Matthew Bach
Matthew Bach of Cuba, Missouri was born January 11, 1985
at Rolla, Missouri to the union of Thomas M. and Cheryl Bach nee
Keogh and left from this life on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at
Sullivan, Missouri.
Matthew is preceded in death by his grandparents Frank
William Keogh and Dorothy Jean Littrell.
Those who are left to mourn his passing are his parents
Thomas and Cheryl Bach; one brother Michael Bach; grandparents Cecil
Thomas and Betty Lou (nee Kreitlow) Bach of Cuba, Missouri; other
relatives and friends.
Matthew enjoyed paintball, mud racing, online gaming,
mom's cooking and was always helping his friends.
Matthew was a great son, brother, grandson, nephew and
friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November
12, 2005 at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Family was served by Britton Funeral Home, Cuba,
Missouri.
Ruth Benson
Ruth W. Benson passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2005
at the age of 87 years.
Ruth was born on February 3, 1918 to Francis Benson and
Peggy (nee Carr) Benson in Vilean, Missouri. She grew up in the
Vilean, St. James and Rolla areas.
She was married on October 20, 1933 to Wilbur Bandy and
moved to Sullivan, Missouri. There, with her husband, they ran the
former Ozark ice and Creamery. She was also a longtime member of the
Mary and Martha O.E.S. in Steelville, Missouri.
She is survived by one son, Jim Bandy and wife, Carole
of Leasburg, Missouri; two daughters, Barbara Mortimeyer and husband
Ray of Cuba, Missouri and Alene Simmerly and husband Garrell of
Bourbon, Missouri. Eight grandchildren, four step grandchildren; 11
great grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren and four great
great grandsons; other relatives and friends.
A graveside service for Ruth Benson was conducted on
Sunday, November 6, 2005 at Meramec Hills Memorial Gardens in Cuba,
Missouri with Pastor Bobbie Higgins officiating.
All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton
Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Alehn Pearl Black
Alehn Pearl Black, age 90, passed away Monday, November 7, 2005
at Frene Valley Health Center, Hermann, Missouri.
Mrs. Black was born January 14, 1915 at Cuba, Missouri,
the daughter of Fredrick and Augusta Wilamena (Haack) Warnhoff.
On October 22, 1939 she was united in marriage to Robert
Black at the Lutheran Church in Cuba, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a
daughter Diana E. Jacquin, a daughter-in-law Betty Warnhoff, a
grandson Earl W. Warnhoff and a great-granddaughter Ann Marie
Jacquin, four brothers and three sisters.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are a son, Earl W.
Warnhoff and special friend Nelle Zurweste, Cuba, Mo.; brother
Leopold (Lafe) Warnhoff, Granite City, Illinois; three grandsons,
Michael Jacquin and wife Rita, Hermann, Mo., Craig Jacquin and wife
Kristin, Kansas City, Mo. and Michael Warnhoff and wife Cheri, Cuba,
Mo.; three granddaughters, Christine Speckhals and husband Kevin,
Hermann, Mo., Debby Brown and husband John, Cuba, Mo., Linda Shore
and husband Andy, Cuba, Mo.; 14 great grandchildren, and five great
great grandchildren.
Visitation was held at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home,
Hermann, Mo. on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 from 4-8 p.m.
Funeral services were held on November 10, 2005, 11 a.m.
with Vicar David Rawlings officiating at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral
Home, Hermann. Interment was at Oak Haven Memorial Gardens, Hermann,
Mo.
Pallbearers were Andy Shore, Mike Warnhoff, Craig
Jacquin, David Schulte, Kevin Speckhals and Michael Jacquin.
Anna May Brown
Anna May Brown nee Pounds of Newburg, Missouri formerly
of Steelville, Missouri was born in Cherryvalley, Missouri on
Friday, November 6, 1925 to David Oliver Pounds and Helen Mandy
Jackson. She passed away in her home on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at
the age of 80 years and 2 days.
Anna married Claire L. Cornick on July 27, 1943 in
Steelville, Missouri and to this union one son was born. After
Claire's death she married Stanley Clifford Brown on September 15,
1945 in Steelville, Missouri and to this union nine children were
born.
