Violette J. Heyer
Violette Jeanne Bush Heyer was born to Walter Irving Bush and Viola May
Beck Bush on Monday, September 30, 1929 in St. Louis, Mo. She passed away
at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Mo. on Wednesday, October 30, 2002
at the age of 73 years, and 1 month. Violette was united in marriage to
Alfred John Heyer, Jr. on April 9, 1950 in Cuba, Mo. and to this union six
children were born.
Violette lived most of her married life in Cuba, Mo. As she earned teacher
training at Southwest Mo. State College she was the last one-room school
teacher in Crawford County and later did some substitute teaching in Cuba
schools. Violette was Activities Director and CMT at Briarwood Manor
Nursing Home in Cuba for several years before her retirement. Violette and
Alfred taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday School and worked in the Puppet
Ministry at First Baptist Church where she was an active member as long as
her health permitted. Her hobbies were crafts, needlework, traveling and
helping her husband Alfred with his photography business. She was a loving,
devoted wife, sister and mother.
Violette was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred, one sister
Ruth Hardesty, and cousin Alice Hoyer.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her children, Dr. Elisabeth
"Betty" Jean Babb and husband Larry of Wildwood, Mo., Alfred John Heyer III
and wife Jeri of Wheaton, Illinois, Laura May Heyer of Kansas City, Kansas,
Walter Thomas Heyer and wife Laura of Cuba, Mo., Dr. Ruth Louise Martin and
husband Ron of Highland Park, Illinois, Carol Viola Erickson and husband
Eric of Bolivar, Mo.; one sister Sarah Bush of Batavia, Il.; cousins
Shirley Hoyer of Cuba, Mo., and Earl Bush of St. Louis, Mo.; 12
grandchildren, David, Stephen, and Jennifer Babb, Alfred "Johnny" Heyer IV,
Kerilyn Heyer, Thomas and Kathryn Heyer, Nathaniel Martin, Micaiah and
Miriam Erickson, Eric and Scott Tenute; 8 great-grandchildren, Alyssa,
Alton, Samantha, Haley, Jacob, Manuel, Austin and Nicholas; other relatives
and many friends who will sadly miss Violette J. Heyer.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 2, 2002 from 4-9 p.m. at Hutson
Funeral Home, Cuba, Mo.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 3, 2002 at 2 p.m. at First
Baptist Church, Cuba, Mo. with Rev. Eric Smith officiating. The
congregation hymns sung were "Because He Lives" and "Count Your Many
Blessings." Eileen Hughes and Becky Murdock sang "Living For Jesus" and
Walter Heyer sang "The King is Coming."
Burial was at Fairclough Cemetery with grandchildren and Frank Cunningham
serving as pallbearers.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the WWII
Monument Fund.

George Calvin Martin
George Calvin Martin of Cuba, Mo. was born on July 12, 1925 at Cuba, Mo. to
the union of William Edward Martin and Anna Adele (Hamilton) Martin and
passed away at his home near Cuba, Mo. on November 4, 2002 at the age of 77
years, 3 months and 22 days.
On December 15, 1944 George entered the Army of the United States of
America and honorably served his country during World War II and was
discharged on October 14, 1947.
On December 8, 1948 George was united in marriage to Mabel Mullen. One
daughter, Judy, and one son, Kevin, were born to this union. They were
happily married for 53 years.
George was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Fred C.
Martin.
George went to work for Echo Supplies Company of Cuba, Mo. and 1951 and
retired in July of 1990 as the Plant Superintendent.
He was a member of the Cuba Masonic Lodge No. 312 and Missouri Disabled
Veterans of America. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed wood working.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his devoted wife
Mabel Martin; daughter Judy Leathers and husband Joe; one son Kevin Martin
and wife Pegge; mother-in-law Florence Mullen; grandchildren, Justin
Leathers and wife Gwen, Jody Zale and husband Aaron, Jason Martin and wife
Trish and Krystle Brown and husband Joe; great-grandchildren, Hanna and
Zoie Leathers, Zackary Zale and June Brown; one brother, Bill Martin; two
sisters, Nell Davis and husband Elwin and Alice Glaese and husband David;
nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
George was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, brother, good friend to all who knew him and will be
sadly missed.
George Calvin Martin was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
where funeral services were held on Thursday, November 7, 2002 at 2 p.m.
with Gary Mace officiating.
Pallbearers were Phil Mullen, Jason Martin, Justin Leathers, Joe Mullen,
Joe Brown and William D. Mullen. Interment was in the Kinder Cemetery,
Cuba, Mo.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of
Cuba, Mo. Memorials to the American Cancer Society.
