Belknap nee Eckerle of Cuba, Missouri was born on July 5, 1931 to the union of William Eckerle and Viola (Vontalge) Eckerle and passed away suddenly on October 21, 2003 near Leasburg, Missouri at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 16 days. On May 4, 1951 Dottie was united in marriage to Donald Belknap in St. Louis, Missouri. One son, David, and one daughter, Deborah, were born to this union. They were happily married until Don preceded her in death on December 14, 1999. Dottie was also preceded in death by one grandson, Samuel Pigue. She was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church, Indian Hills Ladies Auxiliary and the Cuba Ladies VFW Auxiliary. Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her daughter, Deborah Pigue and husband Mark; one son David Belknap and wife Deborah; five grandchildren, Daniel and Jared Belknap and Rebecca, Benjamin and Jeremiah Pigue; other relatives and many friends. Sarah Bell Brown Sarah Bell Brown of Cuba, Missouri was born on August 6, 1923 at Logan, Missouri to the union of William Goebel Ray and Lunda L. (Gideon) Ray and passed away on October 15, 2003 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center of Rolla, Missouri at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 9 days. On October 18, 1945 Sarah was united in marriage to George Albert Brown. Three sons, Stanley, Dennis, and Donald, and one daughter, Susan, were born to this union. They have been happily married for 57 years. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Laverne Ray. She and George had made their home in Cuba, Missouri for many years. They were members of the Cuba United Methodist Church and Sarah was a member of the Cuba Eastern Star. Sarah devoted her life to her husband and family. She was involved in many community activities during the time they lived in Cuba. Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her devoted husband, George Albert Brown; three sons, Stanley Allan Brown and wife Penny, Dennis Geoffrey Brown and wife Mary and Donald Lee Brown and wife Monique; one daughter Sue Lynn Brown; one brother Tom Ray and wife Willadean; one sister Betty Matthews and husband Monty; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Bruno, of Clinton, Tennessee, formerly of Cuba, Missouri, was born June 18, 1940 to the union of Joseph F. and Frances (Catarnichi) Bruno. He entered eternal life May 23, 2003 at the St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the age of 62. He is survived by his one son, Seth Allen Babcock and wife Shannon; four daughters, Sheri Lynn Dinwiddie and husband Mitch, Christina Marie Bruno, Theresa Ennis and husband Ed, Lisa Rene Lewis and husband Bill; one brother, Frank Bruno and wife Jerri; two sisters, Catherine DeClue and Marianna Weber and husband Bill. Florence Elizabeth May Florence Elizabeth May nee Clover was born Tuesday, February 19, 1918 in Leasburg, Missouri to the late John George Clover and Julia Elizabeth Woods Clover and departed this life Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at the Gibbs Care Center Nursing Home in Steelville, Missouri at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 25 days. Florence married Adrain Mervel May on October 12, 1940 in Steelville, Missouri and to this union two daughters were born. Florence was a lifelong resident of Crawford County; she was very active in community service throughout her life. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW Post #6479 where she served as president for many years and was known to many as the poppy lady selling poppies to everyone who crossed her path. She was a member of the Steelville Extension Club, Women's Bowling League, she bowled on leagues in Cuba, Sullivan, and Steelville, winning numerous trophies, she bowled on the television show Bowling For Dollars, she served as adminstrix for several elderly people down through the years. Florence worked for L. B. Price for many years selling household items from her car on her routes throughout Crawford County. Florence accepted the Lord many years ago and was formerly a member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church, and a current member of the Potosi Presbyterian Church. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Adrain, two daughters, Patricia Ann Payne, and Audrey Lee Stacy, five brothers Albert Stout, Charles Stout, Thomas Stout, John Clover, and Bill Clover. Those who remain to mourn her passing are her loving grandchildren Jerry Payne and wife Susan of Charleston, Illinois; Mary Locke and husband Brad of Ellisville, Mo.; Angie Simerda and husband Frank of O'Fallon, Mo.; James Payne and wife Anita of Houston, Texas; John Stacy and wife Lois of Salem, Mo.; Sandy South and husband Jeff of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Michael Stacy and wife Anna of Bunker, Mo.; and Mary Mae Stacy of O'Fallon, Mo.; her son-in-laws William "Bill" Payne and wife Sharon of Steelville, Mo.; and Oscar Stacy of Bunker, Mo.; one brother Percy Clover of Raleigh, North Carolina; and sister-in-law Georgia Clover of Steelville, Mo.; nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends all who will sadly miss and fondly remember Florence Elizabeth May. Meryl Owen Mowry Meryl Owen Mowry was born in Washington, Indiana on September 3, 1907 and passed away at the age of 96 enroute to Rolla Hospital on October 22, 2003. He lived with his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Sandy Mowry in Cherryville, Mo. He was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth (nee Layton) on August 13, 1932. They were married for 69 years when Mary passed away on January 31, 2002 at the age of 91. Survivors include three children, Patricia A. (Floyd) Goodman, Jim (Sandy) Mowry and Mary Ann (Dan) Zimmerman. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Saori) Goodman, James (Trish), Mark (Jill) and Scott (Cyndi) Mowry, Rick (Grace) and Sheri Zimmerman, great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. He will be missed by many other relatives and friends. Freida M. Patrick Freida M. Patrick, nee Roux, 85, of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, born December 17, 1917 in Centralia, Illinois, died Friday, October 24, 2003, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Illinois. Mrs. Patrick was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph William Patrick Sr., whom she married March 17, 1943 and who died June 4, 2003; her parents, Oscar and Sophie (nee Hamburg) Roux, three brothers and five sisters. She is survived by four daughters and a son, Judith (Robert) Reindl of Belleville, Illinois, Joseph W. (Doris) Patrick, Jr. of Florissant, Missouri, Kathy Sutter of Hazelwood, Missouri, Deborah (Mark) Haake of Bridgeton, Missouri, and Kim (Dean) Brown of Louisburg, Kansas. Wilma Lee Wheeler Wilma Lee Wheeler nee Moss of Cuba, Missouri was born on October 2, 1914 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Albert Clarence Moss and Mary Edith (Strauser) Moss and passed away on October 21, 2003 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 89 years and 19 days. On June 7, 1936 Wilma was united in marriage to Howard P. Wheeler. They were happily married until he preceded her in death on February 27, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Wilson and Daniel Moss and two brothers-in-law Robert Armstrong and Len Landers. Wilma was a member of the Cuba First Baptist Church, Cuba, Missouri. She was faithful to her church and Lord all her life. Etta Blanche Williams Etta Blanche Williams, of Rolla, formerly of Cuba, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center at the age of 87. She was born in Stanton, Nebraska on March 10, 1916 to the late Louis and Louie (Ellis) Moritz. On July 23, 1932 she married John A. Williams who preceded her in death on October 3, 2003. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John M. Williams, infant daughter, Joan, son-in-law, Vern Dauernheim, two sisters, Willamena Crabtree and Isola Wagner, and two brothers, Leonard and Donald Moritz. Mrs. Williams was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rolla. She will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes her son Jerry Williams and wife Nikki; four daughters, Jean Broleman and husband John, Janet Dauernheim, Joyce Roach and husband John, and Jane Brown and husband Steve; daughter-in-law, Barb Williams; one brother, Victor Moritz; a sister, Gertrude Leonard; 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services for Etta Williams will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2003 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rolla with Reverends John Roach and Gerald Wittmaier officiating. Interment will follow the service in the St. James City Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends was held from 5-8 Sunday, October 26, at the Null & Son Funeral Home.
