Daniel Leroy Ahner
Daniel Leroy Ahner of Steelville, Missouri was born on Thursday,
October 12, 1950 in Sunset, Missouri to Dallas W. and Golda P. Thomas
Ahner and passed away in his home on Monday, October 24, 2011 at the age
of 61 years and 12 days.
Dan married Patricia Morris on April 2, 1971 at Assembly of God Church,
Flat River, Missouri and to this union three children were born.
He worked for Doe Run Mining Co., Viburnum, Missouri for 42 years. He
had served at one time as a volunteer for the Quad County and Sullivan,
Missouri Fire Department. He was an EMT for Sullivan and Crawford County
Ambulance Districts. He also, was an EMT instructor at Sullivan Hospital
and East Central College.
He was an American History buff, but most of all was proud to be a Patriot
Guard. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, and
traveling.
He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Glenna Louise Ahner;
brother, Glen (Elsie) Ahner; son-in-law, John Gallagher and granddaughter,
Michelle Gallagher.
He is survived by his companion, Judy Hartung of Sullivan, Missouri;
children Donald (Erin) Ahner of Bixby, Missouri, Heather Gallagher of
Irondale, Missouri, Jeff Ahner (companion Nicole Peppers) of Viburnum,
Missouri, Ken (Roseanne) Hartung of Springfield, Missouri, Jennifer Hartung,
and Candy Porter of Fordland, Missouri and Rick (Sandy) Bunch of St. Peters
Missouri; seven grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and
funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri
with Rev. Delmar Hutson and President Griffith officiating.
Burial was at the Liberty Baptist Cemetery, Belgrade, Missouri.

Missouri.
Louie William Bell
Louie William Bell of Steelville, Missouri was born on Sunday,
September 29, 1929 in Dillard, Missouri to William W. Bell and Zelma
Anderson Bell and passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the age of
82 years.
Louie married Lorraine Drysdale in 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri. After her
passing, he later married Judy Murray on June 23, 1987 in Piedmont, Missouri.
He worked for 30 years for the True Manufacturing Co., which made soda
machines and other products. He lived for 18 years in Prichard, Oklahoma and
was a member of the Pentecostal Tabernacle Church of Quapaw, Oklahoma. He
loved the Lord and enjoyed going to church. His hobbies were listening to
bluegrass gospel music, gardening, fishing, hunting, especially squirrels
and deer, working on lawn mowers and automobiles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Zelma Bell; wives,
Lorraine and Judy; two infant children; brothers, Elmer Bell, Earl (Thelma)
Bell and Harold Bell; sisters, Dema (Bill) Quinton, Berniece (Hollie)
Conaway, Virginia (Billie Don) Shockley and Eva “Evie” Lee (Cecil) Huskey.
He is survived by his sisters, Norma Biggs of Salem, Missouri and Anna
Forshee of Arnold, Missouri; sister-in-law, Lois Bell of Rio Linda,
California; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Friday, October 28, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hutson
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Hutson
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating.
Burial was at the Eaton Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri. Arrangements under
the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
Dixie Lee Dehn
Dixie Lee (Simmerly) Dehn of Bourbon, Missouri was born on October 1, 1939
in Bourbon, Missouri to Frank Lee and Fern (Riske) Simmerly and passed away
Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the age of 72 years.
She married Leonard Dehn of Washington, Missouri on July 2, 1966 and resided
just outside of Washington, Missouri. Leonard preceded her in death on
August 3, 1978.
Dixie worked most of her life doing factory work around Washington and
later co-owned the Coach Light Inn Bar and Restaurant just outside of
Leasburg. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 218,
Washington, and was Sergeant of Arms in Post 81, Bourbon. Dixie was an
outgoing person with a jovial personality.
Dixie and her friends would meet for coffee every morning at the Circle
Inn Restaurant in Bourbon, and occasionally at the Chat-N-Chew Restaurant
Ike’s Place in Leasburg.
She is survived by her dear close friends, Diane Vaughn, Darlene Cole and
Charlene Robertson of Bourbon, Missouri and Janelle Millheiser and Christina
Skyles of Union, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011 from
Concordia Lutheran Church in Bourbon, Missouri with Pastor Patrick Runk
officiating. Burial followed in the Bourbon Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
Faith Eugena Dillon
Faith Eugena Dillon, nee Clonts, of Washington, Missouri was born on
April 23, 1924 in Cherryville, Missouri to Jesse Hoyle Clonts, Sr. and
Iona Lee Allsman Clonts and passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the
age of 87 years.
On August 13, 1949 at Rolla, Missouri, she was united in marriage to
Richard “Dick” E. Dillon.
Faith taught for two years at Farrar School where she rode her horse to
school and then worked for Jonas Drug for a few years during World War II.
