Beckham nee Gentry was born October 4, 1910, in St. Louis, Mo. and passed away in Steelville, Mo., at the age of 92 years and 22 days. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers Donald Gentry and Leonard Gentry, a sister Loretta Peabody, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Adolph Kehner, Lois Beckham and Howard Cole. At an early age Islah and her family settled on a small farm north of Cuba. She graduated from Cuba High School in 1929 and after attending college, taught school in Cuba, Davisville, Czar Tower and Steelville. While attending college in Rolla she met Cliff Beckham, son of John Anderson Beckham and Maude Amelia (Marsh) Beckham; and on June 20, 1937, they were united in marriage. To this union two sons were born, Roger Beckham and Terry Beckham. They enjoyed fifty-three years together before his death, May 25, 1993. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her two sons, Roger K. Beckham of Cuba, Mo., J. Terry Beckham and wife Linda of Iberia, Mo.; one grandson, Sam Beckham of Wichita, Kansas and one granddaughter, Sara Beckham of Anchorage, Alaska; one brother, William Gentry of Charleston, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Daphna Cole of Courtois, Mo.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to her teaching career she worked for many years in her husband's law office in Steelville. Islah was a member of Steelville Presbyterian Church. She also enjoyed working with several local community service organizations and supported Shriner's Hospital for Children. During her busy life she always found time to shop for, collect and restore antiques. Islah M. Beckham lay in state 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at the Presbyterian Church, Steelville, Mo. with Rev. Dale Starr officiating. Deloris Bell provided musical selections. Committal prayers and interment were in Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Mo. Serving as pallbearers were Sam Beckham, Corky Cole, Don Hale, Ralph Riemensnider, Randy Riemensnider and Tim Riemensnider. Mark Stephen Breuer Mark Stephen Breuer was born to the union of Leslie H. Breuer, Sr. and Anita Irene (Collins) Breuer on July 6, 1950 at Waynesville, Mo. and departed this life on November 1, 2002. Mark leaves to mourn his departure, his children, Felicity Breuer, Andrew Breuer, Sarah Breuer and John Breuer all of Bradenton, Florida; his mother Anita Irene Breuer of rural Cuba, Mo.; brothers Leslie Howard Breuer, Jr. and wife Barbara of Alhambra, Illinois, Richard Harold Breuer and wife Jackie of Lancaster, California, Charles A. Breuer and wife Dianne of Rolla, Mo. and Jack Breuer and wife Bonnie of St. James, Mo.; sister, Carolyn E. Thompson and husband Fred of Tampa, Florida; 13 nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Leslie H. Breuer, Sr. and one brother, John E. Breuer. Mark was well liked by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Mark was baptized into the body of Christ at an early age. Mark was an accomplished machinist and mechanic and was well known for his love and ability to restore antique vehicles. He took pride in his God-given abilities and won many trophies. When he was not restoring antique vehicles he was enjoying car races and drag races not only as a spectator but as a participant as well. Mark Stephen Breuer was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Monday, November 4, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. with Bill John officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery, St. James, Mo. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. Billie Dean Corzine Billie Dean Corzine of Cuba, Mo. was born on March 4, 1926 to the union of Charles Corzine and Edith (Clark) Corzine at Cario, Illinois and passed away on October 31, 2002 at St. Peters, Mo. at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 27 days. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill was united in marriage to Dorothy Kellems at St. Louis, Mo. on October 19, 1946. Three daughters, Becky, Karen and Diana, were born to this union. Bill and Dorothy were happily married for 56 years. He retired from the Laclede Gas Company as a foreman. Bill was also a US Navy World War II veteran. He was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church, Cuba, Masonic Lodge No. 312, VFW Post 5608 of St. James, Mo., Cuba VFW Post No. 7147, and the Cuba American Legion. Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his devoted wife Dorothy Corzine of Cuba, Mo.; three daughters Becky Thompson and husband Rich of St. Peters, Mo., Karen Leuchtmann and husband Stephen of Crystal Lake, Illinois and Diana Goad and husband Dwight of San Jose, California; two brothers Bob Corzine of Bland, Mo. and Howard Corzine of Florissant, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Dena and Adria Goad, Amy Sexton, Andrew Leuchtmann, Ryan, Billy and Daniel Thompson; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. Bill was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Billie Dean Corzine was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. Masonic services by Cuba Masonic Lodge No. 312 and American Legion services by Cuba American Legion were held on Sunday, November 3, 2002 at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 4, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel, Cuba, Mo. with Rev. Mike Hannah officiating. Interment was in the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. Eileen Fay Gastineau Eileen Fay Gastineau nee Sellers was born Friday, November 26, 1915 at Davisville, Mo., a daughter of the late Minyard Frank Sellers and Lucy Emma (Britton) Sellers. She entered eternal rest Monday, October 28, 2002, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Mo., at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 2 days. On August 3, 1936 at Centerville, Mo., she was united in marriage to Joy D. Gastineau. One daughter, Patricia Ann Gastineau, was born to this union. They were married for fifty-eight years at the time of his death, May 30, 1994. Eileen accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was baptized June 13, 1948, by her Uncle, Rev. John L. Britton and became a member of Bates Creek Baptist Church. At the time of her death she attended Trinity Baptist Church, Bridgeton, Mo. In addition to her parents and her husband, Joy, she was preceded in death by one brother Delmar Lee Sellers, (killed in action, May 1944, Salerno, Italy), one sister, Dolly Sellers, brothers-in-law Noah R. Cooley and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thelma and Roy Adam. Among those who remain to mourn her passing is her daughter, Patricia Ann (Patsy) Gastineau of Rolla, Mo.; one brother, William R. (Bill) Sellers and wife Melba of Waynesville, Mo.; one sister, Marie Cooley of Bridgeton, Mo.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Martha Gastineau of Bismarck, Mo., Carl and Shirley Gastineau of New Bloomfield, Mo., Ernestine and Joel Botkin of Farmington, Mo.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Heyer Violette Jeanne Bush Heyer was born to Walter Irving Bush and Viola May Beck Bush on Monday, September 30, 1929 in St. Louis, Mo. She passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Mo. on Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at the age of 73 years, and 1 month. Violette was united in marriage to Alfred John Heyer, Jr. on April 9, 1950 in Cuba, Mo. and to this union six children were born. Violette lived most of her married life in Cuba, Mo. As she earned teacher training at Southwest Mo. State College she was the last one-room school teacher in Crawford County and later did some substitute teaching in Cuba schools. Violette was Activities Director and CMT at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home in Cuba for several years before her retirement. Violette and Alfred taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday School and worked in the Puppet Ministry at First Baptist Church where she was an active member as long as her health permitted. Her hobbies were crafts, needlework, traveling and helping her husband Alfred with his photography business. She was a loving, devoted wife, sister and mother. Violette was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred, one sister Ruth Hardesty, and cousin Alice Hoyer. Those who remain to mourn her passing are her children, Dr. Elisabeth "Betty" Jean Babb and husband Larry of Wildwood, Mo., Alfred John Heyer III and wife Jeri of Wheaton, Illinois, Laura May Heyer of Kansas City, Kansas, Walter Thomas Heyer and wife Laura of Cuba, Mo., Dr. Ruth Louise Martin and husband Ron of Highland Park, Illinois, Carol Viola Erickson and husband Eric of Bolivar, Mo.; one sister Sarah Bush of St. Louis, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, David, Stephen, and Jennifer Babb, Alfred "Johnny" Heyer IV, Kerilyn Heyer, Thomas and Kathryn Heyer, Nathaniel Martin, Micaiah and