Amanda Caroll Hunter
Amanda Caroll Hunter, Bourbon, Missouri, was born at Sullivan, Missouri on
July 4, 1983 to James and Tammy (Haynes) Hunter and passed away in St. John’s
Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at
the age of 24 years.
She was a life-long resident of Bourbon and had attended school there. She
enjoyed reading, arts and crafts and especially animals.
She is survived by her parents of Bourbon, Missouri; two brothers, Dustin
Hunter of Pacific, Missouri and Tyler Hunter of Bourbon, Missouri; grand-
parents, Judy Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri, Eugene Jackson of Cape
Girardeau, Missouri and William and Alene Hunter of Bourbon, Missouri; other
relatives and friends.
Funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2007 from the
Eaton Funeral Chapel in Bourbon, Missouri with Rick Graddy officiating.
Interment in the Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri.
Harold R. Lager
Harold “Hal” R. Lager of Cuba, Missouri was born Wednesday, February 8, 1922
at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Conrad Lager and Mary (nee Cordes)
Lager and passed away Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Missouri Baptist Hospital
in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 85 years and 9 months.
Hal was united in marriage to Alberta Bequette on June 30, 1945 at St. Louis,
Missouri and to this union six sons were born.
He served in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1945 during WWII. After
the Navy he worked as an engineer for over 30 years at the St. Louis terminal
Railroad. He retired in 1984.
In 1984 Hal and Alberta moved from St. Louis, Missouri to Indian Hills. He was
a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed
playing golf, pitching horseshoes, fishing, playing poker and bowling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three sons, Randolph, Gary
and Gerald Lager and other family and friends.
He is survived by three sons, Richard, Ronald and Randolph Lager of Cuba,
Missouri; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister-in-law,
Joan (nee Bequette) Rushing of Afton, Missouri; nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held Monday, November 12, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral
Home, of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Holy Cross
Catholic Church with Father James Finder as celebrant.
Interment followed at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis,
Missouri with full military honors.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
Glen Junior Martin
Glen Junior Martin of Cherryville, Missouri, was born May 11, 1931 in
Cherryville, Missouri to Cebe and Beulah (Atchison) Martin and passed away
Friday, November 9, 2007 at his home at the age of 76 years.
On September 12, 1951 he was united in marriage to Marie Green.
Glen worked for Swift Meat Packers in St. Louis and had retired in 1969. He
was a long-time member of Center Ridge Pentecostal Church and loved to sing
special music and play his guitar. He was from a musically gifted family of
many years. During the years when Glen was in good health, he enjoyed hunting
and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Ronnie Martin of Cherryville, Missouri;
one daughter, Glenda Nelson of Arnold, Missouri; one brother, Bob Martin and
wife Charlotte of Eureka, Missouri; one sisters, Erma Dunn and husband Steve
of Rolla, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Melba Martin of Davisville, Missouri
and Cleta Hartman of Lebanon, Missouri; two grandchildren, Tonya Munie and
husband Shane and Heather Fries and husband Gary; three great grandchildren,
Eric Munie, Melanie Munie, Marina Fries; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2007 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Pastor Harrison
Brown officiating.
Special music of “What Heaven Means to Me” and Glen’s favorite medley of songs
were sung by Bob and Carol Coleman with Shirley Brown as pianist. Other music
of “Mansion Over the Hilltop” was sung by Rob, Alice and Michael Morton with
Alice on piano. Special memories of Glen were shared by Rob Morton.
Serving as casketbearers were Ronnie Martin, Claude Nance, Mitchell Martin,
Kevin Green, Bradley Green, Stanley Green, Gary Fries and Shane Munie.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Martin Cemetery at Cherryville,
Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri.
Gertrude Zelma Schubert
Gertrude Zelma (Beezley) Schubert of Sullivan, Missouri was born near Cuba,
Missouri on May 28, 1914 to Levi and Georgianna Beezley. She passed away
Saturday, November 3, 2007.
At the age of six they moved to a farm near Steelville, Missouri where
Gertrude lived until May 24, 1933, when she married George Schubert Sr.
She spent the rest of her life on the Schubert homestead on Boone Creek.
She was a homemaker, the oldest and only charter member left of the Boone
Creek Extension Homemakers Club. She was known for wearing hats and having
a remarkable memory. She was a 4-H member as a child and continued to be an
avid promoter of 4-H for the next three generations of her family. She looked
forward each year to helping her church, Old Argo, and make apple butter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Mildred Van
Patten, Mabel Bland, Bonna Ledoux, Miriam Goodman, Betty Hughes, Mary Hedges
and William Beezley; sister-in-law, Rosal Tourville.
She is survived by two children, Sally Jo and husband Zenas Blevins of
Sullivan, Missouri and George Jr. and wife Sally Ann of Alpharetta, Georgia;
two grandchildren, Lisa and husband Ty May of Hondo, Texas and Brent Blevins
and wife Lynn of Williston, Vermont; three great grandchildren, Kylee Jo May,
Alec and Aiden Blevins; one sister, Irene Seener of St. Louis, Missouri;
nieces and nephews.
Harry E. Wideman
Harry E. Wideman was born August 10, 1916 in DeSoto, Missouri, to the union
of George and Emily (Siebels) Wideman and passed away at his home in Steel-
ville, Missouri on November 7, 2007 at the age of 91.
Harry enjoyed his carrier as a bus driver for the Hillsboro School District.
He was a member of the Elks B.P.O.E #689 and was a member of the Pilgrims
Rest Baptist Church in Ware.
On September 26, 1937 at DeSoto, Missouri he was united in marriage to Viola
Mae Aders. They enjoyed 70 years of marriage and raised four children.
He was preceded in death by his son, George A. Wideman; sister Blanche
Johnson; grandson, Michael Friedmann; great grandson, Tony Whisenhunt; and
great granddaughter, Mary Dickemann.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Thelma Friedmann and husband Robert
of Steelville, Missouri Ethel Pratt and husband John of DeSoto, Missouri;
one son Harry Wideman and wife Joyce of ElDorado, Illinois; two sisters,
Opal Haverstick of Union, Missouri and Helen Davison of Maryville, Missouri;
12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren,
two step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Visitation was held Thursday, November 8, 2007 from 4-8 p.m. with funeral
service on Friday, November 9, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Dietrich-Mothershead
Funeral Home in DeSoto, Missouri. Interment was at the Red Bud Memorial
Park, Potosi, Missouri.
All arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral
Home, DeSoto, Missouri.