Anna enjoyed reading, sewing, canning, rocking babies
and most of all being a loving wife and mother. She was a member of
the Gibbs Thrift Club where she spent time making quilts.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husbands
Claire Cornick and Clifford Brown; brother Emerson Pounds; sister
Edith Isom; grandchildren Johnny Brown and Alan Cornick.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her children

Stanley Brown and wife Pat of Ranchester, Wyoming, Ruth Finney and
husband Ward of Rolla, Missouri, Tom Brown and wife Charlene of

Brown and wife Cay of Steelville, Missouri, Mary Reeves and husband
Clarence of Cuba, Missouri, Barbara Sneed of Doolittle, Missouri,
James Brown of Magalia, California; sister Lucille Shadwick of
Fordland, Missouri; 33 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren;
nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation was Wednesday, November 9, 2005 from 5-8 p.m.
at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were Thursday, November 10, 2005 at 11
a.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Pastor Jared
Gillam officiating. Music selections were "In the Sweet By and By"
and "Shall we Gather at the River" sung by Charlene Brown and Pastor
Jared Gillam.
Burial at Edwards Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri with
pallbearers David Cornick, Tom Brown, John Brown, Jerry Brown, James
Brown and Frank Thomas.
All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral
Home, Steelville, Missouri.
John David Chapman
John David Chapman of Lee's Summit, Missouri passed away
on October 22, 2005. He was 49 years old.
Survivors include his mother Roberta Chapman of Cuba,
Missouri; his wife Nancy Chapman; three daughters Stephanie
(Anthony) Gibbs of Virginia and Megan and Keary Chapman of the home;
one granddaughter Emelia Gibbs.
One sister Maureen (Jim) Godbey of Steelville, Missouri;
one brother Gary (Bev) Chapman of Ohio; and several nieces and
nephews: Paula O'Neal, Mike (Liza) Godbey, Bryan Godbey, Matt
Chapman, Ben Chapman, Jon Chapman, Kristen O'Neal, Kandis O'Neal,
Kimberly Adair and Chassity Godbey.
He was preceded in death by his father Virgil Chapman.
John served seven years in the United States Marine
Corps. After that his career was in computer programming.
John was honored with private family services.
Frieda Marie Hawks
Frieda M. Hawks nee Klein passed away November 8, 2005
at Parkside Residential Care Facility in Rolla, Missouri. She was
born July 31, 1938 to Fred and Reta Klein in Granite City, Illinois.
She graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette,
Indiana in 1956 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. After her
discharge from the Marine Corps., she met and later married Milton
Carson Hawks on June 5, 1959 and to this union two daughters were
born.
Milton passed away September 22, 1962. Frieda decided to
stay in Rolla to raise her daughters. She worked for the prosecuting
attorney for a few years then opened a day care center in her home
and began a catering service so she could be home with her daughters
after school and on school holidays.
She quickly became known as one of Rolla's best cooks.
She was a tireless volunteer with the Rolla Public Schools,
especially the Band Boosters, as well as several other
organizations, to support her daughters' activities.
She was a founding member of Salem Avenue Baptist
Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and is listed in Who's Who Among
American Women. She also was a founding member of The Alumni
Association of Columbia College, a founding member of Alpha Sigma
Lamba National Honor Society, and volunteered for both the Rolla
Public Schools and the St. James Public Schools.
Frieda received a heart transplant April 20, 1995 and
vowed to live each day to its fullest after her transplant. She
attended Columbia College and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in
Psychology with Magna Honors at the age of 63. She was selected the
Outstanding Graduating Senior for her graduating class.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and
especially her surviving family: daughters and sons-in-law Katherine
Laub and husband Steve of Rolla, Missouri and Reta "Dee Dee" Schwab
and husband Kevin of Cuba, Missouri; grandchildren Cord Jenkins and
fiancé Dana Brown of Columbia, Missouri, Claire Jenkins of Jefferson
City, Missouri, Reta DeLaGarza, Lani DeLaGarza and Allie Schwab, all
of Cuba, Missouri.
Step grandchildren Emily Laub of Kansas City, Missouri
and Evan Laub of Rolla, Missouri; her mother Reta Klein of
Lafayette, Indiana; sisters and brothers-in-law Faye and Jerry Cole
of Lafayette, Indiana and Kaye Corbett of St. George, Utah; niece
Susan Whaley and husband Gary of Charlotte, Tennessee; nephew
Matthew Slayton and wife Barb of Frankfort, Indiana; and many, many
friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Milton C.