Joseph Paul Emil Michalik
Joseph Paul Emil Michalik of Cuba, Mo. was born on July 28, 1921 at Wichita
Falls, Texas to the union of Joseph F. Michalik and Anna (Krajca) Michalik
and passed away on November 4, 2002 at Cuba, Mo. at the age of 81 years, 3
months and 6 days.
On April 10, 1943 Joe was united in marriage to Helen M. Hamilton at Cuba,
Mo. Two daughters, Diane and Donna, were born to this union. Joe and Helen
have been happily married for 59 years.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Frank and George
Michalik.
He was a long time resident of Crawford County and was a retired
self-employed oil jobber.
Joe was also a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Cuba, Mo.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his devoted wife
Helen M. Michalik; two daughters, Diane M. Sparks and husband Sonny and
Donna S. Jett and husband Michael; two brothers, John Michalik and wife
Eleanor and William Michalik and wife Billie; three sisters, Josephine
Domijan, Margaret Antonic and Marie Bauer; six grandchildren, James J.
Hughes, Cheri Tune, Carolyn Sanazaro, Thomas J. Hughes, Sheila Green and
Michael C. Jett; three step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; nieces;
nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Joe was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather,
brother, uncle, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
Joseph Paul Emil Michalik was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Mo. Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 7, 2002 at 11 a.m. at
the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Cuba, Mo. with Rev. Schnakenberg
officiating. Interment was in the Hamilton Cemetery, Cuba, Mo.
Pallbearers were James J. Hughes, Tommy Hughes, Jim Hughes, Dan Sanazaro,
Terry Tune and Cory Tune.

Mo. Memorials to the Hamilton Cemetery, Cuba, Mo.
Joseph M. Moses
Joseph Milton Moses of Steelville, Mo. was born at Davisville, Mo. on
October 17, 1913. He was the son of the late William T. "Bill" and Amy
(Knott) Moses. Joseph departed this life at the Washington County Memorial
Hospital in Potosi, Mo. on October 20, 2002.
He was united in marriage to Virgie Marie Coffman on January 18, 1936 in
Potosi, Mo. To this union eleven children were born.
He is survived by one daughter, Rosella Smith and husband Jerry of
Steelville, Mo., seven sons, Chester Moses and special friend Zelma, of
Steelville, Mo., Rolla Moses of Steelville, Mo., Joseph Moses, Jr. and wife
Viola of Steelville, Mo., Lester Moses and wife Virginia of Steelville,
Mo., Curtis Moses and special friend, Lorraine of Phillipsburg, Mo., Patty
Moses and wife Ruth of Steelville, Mo., Loise Moses and wife Sharon of
Albany, Kentucky.
One sister, Goldie Wilkerson of Potosi, Mo., three former daughters-in-law,
Gertrude Catlett of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Merle Patterson of Ozark, Mo.
and Linda Ledbetter of St. Louis, Mo., special friend, Pam Garrison of
Cuba, Mo., twenty-four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two
daughters, Roberta Bishop and Joanne Luther, one son, Floyd Moses, four
sisters, Florence Haffer, Pauline Keey, Margie Ashcroft, Agnes Delashmit
and one half-sister, Elsie Stringer, one brother, Virgil Moses and one
half-brother, Ezra Moses, one grandson, Dennis Smith, and one
great-grandson, Carl Joseph "C. J." Lachance.
Joe enjoyed and appreciated the many gifts of Mother Nature. He loved coon
hunting, fishing and was well known for his bountiful gardens. Joe was a
farmer, he worked in the timber industry, and many people will remember him
for his trading skills. He could spend hours visiting with his many
friends, spinning yarns and sharing his wonderful gift of story-telling.
Joe had a special love for his Lord and Savior. He will be lovingly missed
by his family and many friends.
Visitation was held from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2002 and from
8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at the Moore Funeral
Home in Potosi.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2002
at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dean Heady officiating. Burial was
in the Redbud Memorial Gardens under the direction of Moore Funeral Home,
Potosi.
William Ringeisen
William Newton Ringeisen, of rural Owensville, died Wednesday, October 30,
2002, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was 87 years old.
He was born December 8, 1914, in Gasconade County, a son of John and
Margaret Reynolds Ringeisen. He married Lorene V. Wright on September 28,
1940, in Rolla, and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Ringeisen is survived by one daughter, Janet Rikard and her husband
Marland of Owensville; three grandchildren, Mark, Matthew and Michael
Rikard; and five great grandchildren, Jeremy, Jacob, Katy, Kali and Eli
Rikard.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Russell Ringeisen; and
one sister, Ruby Humphrey.
Mr. Ringeisen served in the US Army during World War II. He had been
employed as a cement finisher in the construction business. He was a
charter member of the VFW Post 6133 and a member of the Owensville Masonic
Lodge #624.
