggs of Edgar Springs, Missouri;
one brother, Michael Ray Davis of Union, Missouri; two sisters, Anita Ratliff
of Rolla, Missouri and Dawn Warner of St. James, Missouri; other relatives
and friends.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2009, at the Null and Son
Funeral Home in Rolla, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at the Church of
Christ in Edgar Springs, Missouri with Bro. Don Harris officiating.
Interment was in the Edgar Springs Cemetery.

Missouri.
Geneva Faye Wright
Geneva Faye Wright of St. James, Missouri was born on March 31, 1937 in
Rolla, Missouri to Delmar and Laura (Dean) Ray and passed away on Monday,
October 26, 2009 at the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at
the age of 72 years, 6 months, and 26 days of age.
Geneva Wright was united in marriage to Charles Boyd Wright and he passed
away on August 29, 1986.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Laura (Dean) Ray and
her husband, Charles Boyd Wright.
She is survived by one son, David Wright and wife Sharon of St. James,
Missouri; three daughters, Marilyn Nelson and husband Terry of St. James,
Missouri, Clinda Miller and husband Rex of Holts Summit, Missouri and
Carla Treece of St. James, Missouri; two brothers, Joseph C. Ray and
Robert L. Ray of St. James, Missouri; two sisters, Mable B. Loughridge of
Rolla, Missouri and Phyliss J. Hancock of Salem, Missouri.
Visitation was held Tuesday, October 27, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at the Jones
Funeral Home chapel in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services was conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2009
at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri with Steve Barber
officiating. Pallbearers were Mark Tate, Greg Edwards, Justin Wagler, Carl
Plank, Jorden Foust and Douglas Loughridge.
Burial in the family plot in the Adams Cemetery in rural St. James,
Missouri.