She later worked as a beautician for several years and then as a cashier at
the Lee Summit School where she could be with her daughters. She was a
member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church.
She was a great cook, an excellent seamstress and loved to dance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Sr. and Iona Clonts; two
daughters Nancy Lee Harvey and husband James and Connie Lynn Lamb; one
brother Jesse H. Clonts, Jr. and wife Irene; three sisters Hallie Clonts,
Helen Clonts and Hazel Lowe and husband Frank; and two brothers-in-law, Jim
Gladden and Wayne Gladden.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dick; son-in-law Wayne Lamb
of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters Eva Gladden of Washington, Missouri
and Ina Gladden of Cherryville, Missouri.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Memories were
shared by Debra Schulte and Joe Gladden. Special music of “More to Go
to Heaven,” “My Faith Looks Up to Thee” and “It is Well With my Soul” was
sung by Danny Gladden and accompanied by Rev. Jerry Bears and Donna Silvey
on piano.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Steelville Cemetery. Casket bearers
were Danny Gladden, Joe Gladden, John Gladden, Steve Shofner, Joe Green, Bill
Coffman and Dr. Ken Colbert.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in
Steelville, Missouri.
Ronald Lee Arthur Hargrave
Ronald Lee Arthur Hargrave of Indian Hills in Cuba, Missouri was born on
February 27, 1940 in Harvel, Illinois and passed away Thursday,
October 27, 2011 at the age of 71 years.
Ron served as a Police Officer for the University City, Missouri Police
Dept. from 1968 to 1983. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army
from 1957 to 1960. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, tinkering with things,
lottery tickets, yard sales, auctions, playing darts and cards,
working crossword puzzles and being a St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Hargrave and Alma Goltz
(nee Bieber) and one brother, Maythan Hargrave.
He is survived by his wife, Rita M. Hargrave (nee Engelhard) of the home;
three children, Patricia and husband Daniel Neiner of St. Louis, Missouri,
Connie and husband Kurt Laramie of St. Louis, Missouri, Brian and wife Mary
Hargrave of Ponte Viedra, Florida; 10 grandchildren, Nicholas and
Christopher Sladek, Eric Neiner, Brittany and husband Ryan Panchot, Jessica,
Joseph and Kurtis Laramie, Katharine, Kristina and Kimberly Hargrave; one
great granddaughter, Raelynn Olmsted; three sisters, Vivian Swift of Alton,
Missouri, Gertrude and husband Ron Spears of Louisiana, Missouri, Phyllis
and husband Dave Bruch of Sikeston, Missouri; one aunt, Betty West of
Affton, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at the
Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral was held on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Mizell
Funeral Home.
Interment followed with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National
Cemetery 1:30 p.m.

Donald Leroy Manues
Donald Leroy Manues of Belle, MO was born on Tuesday, October 29, 1944 in
St. Louis, Missouri to John Golden and Bertha Alma Christeson Manues and
passed away at MO Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Missouri on Wednesday,
October 26, 2011 at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 27 days.
Donald served his country honorably in the United States Army during the
Vietnam War. He worked several years as a mechanic for the Beaufort
Trucking Company in Gerald, Missouri.
He married Catherine Judy Ray on October 11, 1986 in Leasburg, Missouri.
His hobbies were fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertha Manues; brothers,
Raymond Manues, Richard John Manues, Jim (Geneva) Barber and Eddie
(Josephine) Barber; sister, Sandra Husch, brother-in-law, Larry Husch and
step son, Danny York.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy of Leasburg, Missouri; daughters, Regina
(Randy) Warren, Robin (Danny) Prieto, Donna (Leon) Monier; stepsons, Thomas
Blanton of St. James, Missouri and Ray (Heather) Benson of Owensville,
Missouri; sisters, Mary Husch of Bourbon, Missouri, Barbara (Roman)
Strickland of Steelville, Missouri, Frances Graddy of Sullivan, Missouri,
Juanita Sissy Zorn of Bland, Missouri; brother, Buddy (Virginia) Barber of
Bellefontaine, Missouri; two grandsons; other relatives and friends.
No public service will be held.

Evelyn Louise Marcee
Evelyn Louise Marcee, nee Bowman, of Fenton, Missouri, was born
July 15, 1948 in Farmington, Missouri to George and Virginia Hopple
Bowman and passed away October 18, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in
Belleville, Missouri.
On July 18, 1964 in Grubbville, Missouri she was united in marriage to
William Marcee and to this union four children was born.
In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, fishing and camping.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Virginia Bowman;
three brothers, Eugene Bowman, Donald Bowman and Jerry Bowman and one
sister, Patsy Bowman.
