Mary Jacqueline Adair
Mary Jacqueline "Jackie" Adair nee Kinkade was born on January 1, 1939
at Belvidere, Illinois to the union of Ross E. Kinkade and Gertrude (Jackson)
Kinkade and passed away on October 25, 2003 at the Gibbs Care Center of
Steelville, Missouri at the age of 64 years, 9 months and 24 days.
On March 3, 1967 Jackie was united in marriage to William Louis Adair in
Boone County, Illinois. They were happily married until he preceded her in
death on May 8, 2002.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her three sons,
Gregory Kinkade and wife Anna, William E. Adair and wife Denise and Robert A.
Adair and wife Stephanie; one daughter, Teresa D. Bacino and husband Gregory;
two brothers Cecil and Tom Kinkade; nine grandchildren; brothers and
sisters-in-law; other relatives and friends. Jackie was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother, sister, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Mary Jacqueline "Jackie" Adair was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri where funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at
11 a.m. Interment was in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis,
Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home
of Cuba, Missouri.
Ines Conaway
Ines Conaway was born Wednesday, March 19, 1924, at Potosi, Missouri, son of
the late Aussie F. Conaway and Myrtle (Hicks) Conaway. He entered eternal rest
Friday, October 31, 2003, at his home in Maplewood, Missouri, at the age of 79
years, 7 months and 12 days. Ines served his country during World War II in the
Army of the United States. He was inducted July 13, 1944 and was honorably
discharged May 20, 1946. He saw combat duty in the Philippines and Luzon.
He was awarded the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory
Ribbon. After his discharge from the Army he worked for Steelcote Company in the
manufacture of paint 38 years.
On December 15, 1951, at Steelville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Mary
(Setzer) Askins, daughter of Newton W. Setzer and Ida Angeline (Baker) Setzer.
They have enjoyed 51 years together. Among those who remain to mourn his passing
are his devoted wife, Mary Conaway, of the home; one son, James Askins and wife
Patricia of Cedar Hill, Missouri; one daughter, Judy and husband Dean Ellsworth
of Troy, Missouri; two sisters, Eula Ogles of Sullivan, Missouri and Margaret
Turnbough of Owensville, Missouri; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren;
sisters-in-law, Mandy Halbert of Hillsboro, Missouri, Martha Wright of Steelville,
Missouri, Fredia Setzer and Nina Setzer of Cuba, Missouri; nieces, nephew, cousins,
other relatives and many friends.
Ines was preceded in death by one brother, Aussie F. Conaway, Jr.,
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ralph Gilliam, Vondal Turnbough, Ray Setzer,
Dellian and Erma Setzer, Floyd and Ovie Setzer, Paul Setzer, Wayne Wright, Carl
Halbert, Margaret and Fennell Moutray, Mildred and Harry Hogan, Howard Newton
Setzer and Mable Setzer. Ines Conaway lay in state 4-8 p.m. Saturday,
November 1, 2003 at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2003, in the Britton
Chapel with Rev. Marvin Callahan officiating. Musical selections were provided
by Johnny Setzer. Commercial prayers and interment were in Freeman Cemetery,
Cherryville, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Rodney Ellsworth, David Wooster,
Vincent Askins, Jeffery Askins, Bryan Bailey and Ronald DeWitt. Arrangements were
under the direction of Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Winford Ralph Gilliam, Sr.
Winford Ralph Gilliam, Sr. was born Sunday, July 22, 1934, at Shoal Creek,
Crawford County, Missouri a son of the late Taft and Allie (Chandler) Gilliam.
He departed this life Monday, October 27, 2003, at the Lincoln County Medical
Center, Troy, Missouri, at the age of 69 years, 3 moths and 5 days.
Winford Ralph Gilliam lay in state 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at the
Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held
11 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2003, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Leonard
Compton officiating. Committal prayers and interment were in Shoal Creek Cemetery,
rural Steelville, Missouri. Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral
Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Joanne Sloman
Joanne Sloman (nee Biado) was born October 28, 1947, in Honolulu, Hawaii, a
daughter of the late Vincente B. Biado and Norma Bonsoon Biado (nee Kim).
She entered eternal life October 27, 2003, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center,
St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 55 years, 11 months and 29 days.
Among those she leaves to mourn her passing are her husband, John Sloman of
Rolla, Missouri; one son, Jeffrey Sloman of Springfield, Missouri; one brother,
Jeffrey A. Biado and wife Lu of Beaverton, Oregon; one sister, Christine and
husband Cecil Kaiser of Bourbon, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Missouri services for Joanne Sloman will be held at a later date.
Arrangements under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