Miriam Erickson, Eric and Scott Tenute; 8 great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Alton, Samantha, Haley, Jacob, Manuel, Austin and Nicholas; other relatives and many friends who will sadly miss Violette J. Heyer. Visitation was held on Saturday, November 2, 2002 from 4-9 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 3, 2002 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Cuba, Mo. with Rev. Eric Smith officiating. The congregation hymns sung were "Because He Lives" and "Count Your Many Blessings." Eileen Hughes and Becky Murdock sang "Living For Jesus" and Walter Heyer sang "The King is Coming." Burial was at Fairclough Cemetery with grandchildren and Frank Cunningham serving as pallbearers. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the WWII Monument Fund. All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo. Emerson Granville Storie Emerson Granville Storie was born on March 23, 1919 in Mt. Gibson community near Waynesville, Mo. to the late Sylvanus J. and Esther C. (McClary) Storie. He was a lifelong resident of Pulaski County. Emerson was united in marriage to Nellie Marie Dye on December 25, 1940 and to this union three children were born: Charles, Tracy, and Flora. Marie preceded Emerson in death on February 18, 1989. On January 6, 1991 he married Helen Jean (Fletcher) Spurgeon. When Emerson was a young man, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He and Marie were charter members of the Buckhorn Baptist Church and the Harmony Baptist Church. Emerson served as deacon at both churches, served as Sunday school teacher and was a faithful member. Emerson was instrumental in the formation of the Laquey School District in the early 1950's and served on the Board of Education there for many years. He drove a school bus at Laquey for 23 years and touched hundreds of children's lives. He will be remembered for his honesty, hard work, and keen sense of humor. He filled his life with his family, friends, farming, church, bus driving, operating a store, teaching and always lending a helping hand to friends and neighbors. Emerson went home to be with his Lord on October 26, 2002 at the Life Care Center in Waynesville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie; one brother, Elmo Storie and two sisters, Freeda Crismon and Brilla Ballard. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Helen, of the home, two sons, Charles and his wife, Shera and Tracy and his wife, Linda, and one daughter, Flora Storie, all of Waynesville, Mo. He also leaves two step-children, Jeanne Clay and Chris Spurgeon and his wife, Tammy, all of Cuba, Mo.; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a multitude of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 28, at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Dwain Carter officiating. Pianist, Gladys Wyatt, played as soloist, Gilbert Crismon, sang "Precious Memories." Gilbert also sang, "When He was on the Cross I Was on His Mind." Serving as escorts were Kenny Storie, Tim Wilkerson, Jonathan Storie, C. D. Storie, Paul Schofield, Mauro Skidmore and Barry and Brian Wools. Burial was in the Colley Hollow Cemetery, Pulaski County. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harmony Baptist Church Parsonage Fund. Maurice "Sonny" Trusty III Maurice "Sonny" Trusty III was born to Maurice Arnold Trusty, Jr. and Martha Nan King Trusty of Mobile, Alabama on May 5, 1950. He passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at the age of 52 years, 5 months and 24 days. Sonny moved to Cuba, Mo. seven months ago, coming from Dallas, Texas. He began his career with Edison Brothers Shoe Company over 30 years ago. At the time of his medical retirement he had been in management several years. His hobbies were playing golf, dancing, and riding motorcycles. He was preceded in death by his father; brother Neil Trusty, and an infant daughter, Sarah. Those who remain to mourn his passing are his mother Martha Trusty of Duncanville, Texas; his daughter Wendy Trusty of Cuba, Mo.; two sons Micah Trusty of Indianapolis, Indiana and Austin Trusty of Sullivan, Mo.; one brother Dr. Michael Trusty and wife Kim of Duncanville, Texas; one sister Pamela Carpenter and husband Steve of Plano, Texas; one grandson Drew Kennedy of Cuba, Mo.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2002 at the Hutson Funeral Chapel, Cuba, Mo. with Rev. Eric Smith officiating. Final disposition was at Meramec Regional Crematory, Sullivan, Mo.
