Pauline Florence Armstrong
Pauline Florence Armstrong nee White of Cuba, Missouri was born on
February 18, 1915 in Illinois to the union of Orley White and Gladys Hunt
White and passed away on November 5, 2003 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital,
St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 17 days.
On January 5, 1933 Pauline was united in marriage to Hallie Wayne Roberts.
They were happily married until he preceded her in death on July 12, 1980.
On June 25, 1988 Pauline was united in marriage to Harold Armstrong at Sullivan,
Missouri. They have been happily married for 15 years. Pauline was preceded in
death by her parents. She was the owner-operator of the Wagon Wheel Motel in
Cuba, Missouri for many years. She was a member of the Cuba United Methodist
Church, Rolla Elks Club and a member of the Peoples Bank GO Club. Her and
Harold enjoyed traveling with the GO Club for many years.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her loving husband
Harold Armstrong; three stepsons, James Armstrong and wife Brenda, Eddie
Armstrong and wife Dena and Ronnie Armstrong and wife Beverly; two sisters,
Juanita Whalin and Helen Newlin and husband Ronald; one step-grandson, Rodney
Armstrong; nephews, Lester and Millie Brooks, their children, Sheila and Keith,
Gerald and Liz Newlin, their children, Tim and Deanna Newlin, Ashley, Kayla and
Kylie, Jeff Newlin, Scott and Crystal Newlin and Darrell and Kathy Newlin, their
son Darren Newlin; long time special friend Roy Mudd; other relatives and many
friends. Pauline was a devoted wife, loving stepmother, sister, step-grandmother,
good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Pauline Florence
Armstrong nee White was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri
where funeral services were held on Saturday, November 8, 2003 at 10 a.m. with
Rev. Paul Lathan officiating. Interment was in the Diel Cemetery, Greenup,
Illinois. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home
of Cuba, Missouri.
Robert Franklin Bass, Sr.
Robert Franklin Bass was born Thursday, October 21, 1937, at Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma, a son of the late Rowland Joseph Bass and Priscilla (Franklin) Bass.
He departed this life Thursday, November 4, 2003, near Steelville, Missouri at
the age of 66 years and 13 days. Among those who remain to mourn his passing
are two sons, Robert "Bear" Bass, Jr., and Stephan Bass and wife Julie all of
Steelville, Missouri; one brother, Phillip R. Bass and wife Kathleen, also of
Steelville, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Rowena Bass Winters of Warrensberg,
Missouri, Dr. Priscilla Ann and husband John Timmerberg of St. Louis, Missouri;
three grandchildren, Brendan Robert Bass and Trent Alexander Bass, both of
Steelville, Missouri and Amanda Stulce of Eureka, Missouri; nieces, nephews,
cousins, other relatives and many friends.Robert was a graduate of Steelville
High School and later attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.
Robert's brother Phillip provided him transportation to Fort Leonard Wood for
his induction into the United States Army. Robert served two years in the Army
stationed in France. He received an honorable discharge from service. Robert
lived and worked in France for seven years after his discharge.
Robert returned to his roots in Crawford County, Missouri, in 1966 where he
quickly became prominent in the local business community. Robert often referred
to himself as a "Down Home" businessman, however in the truest sense of the
word, he was an entrepreneur par excellence. He started Bass Canoe in 1967 and
built the business which led Steelville to become the floating capital of
Missouri. At the heart of Robert's Ozark Kingdom was Bass Canoe at the Bass
family farm at Butts. He and his family began entertaining and serving their
guests barbecue made from the prime cattle and hogs that he raised on his farm.
From there, he continued to grow as a businessman and expanded his interests
throughout the area. Many people have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy Robert's
"down home" ideas and creations for years to come. Robert Franklin Bass lay in
state 4-9 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2003, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri.Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2003,
in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Charles D. Likely officiating. Musical selections
were provided by organist Deloris Bell. Committal prayers and interment are
private at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral
Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Laura Belle King Hanley
Laura Belle King Hanley passed away November 3, 2003 in O'Fallon, Mo. She was
born on January 1, 1937, the daughter of Champ King and Edith Naugel King, of
Cuba, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her step-mother, Ann
King. She was a retired nurse, having worked at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Those surviving to mourn her passing are her two daughters, Laurie Ann Ruhl
of O'Fallon, Erin Marie Ott, of O'Fallon; one brother, Roy Lee King of Cuba,
Mo.; one sister, Mary Ann Pyle of Crystal Beach, Texas; five grandchildren,
Brian Ott, Jennifer Ott, Anthony Ott, Jessica Ruhl and Jacob Michael Ruhl.