She is survived by one son, Joseph Marcee of Fenton, Missouri; three
daughters, Betty Aberly of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Norma Lintner of
Gary, Indiana and Mary Marcee of Fenton, Missouri; four brothers, Richard
Bowman, Raymond Bowman, George Bowman, Jr. and Norman Bowman; five
sisters, Susie Messex, Helen Sorgman, Donna Cornahan, Shirley Dunn and
Vivian; 11 grandchildren; one great grandson; other relatives and friends.
There will be a family gathering at a later date. Arrangements under the

Viola May Moses
Viola May Moses of Steelville, Missouri was born on May 9, 1944 at
Washington County, Missouri to Joseph and Sylvia (Wright) Missey and passed
away October 21, 2011 at the Mercy Medical Center at the age of 67 years,
5 months and 12 days.
On April 27, 1962, Viola was united in marriage to Joseph “Bill” Moses and
they shared 49 years together.
Viola loved life. She loved family gatherings. She enjoyed spending time
with her children, grandchildren and sisters. She was a caretaker to all.
Some of Violas favorite pastimes were fishing, gigging, cooking and going
to church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sylvia Missey and a
grandson, Carl Joseph “C.J.” LaChance.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Moses of Steelville, Missouri; two
daughters, Bonnie (Donnie) Eye of Potosi, Missouri and Susie LaChance and
Linzy Agnew of Bonne Terre, Missouri; son, Ronnie (Debbie) Moses of Potosi,
Missouri; brothers, Charles (Leona) Missey of Berryman, Missouri, Frank
Missey of Steelville, Missouri, Bill (Linda) Missey of Berryman, Missouri;
six sisters, Virginia (Lester) Moses of Steelville, Missouri, Eula Ennise
of St. Louis, Missouri, Lily (Mac) Jarvis of Potosi, Missouri, Mary Mercer
of Potosi, Missouri, Diane Reynolds of Potosi, Missouri, and Judy (Rainey)
Gray of Steelville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Don Michael (Samantha)
Eye, Cody LaChance, J.W. Moses and Ashley Moses; one great grandchild,
Ariana Eye; special friends, Dale and Carla Bollinger and family; other
relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the
DeClue Chapel with Rev. Leonard Moreland and Rev. Bryan Meade officiating.
Pallbearers were Tim Brewer, Mac Jarvis, Cody LaChance, John Evans, Don
Michael Eye and Sparkie Bollinger. Honorary pallbearers were J.W. Moses,
Zack Brewer, J.C. Brewer and Josh Jarvis.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Lost Creek Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home in
Potosi, Missouri.
Irene Gnemi Nielsen
Irene Gnemi Nielsen, formerly of Northfield, Illinois, was born on
November 16, 1913 in Girard, Illinois and passed away on October 21, 2011
at the age of 97 in Mequon, Wisconsin.
The Carlo and Natalina Maria Gnemi family later moved from the coalmining
area of Girard, Illinois to St James, Missouri to raise their family and
raise grapes and farm. Carlo and Natalina originally moved to the United
States from Italy. She moved to the Chicago area after leaving St James.
In June, 1936 she married Ervin Englert. She was a widow for many years
before marrying Ejner Nielsen in 1968.
Irene ran a successful business, “Lindgren Agency” in Winnetka, Illinois
placing domestic help throughout the North Shore area of Chicago. She
will be remembered for her sage advice, her volunteer work with local
church rummage sales, her legendary cooking and baking skills; especially
her cookies. She was an avid bowler, bridge player and community member.
In 2003 Irene moved to Mequon, Wisconsin to be near her family.
She was preceded by deaths of her parents, Carlo and Natalina Gnemi of
St. James, Missouri; brothers, William (Bill) of Ebenezer, Mississippi,
Guido (Jim) of St Louis, Missouri, Charles of Gary, Indiana, Martin and
Marion of St. James, Missouri; sisters, Ameda Biondo of St. Louis,
Missouri and Elizabeth Schuchman of Chesterfield, Missouri.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary (Englert) Strauss;
grandchildren, Chuck (Beth) Strauss, Deborah (Jamie) Wiebrecht and Dawn
(Todd) Berlin; great grandchildren, Max, Sommer, Shelby and Matthew;
brother Frank Gnemi; sisters-in-law, Alice Gnemi Wilma Gnemi; other
relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Lumen Christi,
138 W Buntrock in Thiensville, Wisconsin at 11 a.m. with visitation
proceeding at 10 a.m.
Jerry Lee Schoffstall
Jerry Lee Schoffstall of Leasburg, Missouri was born on September 6, 1953
in Terra Haute, Indiana to Edward and Virginia Rose (Payne) Schoffstall
and passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the age of 58 years.
After high school, he went on to receive an AA degree as well as several
certifications. He also honorable served his country in the US Army and was
for a time a Chaplain’s assistant. He worked for most of his life as a
diesel mechanic for trucking companies.
