Aileen Erni
Aileen Erni of Bourbon, Mo. passed away Sunday, October 22, 2000 at the age
of 85 years.
Mrs. Erni was born January 5, 1915 at Sullivan, Mo. to the late Claude and
Effie Chapman and was a life-long resident of the Sullivan and Bourbon
areas. She was later married to Luther Erni and to this marriage a son was
born. Luther preceded her in death in December of 1979.
Mrs. Erni helped her husband on the family farm in Bourbon for many years.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon
and was a member of the Ladies Aid Society. She also found pleasure in
playing Pinochle and Bridge and was a gifted seamstress. Mrs. Erni was a
loving mother and grandmother whose tenderness will long be remembered by
her family and friends.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Bonnie Erni of
Bourbon, one sister, Lorene Cartwright of Camdenton, Mo., two
grandchildren, Daniel Erni of Taylorville, Illinois and Jill Comely of
Foristell, Mo., other relatives and friends. A brother Clark Chapman and a
sister Virginia Lammert preceded Aileen in death.
It was the request of Mrs. Erni that she be cremated with private funeral
services following. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the
building fund of the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon. Funeral
arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Mo.
Gloria B. Hapgood
Gloria B. Hapgood was born Friday, August 21, 1925, in St. Louis, Mo., a
daughter of the late William Hapgood and Bessie Warden Hapgood Bergmann.
Her step-father was Elmer Bergmann.
She died Tuesday, October 17, 2000, in Belleville, Illinois, at the age of
75 years, 1 month and 26 days.
In 1942, she was united in marriage to Clifford Paul Boulch, two sons and
five daughters were born to this union. He preceded her in death.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are two sons, Clifford Boulch,
Jr. of Alaska, Gary Boulch and wife Sue of Seattle, Washington, five
daughters, Pam and husband Jerry Hochmuth of Staunton, Illinois, Yvonne and
husband Charles Wilson of Wood River, Illinois, Roberta and husband Jerry
Handshy of Carpenter, Illinois, JoAnn Bell of Anna, Illinois, Debra and
husband Rick Laster of Jonesboro, Illinois.
One sister, La-Verne and husband Dr. Walter (Mac) McQullian of Steelville,
Mo.; seventeen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, dear aunt of Bob,
Pat, Sue and Mike McQullian of Steelville, Mo., cousins, other relatives
and many friends.
In addition to her parents, step-father, and husband, Gloria was preceded
in death by a daughter-in-law, Barbara Boulch, an infant son, and two
grandchildren, Allan Boulch and Matthew Tebbe.
Gloria B. Hapgood lay in state 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2000,
at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were
held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2000 in the Britton Chapel with
Bradley Harmon, Pastoral Administrator for St. Michael's Catholic Church,
Steelville, Mo. officiating.
Committal prayers and interment were in Steelville Cemetery, Steelville,
Mo. Serving as pallbearers were Tony Boulch, Tom Donnell, Jerry Handshy,
Matt Lee, and Christopher McQullian.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville,
Mo.
Bessie Margaret Taylor
Bessie Margaret Taylor nee Thomas, was born Wednesday, February 28, 1912,
in Richland, Mo., a daughter of the late William Thomas and Lillie (Warren)
Thomas. She entered eternal rest Friday, October 27, 2000, in the Phelps
County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Mo., at the age of 88 years, 7
months and 29 days.
On April 10, 1929, at Cuba, Mo., she was united in marriage to Harold
Arthur Taylor. Three sons and four daughters were born to this union. They
would have celebrated sixty-five years together in April, before his death,
March 20, 1994, the last thirty-six years they lived in Steelville.
