MO Local Obituaries for the Week of November 9, 2000 Virginia Margaret Rowden Virginia Margaret Rowden nee Forester was born on March 3, 1905 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of C.H. Forester and Bridgett Forester nee Mullen and passed away on October 20, 2000 at the Crawford County Health Care Nursing Home, Cuba, Missouri at the age of 95 years 7 months and 17 days. She was united in marriage to Charles Rowden and four sons, Allen, Charles, Melvin and Earl, were born to this union. Charles preceded her in death in December of 1945. In 1949 she moved to the old homestead of her grandfather, Patrick Mullen, had homesteaded where she lived until her health at the age of 93 forced her to enter a nursing home. Virginia was preceded in death by her three sons Charles, Melvin and Earl and niece Louise Reddington (who she raised as her own daughter). Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her son Allan Rowden and wife Kathy, daughter-in-law Wilma Rowden, great nieces and nephew, Steve, Susan and Barbara; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Virginia was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Memorial services for Virginia Margaret Rowden were held on Monday, October 30, 2000 at 7 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with Father Bob Duesdieker officiating. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Rodger S. Shultz Rodger S. Shultz was born on April 29, 1918 in Springfield, Ohio. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Springfield, Ohio on March 25, 1942. Upon his death, he was a member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bourbon, Missouri. On November 9, 1940, he was married to Mary V. Davis, and to this union three children were born, Linda, Pamela and David. Rodger is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters Linda K. and husband Tom Butler of Safety Harbor, Florida; and Pamela J. Hinds of St. Louis, Missouri; one son, David and wife Pam of Cave Creek, Arizona; three grandsons Brad Hubbard of Tampa, Florida, Anthony Boddie of New York City and Brandon Schmidt of Columbia, Missouri; five granddaughters Rebecca and husband Michael Tuomey of Clearwater, Florida; Megan Shultz of Columbia, Missouri; Brittany and Mara Schultz of Cave Creek, Arizona and Mary Baker of Tampa, Florida. Three great grandsons William Tuomey, Jacob Hubbard and Braden Baker; two great granddaughters Donae Boddie and Roselyn Tuomey; and one sister-in-law: Wilda Shultz of Springfield, Ohio. Rodger is preceded in death by his parents Ivan H. and Roxie (Wolf) Shultz; one brother Edmand W. Shultz; one grandson Don Boddie, II. Rodger served in the Army Air Corps, 1942-1945, overseas all three years, being stationed in England, France and Germany. He went in at Utah Beach six days after D-Day. He served with the 1st, 8th and 9th Armies in Reconnaissance. He was a lifetime member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wittenberg College (now Wittenberg University), Springfield, Ohio. He came to St. Louis in 1950 and worked in the computer industry at Fulton Bag, Emerson Electric, Banquet Foods, Kellwood and Washington University School of Medicine. Mary and Rodger bought acreage in Bourbon, Missouri in 1979, built a home there in 1984 and made it their primary residence in 1990. Rodger enjoyed working in his greenhouse and all aspects of gardening and country living. Rodger died peacefully with his Lord at his home in Bourbon, Missouri, attaining the age of 82 years, six months and two days. Cemetery interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2000. Memorials may be given to Concordia Lutheran Church. Mildred Delight Turnbough Mildred Delight Turnbough (nee Harris) was born Saturday, June 16, 1923, at Cherryville, Mo., a daughter of the late James Thomas (Tommy) Harris and Bessie Jane Harris (nee Bettorf). She entered eternal rest, Thursday, November 2, 2000, at her home near Cherryville, Mo., at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 17 days. On April 13, 1941 at Davisville, Mo., she was united in marriage to Cletis James Turnbough. One son Donald Lee and one daughter Geraldine was born to this union. They enjoyed over forty-seven years together before his death February 26, 1989. In addition to Cletis and her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law Pearl and Willie Turnbough, a daughter-in-law, Alberta Turnbough, a great-grandson Jeremy Turnbough, brothers-in-law Curtis Turnbough, Vencil Cottrell, Harvey Geller, and Ed Parsons. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted daughter, Geraldine and husband Bill Black of Davisville, Mo., her loving son Donald Turnbough and wife Barbara of Cherryville, Mo. Five sisters, Ina and husband Gilbert Davis, Alline Cottrell, Betty and husband James Martin, all of Steelville, Mo., Violet and husband Herman Hewkin, Bonnie Barton, all of Davisville, Mo.; two brothers William Harris of St. Charles, Mo. and Thomas Harris and wife Elma of Viburnum, Mo. Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Delbert and Sharon Turnbough of Owensville, Mo., Ercie and Donna Turnbough of St. James, Mo., Earl and Rosa Turnbough of Leasburg, Mo., Marie Geller and Gladys Parson, both of Cuba, Mo.; ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. She served the Lord faithfully as long as her health permitted and attended the Midland Pentecostal Assembly, Steelville, Mo. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. Mildred Delight Turnbough lay in state after 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2000 at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2000, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Stan Collins officiating. Musical selections were provided by Joy Collins and congregation. Committal prayers and interment were in Martin Cemetery, Cherryville, Mo. Pallbearers were Gilbert Davis, Herman Hewkin, Jim Martin, Marshal Perry, Delbert Turnbough and Ercie Turnbough.
