Blackwell nee Martin of Steelville, Missouri was born on Friday, December 11, 1925 in Cherryville, Missouri to Cebe Robert Martin and Beulah Atchison Martin. She passed away on Monday, November 8, 2004 at Life Care Center, Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 28 days. Ada was a member of Centerpoint Baptist Church, Steelville, Missouri. She worked as a machine operator in a paint factory then later drove the Southeast MO Transit System bus for several years. She enjoyed playing her guitar, singing, working in her garden, cooking, canning, and most of all, spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Clive Morton and George Thorpe; brothers Oren Martin and Buck Martin; sister Lorraine Mobray, two infant brothers and one infant sister. Those who remain to mourn her passing are her husband Raymond Blackwell of St. James, Mo.; children Richard Martin of Glenco, Mo., Robert Morton and wife Alice of Strafford, Mo., Cletta Garrison and husband Terry of Steelville, Mo., John Thorpe and wife Stacy, and Eva Thorpe, all of Austin, Texas; brothers Glen Martin and wife Marie of Cherryville, Mo., and Bob Martin and wife Charlotte of Eureka, Mo.; sister Erma Dunn and husband Steve of Bunker, Mo.; sisters-in-law Melba Martin of Davisville, Mo. and Cleta Hartman of Lebanon, Mo.; special daughter-in-law Judy Gander; grandchildren Tammy, Roger, Sharon, Mike, Joy, Becky, Stephanie, Jason, Brandi, Gary, and Peyton; 11 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Visitation was Wednesday, November 10, 2004 from 5-8 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were Thursday, November 11, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. with Bro. Roger Morton officiating. Burial in Schwieder Cemetery, Steelville, Mo. Carl Thomas Benton Carl Thomas Benton was born Monday March 11, 1912, at Leadwood, Missouri, a son of the late William Thomas Benton and Rachael (Goad) Benton. He entered eternal life Saturday November 6, 2004, at the Salem Memorial District Hospital, Salem, Missouri, at the age of 92 years, 7 months and 25 days. On October 23, 1934, at Rolla, Missouri, Carl was united in marriage to Elizabeth Conaway. They were blessed with one son, Don and one daughter, Shirley. The have enjoyed over 70 years together. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Don Benton and wife Lucille; three brothers Cecil Benton, Bus Benton and Vernon Benton. One sister Daphna Smith; granddaughter, Donna Louise Benton; and brother-in-law, Edward Conaway; and sisters-in-law, Velma Veach and Zelma Eichorst. Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Elizabeth Benton of the home in Cook Station, Missouri; one daughter, Shirley Louise Lyons also of Cook Station, Missouri. One sister, Thelma Hicks and husband Al of Florissant, Missouri; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edgar and Mary Jane Conaway and Dovie Conaway of Steelville, Missouri, Ruth and Frank Greer of New Jersey. Five grandchildren, Richard, Danny, Laurie Ann, Randy and Tammy; five great grandchildren, Stephanie, Amber, Steven, Colten and Garett; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2004, in the Britton Chapel with Brother James Benton officiating. Musical selections were favorite hymns played on the fiddle. Committal prayers and interment were in Carr Cemetery, Cook Station, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Danny Benton, John Plank, Rhuel Benton, Larry Benton, Bill Talbert and Hartford Harris. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Marie M. Counley Marie M. Counley nee Lea of Cuba, Missouri was born on March 27, 1918 at Hinch, Missouri to the union of Harry Lea and Mary Yazetta Summers Lea and passed away suddenly on November 12, 2004 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center of Rolla, Missouri at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 15 days. On September 21, 1962 Marie was united in marriage to Clifford Counley. They were happily married until Clifford preceded her in death on May 26, 1996. Marie was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Wayne King. She was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church. Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her loving daughters, Rhonda Munro and husband Rudy and Doris King; stepchildren, Clifford Counley and Carolyn Marcoll and husband Jim; four grandchildren, Julie Moore and husband Travis, Leigh Ann Norden and husband Craig, Chris King and Jenny King; other relatives and many friends. Marie was a devoted wife, loving mother, stepmother, grandmother, good friend to al who knew her and will be sadly missed. Marie M. Counley nee Lea was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Monday, November 15, 2004 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Lathum officiating. Interment was in the Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri. All arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Mercidean Frances Goode Mercidean Frances Goode of Leasburg, Missouri was born on February 21, 1942 to the union of Stephen W. Richard and Mary F. Bradshaw Richard and passed away at Wentzville, Missouri on November 9, 2004 at the age of 62 years, 8 months and 18 days. In 1964 Mercidean was united in marriage to Walter E. Goode, Sr. in Maine. Three children, Walter, Jr., William and Mary Jo was born to this union. Walter preceded her in death on August 25, 2002. Mercidean was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Paul Richard, Willie Richard, Leonard Rose and Tom Rose, three sisters, Peggy Bergner, Mattie Pearl and Rena May McCauly. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Cuba, Missouri. Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her children, Walter E. Goode, Jr. and friend Linda Jones, William S. Goode and friend Christy Coleman and Mary Jo Walls and friend Chuck Parker; two sisters, Shirley Vessell and Goldie Larkin; three grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. Mercidean was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Mercidean Frances Goode was in state at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at 12 noon with Rev. Jeff Duncan and Rev. Lonnie Webb officiating. Interment was in the Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Edith Irene Pryor Edith Irene Pryor, nee Baker, was born Friday, October 28, 1921, at Viburnum, Missouri, a daughter of the late Harce Baker and Ida (Turnbough) Baker. She departed this life Friday November 5, 2004, at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Festus, Missouri, at the age of 83 years and 7 days. On May 31, 1941, at Ironton, Missouri, Edith was united in marriage to Winford Pryor. They were blessed with two sons, Larry and Ronald and one daughter, Linda. They have enjoyed 64 years together. Edith was preceded in death by her parents and both her sons. Ronald died as an infant and Larry was killed in Vietnam. Also preceding her in death was one brother, Noel Baker. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted husband, Winford Pryor of the home in Imperial, Missouri; one daughter, Linda Snyder and husband Ed also of Imperial, Missouri; one sister, Jeral Gallaher and husband Buck of Viburnum, Missouri; three grandchildren, Marty Hedgcoth of DeSoto, Missouri, Tammy Bourbon and husband John of Festus, Missouri, Pam Harris and husband Clint of Imperial, Missouri. Eight great grandchildren and one step great grandchild; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Paul Pryor officiating. Musical selections were provided by vocalist Michell Pyatt, Jimmy Pryor and Tina Whitaker with Pam Davis pianist. Committal prayers and interment was in Boss Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were John Bourbon, Clint Hams, Tray Haris, Bradley Hedgcoth, Brandon Hedgcoth, and Many Hedgcoth.