She was also preceded in death by one son James Allen (Jim) Taylor; three
brothers, Clarence Thomas and wife Evelyn, Victor Thomas and wife Margaret,
and Leonard Thomas and wife Flossie; and one sister Myrtle Newell.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted children,
William (Bill) Taylor and wife Pauline of Austin Texas, Elaine (Mrs. Jim)
Taylor of Steelville, Mo., Mildred and husband Lee Farmer of Glen Carbon,
Illinois, John Taylor and wife Carolyn of Steelville, Mo., Georgia and
husband Wayne Helderman of Burfordville, Mo., Patsy and husband John Havens
of St. James, Mo., Wanda and husband Carman Halbert of Steelville, Mo.
One brother Robert Thomas and wife Marie of Cuba, Mo.; two sisters-in-law
Peggy (Mrs. Roy) Taylor of St. James, Mo., Kay (Mrs. Harry) Taylor of
Granite City, Illinois; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-nine
great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
Bessie Margaret Taylor lay in state 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 29,
2000, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral
services were held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2000, in the Britton
Chapel with Dr. Cardis Bryan officiating. Cindy Gladden eulogized her
grandmother. Musical selections were provided by grandchildren, Bryan
Taylor and Cindy Gladden, and Rhonda Bass.
Committal prayers and interment were in Lick Creek Cemetery, Cuba, Mo.
Serving as pallbearers were Danny Farmer, Mike Farmer, Kelly Halbert, Kevin
Halbert, Mark Haven, Clay Helderman, and Bryan Taylor.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville,
Mo.
Alma Tyree
Alma Tyree of Rolla, Mo., formerly of Sullivan, passed away on Thursday,
October 26, 2000 at the age of 88 years.
Mrs. Tyree was born on December 17, 1911 in Batesville, Arkansas to the
late Henry and Cora (Hicks) Weaks. As a teenager, she moved to the
Washington, Mo. area where she was employed for a time at the shoe factory
there. After her marriage to Walter Tyree in 1940, she moved to the
Sullivan area where she and her husband purchased a farm. She helped her
husband on the farm, and also worked as a cook for the Spring Bluff School
for several years. Mrs. Tyree enjoyed quilting, and was a faithful member
of the First Assembly of God in Sullivan. Later in life ill health caused
her to retire to the Rolla area where she could be near her daughter, Judy.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth Tyree and wife, Judy, of Vidor, Texas;
one daughter, Judy Black O'Connor and her husband, Robert, of Rolla, Mo.;
one sister, Monnie Obermark of Washington, Mo.; six grandchildren, eight
great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mrs.
Tyree was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 1982, two brothers,
Jack and Fred, and three sisters, Hazel, Sarah and Faye.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2000
from the Chapel of the Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Gary
Oblesby officiating. Interment was in Schmidt Cemetery. If desired,
memorials may be made to the Alma Tyree Educational Fund.
Clyde William Weber
Clyde William Weber of Cuba, Mo. was born on October 3, 1916 at Leasburg,
Mo. to the union of Fritz Weber and Cora May Weber nee Land and passed away
in Cuba, Mo. on October 25, 2000 at the age of 84 years and 22 days.
On December 14, 1967 Clyde was united in marriage to Patricia Hall at
Steelville, Mo. They have been happily married for 32 years.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and
Owen Weber.
He was a member of the Cuba First Baptist Church, Cuba VFW Post No. 7147
and Charter Member of the Cuba American Legion Post No. 522.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his loving wife
Patricia Weber; four sons William Weber, John Weber and wife Shirley, Ralph
Weber and wife Mary and Clyde Weber and wife Vickie; three daughters
Theresa Miller and husband Larry, Nona Taylor and husband Rick and Linda
McGuire and husband Mick; one stepson John Fulliam and wife Mary Ann; one
sister Maude McDaniel; 30 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; nieces;
nephews; other relatives and friends.
Clyde was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather,
brother, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
Clyde William Weber was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
American Legion Services were on Thursday, October 26, 2000 by the Cuba
American Legion Post No. 522. Funeral services were held on Friday, October
27, 2000 at 2 p.m. at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Bob Houchins
officiating. Interment was in the Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, Mo. All
arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Mo.