Jerry was a kind person and good friend to those who knew him. He loved
to fish, spending time near the river, working on cars, and was known to
visit and talk for hours.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Virginia Schoffstall
and a sister, Sharon.
He is survived by two children, Robert Schoffstall and wife Marsha of
Leasburg, Missouri and Karon Schmidt and husband James, Jr. of St. Clair,
Missouri; three grandchildren, Jerry Lee Boyer, Victoria Rose Bruffett and
Douglas Charles Schoffstall, all of Leasburg; two brothers, Tim Schoffstall
and wife Colleen of Bollingbrook, Illinois and Ken Schoffstall and wife Nancy
of Glade Springs, Virginia; a sister, Shirley Brown and husband Joseph of
Lombard, Illinois; his very close friend, Dale; other relatives and friends.
A graveside service was conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2011 at
Buffalo Cemetery in Sullivan, Missouri with viewing starting at 10 a.m.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,Missouri.
James “Radis” Skaggs
James “Radis” Skaggs of Viburnum, Missouri was born at Shoal Creek, Missouri
on November 22, 1926 to William Otis and Eva Chandler Skaggs and passed away
Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the age of 84 years.
On August 1, 1952 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, he was united in marriage to
Norma Jean Abney.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1952-1954.
Radis was a member of the Look Out Assembly of God Church and a member of
the American Legion at Davisville.
In his past time, he enjoyed watching Cardinal baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eva Skaggs; his
wife, Norma Jean; one daughter, Donna Sue Britton; two brothers, Rev. Herman
Skaggs and wife Hildred and Frank Evans and wife Eula; two sisters, Irene
Skaggs and a infant sister; brothers-in-law, Claude Riggs, Arthur Abney,
Junies Engelhardt and Herman Abney and wife Hilda.
He is survived by his two sons, Wayne Skaggs and wife Mary of Bunker,
Missouri and Ronnie Skaggs and wife Stephanie of Blackwell, Oklahoma; five
daughters, Sharon Clark and husband Gary of Carthage, Missouri, Linda Skaggs
of Viburnum, Missouri, Debra Minor and husband Harry of Moro, Illinois,
Carol Barton and husband Mark of Black, Missouri and Beverly Combs and
husband Larry of Cuba, Missouri; two sisters, Lorene Riggs of Crystal City,
Missouri and Gerene Coleman of Pevely, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Nina Skaggs
of High Ridge, Missouri, Shirley Abney of St. Louis, Missouri and Vernice
Engelhardt of Steelville, Missouri; brother-in-law, Arnold Abney and wife
Betty of Steelville, Missouri; 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren;
special granddaughter, Jessica Skaggs Quinn and husband Jay of Warrensburg,
Missouri who was raised by her grandparents; special friend, James McCurry
of Blackwell, Oklahoma who for 12 years helped take care of the farm; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Britton-
Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with the American Legion Riders
standing guard.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Look
Out Assembly of God Church in Viburnum, Missouri with Pastor Sharon Hedrick
officiating.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Czar Cemetery at Viburnum, Missouri
with full Military Honors by US Army and American Legion of Salem, followed
by a closing song “Sheltered in the Arms of God,” by Tom Stock.
Casket bearers were Travis Smith, Donnie Barton, Aaron Skaggs, David
Skaggs, Joe Britton and Jim Stock. Honorary casket bearers were James
McCurry and Christopher Skaggs.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home
of Steelville, Missouri.
Tabatha Lynn Poindexter Smith
Tabatha Lynn Poindexter of Mexico, Missouri formerly of Wellsville,
Missouri and Steelville, Missouri, was born September 13, 1977 in Mexico
to Kenneth Ray and Becky Sue (Smith) Poindexter and passed away Wednesday,
October 12, 2011 at the age of 34 years.
On April 19, 2006 she married Larry Joe Smith in Steelville, Missouri.
Tabatha was raised in Wellsville. She later moved to St. Louis, Missouri
and then to Steelville for several years, before moving to Mexico the
past year.
She had been employed at the call center for Brookstone in Mexico,
Missouri. Prior to that, she had worked as a telephone interviewer for
Communications for Research in Steelville, Missouri.
She was an avid sports fan. Football was her favorite sport with the Green
Bay Packers being her favorite team. She also enjoyed watching the
St. Louis Cardinals and the Missouri Tigers. She enjoyed fishing.
She is survived by her mother, Becky Sue Poindexter of Steelville,
Missouri; father, Kenneth Ray Poindexter of Wellsville, Missouri; sister
and brother-in-law, Samantha Kay and Darren Bradley of Mexico, Missouri;
other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday,
November 5, 2011 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Martinsburg, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Myers Funeral Home in
Wellsville, Missouri.