Services were held November 2 at Gottenstroeter Funeral Chapel in
Owensville with the Rev. Leslie Dority officiating. Burial was made in the
Licklider Cemetery in rural Cuba.
Arrangements were made under the direction of Gottenstroeter Funeral Home
in Owensville.
Justyce Myra Lynn Shockley
Born Thursday, November 7, 2002 at Washington, Mo., died November 7, 2002.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at 12 noon at
Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Clair, Mo. with the Rev. Thomas
Wilkins officiating.
She is survived by her parents, Sarah Lynn Reiner and David Wayne Shockley,
one brother, Gaige Earl Shockley, of Union, Mo.
Maternal grandparents, David and Pamela Reiner of Union, Mo. Paternal
grandparents, Michael and Sandra Shockley of Cuba, Mo., great-grandparents,
Robert and Catherine Hutson of Bourbon, Mo., Kathlean Shockley of Cuba,
Mo., Ron Sawyer of Aurora, Colorado, Joyce Reiner of Cape Girardeau, Mo.,
great great grandparents, Bertis and Jean Read of Mt. Vernon, Indiana,
Elmer Hutson of Anniston, Mo. and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family was served by the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union, Mo.
Wayne Clint Smith
Wayne Clint Smith was born Saturday, February 20, 1932, at Cook Station,
Mo., son of the late Emory Clyde Smith and Daphna Carry (Benton) Smith.
He entered eternal rest Saturday, November 2, 2002, at the Parkland Health
Center, Farmington, Mo. at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 12 days.
On January 22, 1955, in Steelville, Mo., Rev. Sam Roper united Wayne in
marriage to Nellie Mae Harris, daughter of Dallas E. Harris and Beulah
(Callahan) Harris. Four daughters were born to this union. They enjoyed
over thirty-eight years together before her death, March 30, 1993.
In addition to his parents Emory and Daphna Smith and wife Nellie, Wayne
was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dallas and
Beulah Harris; an infant brother, Robert Glenn Smith, one sister, Elaine
Lakaner, two sisters-in-law, Cletta Haffer and Erma Smith and one
brother-in-law, Estel Harris.
Wayne served his country in the United States Army during the Korean
conflict, after being drafted September 1952 and served as an artillery
surveyor. He was honorably discharged October 2, 1960. He loved to go
camping, fishing, and attend gospel singings. He was an active member of
Straightway Baptist Church, Steelville, Mo. He helped out with preaching
the word of God. Christ was the head of his house.
After working for a number of years in St. Louis for Wagner Electric, he
had professional training at Bailey Technical School in St. Louis. He
worked at Plotner Motors in Rolla, Cape-Kehner and Cliff Miles Auto Repair
in Steelville. In October 1974, he opened and operated his own garage near
Steelville. Many people depended on Wayne to keep their vehicles going.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are four daughters, Linda
William and friend Beth Gary of Granite City, Illinois, Sheila and husband
Mike Rawson of Farmington, Mo., Paula and husband Tony Knott of Florissant,
Mo. and Tina Smith and friend David Cahill of Steelville, Mo.
Two brothers, Tom Smith and wife Aletha, Jerry Smith and wife Rosella, one
sister Nellie and husband Hartford Harris, all of Steelville, Mo.; nine
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pat Harris of Sullivan, Mo., John
Smith, Walter Haffer, both of Steelville, Mo. and Merle Patterson of
Springfield, Mo.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Wayne C. Smith lay in state 1-9 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2002, at the
Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2002, in the Britton
Chapel with Rev. Marvin Callahan officiating and Rev. Berlie Turnbough
assisting. Musical selections were provided by Rev. Michael Cooper and Ben
Durbin.
Committal prayers and interment were in Straightway Baptist Cemetery, rural
Steelville, Mo. Serving as pallbearers were Jack, Steve and Ronnie Harris,
Anthony Knott, Justin Rawson, Larry and Rick Smith and Justin Yount.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville,
Mo.
Paula Frankie Striegel
Paula Frankie Striegel nee Quartuccio of Wright City, Missouri was born on
December 24, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Manuel Mike
Quartuccio and Josephine L. (DeLorenzo) Quartuccio and passed away at Cuba,
Missouri on November 2, 2002 at the age of 48 years 10 months and 8 days.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a member of the Catholic faith.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her children
Christopher and Kevin Striegel and Jennifer Werner and husband Jeremy; one
sister Theresa Hopkins and husband Craig; one granddaughter Paige Snowden;
other relatives and friends.
Paula was a devoted mother, loving daughter, sister, aunt, good friend to
all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Paula Frankie Striegel was in state at the Britton Funeral Home in Cuba,
Missouri. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at 1
p.m. with Father James Finder officiating. Interment was in the Meramec
Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. All arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
