Milliano of Cuba, Missouri was born on October 14, 1935 at Perryville, Missouri to the union of Rawliegh Milliano and Alma (nee Cissell) Milliano and passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at his home in Indian Hills at the age of 72 years and 10 days. He was united in marriage to Mary E. Gerber on December 6, 1958 at Perryville, Missouri and to this union three sons were born. Jack served in the United States Navy from 1955 till August of 1961. After the service Jack worked as a Tool & Die Maker for Gerber Tool and retired from Bachman (Plastic Molding Company) located in St. Louis as a Tool & Die Designer. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus for 53 years. He received Knight of the Year for 2007. After retirement Jack and Mary moved to Indian Hills where he enjoyed fishing, relaxing, visiting with friends but what he enjoyed most in life was his loving wife, children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; other relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years of the home; three sons, Timothy Milliano, Michael and wife Shari Milliano all of Florissant, Missouri and Anthony and wife Lucy Milliano of Paducah, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Timothy, Theresa, Christopher, Samantha, Joseph, Judy, Nicole, Gabrielle and Anthony, Jr.; one sister, Judy and husband Robert Gegg of Perryville, Missouri; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held Sunday, October 28, 2007 from 3-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service was at 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2007 from Britton Funeral Home, Cuba to Holy Cross Catholic Church for 10 a.m. Mass with Rev. James Finder as the Celebrant. Interment at Jefferson National Barracks Cemetery, following mass at 1 p.m. Monday, with full military honors. Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Ed Mitchell Ed Mitchell of Cuba, Missouri was born on February 24, 1940 at Cuba, Missouri to the union of John Levi Mitchell and Delilah Henrietta (nee Shelley) Mitchell and passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the age of 67 years and 8 months. He was united in marriage to Joan Pinnell on April 28, 1962 at Trinity Chapel in Cuba, Missouri and to this union three children were born. Ed was well known throughout the area for being a horse shoer of which he had been since the fall of 1968 after attending school in Perry, Oklahoma. He was in his second term as Crawford County Commissioner District 2. He had been a member of Trinity Chapel for many years and had just become members of Amazing Grace Community Church. His favorite hobbies were horses and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; other relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife of 45 years of the home; two sons, Scott and wife Sandy and Steve and wife Amy Mitchell; one daughter, Shellee Mitchell-Gann and husband Shawn Gann, all of Cuba, Missouri; four granddaughters, Samantha Jo, Shayla Marie, Hannah Lynn and Molly Lee Mitchell; one sister, Lila Lee and husband Kenneth Walker of Pacific, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Osborne, Jr. Chester L. “Sonny” Osborne, Jr. of Leasburg, Missouri was born to the union of Chester L. Osborne, Sr. and Margaret Alberta (Suntken) Osborne on August 22, 1943 in Fairbury, Illinois and left from this life on Sunday, October 28, 2007 in his home at the age of 64 years 2 months and 6 days. He was united in marriage to Mary Aberer on April 21, 1979 in Cuba, Missouri. Sonny was a Craftsman by trade and was a man of many talents. He enjoyed woodworking and crafted ceremonial pipes and cedar boxes. His other talents included making saddles and working as a machinist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, trucks and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandkids. Sonny served his Country honorably in the U.S. Navy. He was a Man of God and was a Native American in Christian Faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester L. Osborne, Sr. and Margaret Alberta (Suntken) Osborne; two daughters, Dawn Marie and Margaret Rose Osborne. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Mary (Aberer) Osborne of Leasburg, Missouri; three sons, James Michael Tutt and friend Christine of Lancaster, California, Jeffery Duane and wife Crystal Norris of Cuba, Missouri and Steven and wife Cristal Osborne of Cuba, Missouri; two daughters, Ame Osborne of Pennsylvania and Gale Elaine Osborne of Leasburg, Missouri; stepmother, Arden Osborne of Strawn, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Timothy and Thomas Tutt, Vincent Parker, Dereck Norris, Caleb Osborne, Jonathon Wilkinson, Lyssa Norris, Makayla Osborne and Amanda Osborne-LaVetere; brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and many extended family and friends. Stacy Ann Roper Stacy “Scooter” Ann Roper, of New Truxton, Missouri and formerly of Steelville, Missouri, was born September 1, 1978 in Rolla, Missouri to Larry Lee Roper and Donna Ruth (Ogle) Roper and passed away Friday, October 26, 2007 at the age of 29 years. She had worked as a nursing assistant in O’Fallon, Missouri. She loved camping, water skiing and snow skiing and was a collector of elephants. As an organ donor, she touched the lives of possibly nine persons. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two sons, Austin James Roper of Havelock, North Carolina and Seth Michael Webb of O’Fallon, Missouri; one daughter, Kirsten Donna Webb of Steelville, Missouri; foster mom, Sue Canelos of New Truxton, Missouri; one brother, Scott Conaway and wife Jessica of Steelville, Missouri; one sister, Stephanie Miller and husband Dennis of O’Fallon, Missouri; grandmothers, Beulah Moline and Dovie Conaway of Steelville, Missouri and Ruth Ogle of Keysville, Missouri. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2007 at the Britton- Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music recordings of “Mama I’m Coming Home” and “Believe” were played during the service. Special memories were given by Mike Wood and Kathie Conaway. A music recording of the song “Held” was the closing song. Serving as casketbearers were Bo Roper, Jason Bishop, Joshua Asher, Steven McMillen, Dennis Miller and George Covey. Committal prayer and burial were in the Freeman Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Leslie W. Thorpe Leslie W. Thorpe of Cuba formerly of Steelville, Missouri was born to the union of John Thomas and Mary Ann (Whitaker) Thorpe on August 28, 1916 in Nottingham, England and passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2007 in Owensville, Missouri at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 27 days He was united in marriage to Doris T. Smith on June 3, 1989. Leslie retired in 1981 after many years of dedicated service as an electrician for The Boeing Company. There he was instrumental in helping build the F-15 Fighter Jets and the Gemini Space Capsule. He had 25 years of perfect attendance, commuting from Steelville everyday to The Boeing Company. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba, a practice pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals and proudly served his Country during WW II in the U.S. Army. His hobbies included rock building and a 15 acre strawberry garden. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Margaret L. Thorpe and Doris T. Smith-Thorpe; stepson, Ronald James Smith; brothers, John Thomas Thorpe, Jr. and Frederick Thorpe; and sister, Eileen Thorpe-Fowler. He is survived by his daughter, Diane Whitaker of Santa Rosa, California; one stepson, James E. and wife Elvena Smith of Cuba, Missouri; one step- daughter-in-law, Shirley Smith of Cuba, Missouri; six grandchildren, Dennis Smith, Pamela Darmody, James Smith, Jr., David Smith, Sherri Ziegler and Desiree Northrup; great grandchildren, Adria, Matthew, Allison, Sarah, Kristen, Katlyn, Robert and Nicholas James, Isabelle Gretchen. Phyllis Jean Soppeland Phyllis Jean Soppeland, nee Duff, of Cuba, Missouri was born on Monday, May 21, 1923 in Winterset, Iowa to C. Thornton Duff and Iva Hamilton Duff. She passed away at Cuba Manor on Friday, October 26, 2007 at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 5 days. Phyllis married William E. Soppeland on March 15, 1953 in Elsworth, Iowa and to this union three children were born. For several years she was active in the PTA, Pythian Sisters, and Church Council. Her hobbies were traveling, especially overseas trips every year; needlework, needlepoint crochet, crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; and son, Gene D. Soppeland. She is survived by her children, Myron “Myke” Soppeland and wife Sandy of St. Louis, Missouri and Beth Peter and husband Barry of Peabody, Kansas; sister-in-law, Margaret Ingle and husband Les of Iowa Falls, Iowa; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorial Service is Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 7 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Jeff Schanbacher officiating.