Visitation was held Wednesday, November 5, 2003 from 9-10 a.m. at Pitman
Funeral Home, Wentzville. Funeral services were held Wednesday,
November 5, 2003, at Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville, Mo.
Gene Hogue
Harold Gene Hogue of St. Clair, Missouri, was born on Saturday,
October 14, 1939 in Sligo, Missouri to Everett Hogue and Marry Frances
Sullivan Hogue. He passed away on Friday, October 31, 2003 at the Missouri
Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 64 years, and 17 days.
Gene served his country honorably in the United States Army after the
Korean War. After his discharge from the military he went to work for the
St. Louis Diecast Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri. Later, he worked a
short time for General Cable and then as a fireman and engineer for the
St. Louis Fire Department. Gene also worked as a bus driver for Bi-State
Bus Company and most recently was a security officer for Purina Farms.
He married Nadene Carr on August 30, 1958 at Cook Station, Missouri and
to this union three children were born. Gene was a member of the Firefighters
Union Local 73, and the St. Louis Deer Hunters Association. His hobbies were
fishing, hunting, gardening, riding horses, mowing grass, and cooking.
Those who preceded him in death are his parents, one son Rickey Gene Hogue,
mother-in-law and father-in-law, Homer and Millie Carr, two brothers-in-laws
Gerald Eaker and Thomas Buckingham. He is survived by his wife of the home,
Nadene; one son Allen Wayne Hogue and wife Tammy of Dittmer, Mo.; one
daughter Lisa Kay Ghattas and husband Aiman of Ballwin, Mo.; three brothers
Wayne Hogue and wife Arlene of St. Charles, Mo., William Hogue of Burbank,
California, and Gary Hogue and wife Kelly of Vermillion, Ohio; two sisters
Ruth Ann Eaker of Geneseo, Illinois and Linda Buckingham of Monroeville, Ohio.
Brother and sister-in-laws Bill Carr and wife Jeanne of Sullivan, Mo.,
Christine Grubaugh and husband Earl, Judy Worley and husband Tom, all of
Steelville, Mo., Tom Carr of Cherryville, Mo., Lois Missey and husband Harry
of Leasburg, Mo., Jane Dillingham and husband Gary of St. Clair, Mo., and
Sharon Carr of Federal Way, WA; grandchildren, Daniel Paul Hogue, Gary Wayne
Hogue, Kayla Dawn Hogue, Ahbier Ghattas, Mona Ghattas, Anthony Ghattas and
Andrew Ghattas; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Monday, November 3, 2003 from 3-8 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home,
Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at 10 a.m.
at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Burial in the Carr Cemetery, Cook
Station, Mo. All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home,
Steelville, Mo.
