MO Local Obituaries for the Week of November 8, 2007 Julia Anderson Julia Anderson of Cuba, Missouri was born Wednesday, July 7, 1915 at Ledwood, Missouri to the union of Thomas Chmielewski and Mary (nee Tracz) Chmielewski and passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at Rolla, Missouri at the age of 92 years, 3 months and 23 days. Julia was united in marriage to William Anderson on November 27, 1937 at St. Louis, Missouri and to this union one daughter was born. Julia moved to Cuba in 1959 and worked for the shoe company and at the Dutch Barn before retiring. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, was an excellent cook, enjoyed taking care of her yard and flowers, but what she loved most was her family. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Alex Miles, Stanley Chmielewski and Walter Milewski and other relatives and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda and husband Richard Byrd of Cuba, Missouri; two grandchildren, Robert (Jenniffer Henderson) Yates and Lisa Yates; one great granddaughter, Katelynn Yates; nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation was held Sunday, November 4, 2007 from 4 till 8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Graveside service was at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2007 at Meramec Hills Cemetery. Paul Edward Griffin Paul Edward Griffin was born June 17, 1926 in Doniphan, Missouri to Eugene and Ethel (Edwards) Griffin and passed away Saturday, October 27, 2007 at his home in Steelville, Missouri, at the age of 79 years. On September 30, 2001 he was united in marriage to Betty Kimberlin. Paul was retired from McDonald Douglas with over 30 plus years. He was a loyal lifetime member of the Church of Christ and a present member of the Cuba Church of Christ where he had been an elder and songleader for many years. He was a charter member of the Ozark Trail Blazers and loved horseback riding and raising fox trotters. He donated his time and talents to the Golden Echoes in Steelville, Missouri. He never met a stranger and had a smile for everyone. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and two sisters. Dorothy Lee Hall Dorothy Lee Hall, nee Spearman, of Steelville, Missouri was born on Tuesday, May 29, 1923 in Falls Church, Virginia to John Albert Spearman and Rose Pauline Lloyd Spearman. She passed away at Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 2 days. Dorothy married Woodrow Wilson Hall on March 27, 1948 in St. Charles, Missouri and to this union three children were born. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and reading. She attended the First Assembly of God Church, Steelville, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Rudy Nowack; granddaughter, Danielle Stricklin; two brothers, Robert Spearman and Jim (Loretta) Spearman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roy Hall, Charlie Hall, Emma Murphy and Wilma Evans. Esther Leora Holt Esther Leora Holt of Longwood, Florida, formerly of Cuba, Missouri, was born in Davisville, Missouri on August 28, 1924, the daughter of the late Espie and Eura (Yawberry) Edgar and passed away Friday, November 2, 2007 at Florida Hospital East, Orlando, Florida at the age of 83 years. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Bobby, Joe, Bill, Ural and Eldon Edgar and by two sisters, Iceline Monda and Betty McGhee. She is survived by one son, Bill Holt and friend Linda Kreutzer of Longwood, Florida; brother, Swithen Edgar and wife Velma of Cuba, Missouri; sister, Polly Bay of St. James, Missouri; and two grandchildren. Wayne Estel King Wayne ‘Kingfish” Estel King of Potosi, Missouri, formerly of Steelville, Missouri, was born August 20, 1931 in Salem, Missouri to Earl Estel and Dorothy Frances (Hutson) King and passed away Monday, October 29, 2007 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 76 years. On May 7, 1976 he was united in marriage to Juanita Cloin. Wayne worked many years as an auto mechanic in the Steelville area. He loved watching racecars as a hobby. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Steelville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Joe Garms and step grandson, Myron Garms. Beverly Jane Nerbonne Beverly Jane Nerbonne of Sullivan, Missouri formerly of San Diego, California was born July 9, 1928 at San Diego, California to the union of William Jenkins and Ethel (nee Edwards) Jenkins and passed away October 29, 2007 at her daughter’s home in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 20 days. She was united in marriage to Henri Nerbonne and to this union six children were born. Beverly spent the majority of life being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sons, Richard Allen and Michael Kenneth Nerbonne and two daughters, Corine Elaine and Jacqueline Anne; one brother; two sister and other relatives and friends. She is survived by her son, Lewie Nerbonne of Willits, California; daughter, Kathleen Erwin and husband William Freeman of Sullivan, Missouri; one brother, Bill and wife Dewey Jenkins of San Diego, California; two nieces, Joan and husband Bill McCormick and Thelma and husband Larry Nieber, all of San Diego, California; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces, nephew and friends. In keeping with Beverly’s wishes all services were private. Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Charles A. Stewart Charles “Chuck” A. Stewart of Cuba, Missouri was born Tuesday, September 24, 1935 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Horace Stewart and Elizabeth Jane (nee Burleson) Stewart and passed away Monday, October 29, 2007 at St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 72 Years, 1 month and 5 days. Chuck was united in marriage to Marilyn West at the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba on December 29, 1956 and to this union three children were born. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 until 1964. After the service the Stewart family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where Chuck owned and operated a Shell Service Station from 1964 until 1974. In 1974 the Stewart family moved to Cuba, were Chuck was a businessman for a few years before joining the United States Post Office in 1976. Chuck was a rural mail carrier for the Bourbon rural area a few years and then for the Rolla rural area, before he retired after 20 years of service in 1996. Chuck was a Master Mason, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, member of Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple in Springfield, Missouri, on the board of the original Shelter Pals in Cuba and also adopted the first pet from there, “Lucky.” He was the coordinator from 1990 till 2005 of the Shriner’s Golf Benefit for Shriner’s Hospital. He was also a member of the Men’s Thursday Golf League, Wednesday Poker Club (which was held when golf got rained out), and in the last year he was a member of the “Round Table”, which met at 8 a.m. every Wednesday morning at the Main Street Bakery. (The men would get together, drink coffee and chat.) Chuck had several hobbies: from 1965 to current playing golf was #1, but after retirement when he wasn’t playing golf he enjoyed refurbishing and upholstering furniture, working in the yard and tending to the flowers. He was known to his family as the “Grill Master” and he enjoyed watching golf, basketball and baseball on TV as long as his team was winning, but what was most important through out his whole life was his family. Chuck was preceded in death by his father; one brother, William Stewart; his father-in-law, John West; one brother-in-law, Bill Albrecht; other relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife of the home; three children, John and wife Marjorie Stewart of South St. Paul, Minnesota and Jeffrey and wife Debra of Rolla, Jennifer and husband Scot Harrison of Ocean Side, California; six grandchildren, Faith, Jacob, Patience and Andrew Stewart, Catherine and Deborah Harrison; his mother, Elizabeth Jane Stewart Ray; two brothers, Bob and wife Joyce Stewart and Cliff and wife Jodi Stewart, all of Cuba, Missouri; two sisters, June Albrecht of Cuba, Missouri and Nancy and husband Don Fisher of Fort Mauve, Arizona; one sister-in-law, Lou Stewart of Waynesville, Missouri; mother-in-law, Catherine West of Cuba, Missouri; two brother-in-laws, Carl and wife Debbie West and John and wife Pam West, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