Hawks; her father Fred Klein and her brother-in-law James Corbett.
A memorial service was held at Salem Avenue Baptist
Church on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at 2 p.m. The family received
friends at the church beginning at 10 a.m.
All arrangements were under the direction of Null and
Son Funeral Home in Rolla, Missouri.
Clinton James Hill
Clinton James Hill of Cuba, Missouri was born on
Thursday, August 31, 1922 in Herculaneum, Missouri, to James
Franklin Hill and Minta Viola Wilkinson Hill. He passed away in his
home on Saturday, November 5, 2005 at the age of 83 years, 2 months,
and 5 days.
Clinton served his country honorably in the United
States Army during WWII and was a member of the Cuba American Legion
Post #522.
He worked in various positions at Paramount Apparel
factory for 20 years and later worked at Meramec Mining Company. His
hobbies were driving cars and was also a driver for several
dealerships in the area.
Clinton married Lucille Evans Koch on October 4, 1974 in
Berryman, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his patents; infant twin
daughter Roberta Eilene Hill; brothers Virgil Hill, Clyde Hill and
Dellis Hill; grandchildren Stacy Parker, Crystal Parker, Tammy
Parker, Richard Summers and Christopher Ettinger.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife
Lucille Evans Hill of Cuba, Missouri; son Robert "Bob" Hill and wife
Debris of Union, Missouri; daughters Dorothy Huff of Washington,
Missouri, Margaret Summers and husband Ken of Bourbon, Missouri,
Linda Jones and husband Dale of Steelville, Missouri, Norma Parker
and husband Roger of Sullivan, Missouri, Barbara Ware and husband
Wayne of Bourbon, Missouri, Joyce Tucker and husband Raymond of
Robertsville, Missouri.
Step son John Koch; step daughter Katherine Campbell and
husband Greg all of Cuba, Missouri. Brother Elgie Hill and wife Ruth
of Cuba, Missouri.
Sisters-in-law Betty Hill of Festus, Missouri, Elsie
Hill of Bourbon, Missouri, Eunice Hill of Rolla, Missouri, Erma
Sellers and husband Leon of Imperial, Missouri, and Eileen Pratt of
Colorado. Brother-in-law Ellis Evans and wife Ardell of Steelville,
Missouri; 20 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends.
Visitation was Monday, November 7, 2005 from 5-9 p.m. at
Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with an American Legion Service
at 7 p.m..
Funeral services were 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2005
at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. James Austin and
Rev. Allan Teal officiating.
Debbie Tutterow sang "Rock of Ages," "Precious
Memories," and "This is Just What Heaven Means to Me."
Burial followed at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba,
Missouri with pallbearers Tim Ettinger, Chris Ware, Gregory
Campbell, Tip Ettinger, James Parker, Danny Hawkins and Wesley
Sites.
All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral
Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Gary Wayne Wilkinson
Gary Wayne Wilkinson of Leasburg, Missouri was born
February 7, 1974 at Bonne Terre, Missouri to the union of John
William and Susie Ann (nee Ayres) Wilkinson and left from this life
on Friday, November 11, 2005 at Phelps Co., Missouri at the age of
31 years, 9 months and 4 days.
Gary worked as a monitor for U.S. Selica Pacific Plant.
He is preceded in death by one brother Johnny Guy
Wilkinson and other relatives.
Those who survive to mourn his passing are his two sons
Nicholas and Kyle Wilkinson of Leasburg, one daughter Kayla
Wilkinson of Leasburg, his parents John and Susie Wilkinson of
Leasburg.
Two brothers David and wife Carla Wilkinson of Salem,
Missouri and Clifford Wilkinson of Leasburg, two sisters Debbie and
husband Marino Di Meo of St. Louis and Nonria and husband Roger
Payne of Rolla, former father and mother in law Ernest and Barb
Messex of Bourbon and a host of other relatives and friends.
Gary was a wonderful, loving and caring dad, son,
brother, brother in law, relative and friend and will be deeply
missed by all, who knew and loved him.
Visitation was held from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday, November 14
at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service was held at
1 p.m. Tuesday, November 15 at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri
with Brother Hugh Stogsdill officiating.
Interment was held at the Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg,
Missouri.