Orville James Kreamalmeyer
Orville James Kreamalmeyer was born Wednesday, August 13, 1930, at
Cherryville, Missouri, a son of the late Earnest Blevins Kreamalmeyer and
Florence (Rawlings) Kreamalmeyer. He departed this life Thursday,
October 30, 2003, at the Barnes Jewish Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri,
at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 17 days. Orville was inducted into the
United States Army, June 6, 1952, at Detroit, Michigan and served his country
in Korea. He earned the Korean Service Ribbon, two Bronze Service Medals,
United Actions Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He
received an honorable discharge at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, March 15, 1954.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Carol
(Collins) Kreamalmeyer of Fairfield, Illinois; two sons, Jerry Kreamalmeyer
and wife Brenda of Dupo, Illinois and Ronald James Kreamalmeyer of the home
in Fairfield, Illinois; one daughter, Nancy Beaty and husband William of
West Frankfort, Illinois. Three brothers, William Kreamalmeyer and wife Yvonne
of Portage, Michigan, Albert Kreamalmeyer and wife Nellie of Mobile, Alabama,
Clarence Kreamalmeyer and wife Bernice of Imperial, Missouri. Six sisters,
Viola Fleschute of St. Louis, Missouri, Dora Cason of Wichita, Kansas, Jessie
Luntzer of Festus, Missouri, Garnith and husband Bill Turnbough of Fenton,
Missouri, Minnie and husband Bill Black of DeSoto, Missouri, Mary and husband
Bill Parker of Gallatin, Missouri. Also remaining are nine grandchildren,
Ann NcNelly, Jeremy Kreamalmeyer, Sarah Salazar, Sydney Thomas, Isiah Thomas
and Nathan Thomas, Will Beaty, Wyatt Beaty and Celia Beaty; five great
grandchildren Tyler Kreamalmeyer, Kaylie Kreamalmeyer, Joshua Salazar, Joshua
Salazar, Justin Salazar and Jacob Williams; nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in
death by his first wife, Darlene Mae Kreamalmeyer (Nee Harmon) in 1966, and
one sister, Mayme Huffman. Orville James Kreamalmeyer lay in state 3-9 p.m.
Monday, November 3, 2003, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2003,
in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Donald Harmon officiating. Committal prayers
and interment were in Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri. Serving as
pallbearers were Jerry Kreamalmeyer, Jeremy Kreamalmeyer, Dave Salazar,
William Beaty, Alfred Luntzer, and Roy Harmon. Arrangements were under the
direction of Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Edward A. Lang
Edward A. Lang of Cuba, Missouri was born on March 16, 1916 in St. Louis,
Missouri to the union of Henry Lang and Clara Josephine Eschbach Lang and
passed way on November 6, 2003 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center
of Rolla, Missouri at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 20 days.
On June 2, 1940 Edward was united in marriage to Lillian Konita Lennox in
Ralls County, Missouri. They have been happily married for 63 years.
On October 11, 1943 Edward was inducted into the Army of the United States
of America and honorably served his country during World War II and was
discharged on February 10, 1946. He retired from Wagner Electric. Edward
attended the Christian Church of Cuba, Mo., Cuba Masonic Lodge No. 312,
Scottish Rite and Moolah Shrine. Those who survive to mourn his passing from
this life are his devoted wife, Lillian Konita Lang; nieces; nephews; other
relatives and many friends.Ed was a loving husband, uncle, good friend to
all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Edward A. Lang was in state at
the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held
on Saturday, November 8, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. with Woodrow Martin officiating.
Interment was in the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. All arrangements
were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Billie Maxine Breese Nolan
Billie Maxine Breese Nolan nee Roth of Cuba, Missouri was born on
October 29, 1936 in Littleton, Colorado to the union of William Roth and Rose
Hayes Roth and passed away near Cuba, Missouri on November 6, 2003 at the age
of 67 years and 7 days. On November 3, 1956 Billie was united in marriage to
John "Jack" Breese at Hartford, North Carolina. To this union one son, John,
and two daughters, Pamela and Debra, were born to this union. They were happily
married until Jack preceded Billie in death on January 11, 1995. On
January 9, 2001 Billie was united in marriage to Clifford Nolan at West
Minister, Colorado. They were happily married until he preceded her in death
on December 6, 2002. Billie was a member of the Mount Air Christian Church of
Lakewood, Colorado. She had a love of life and was devoted to her family.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her son John Breese;
two daughters, Pamela Weber and husband Jim and Debra Spurgeon and husband Rick;
mother, Rose Chapman; father-in-law John Breese, Sr.; two sisters Charlotte La
Guardia and Sharon Boles and husband Gary; nine grandchildren; six great
grandchildren; nieces; nephews; brothers and sisters-in-law; other relatives and
many friends. Billie was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great
grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, good friend to all who knew her and will
be sadly missed. Billie Maxine Breese Nolan nee Roth was in state at the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Sunday,
November 9, 2003 at 2 p.m. with Kathy Mitchell officiating. Interment was in
the Bacon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction
of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
