MO Local Obituaries for the Week of November 19, 2003 Keith Allen Davis Keith Allen Davis was born January 4, 1961 in Rolla, Missouri, the son of Dennis and Jeanne Davis. He passed away November 7, 2003 at his home in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 42 years, 10 months and 3 days. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Dorothy Davis, Paul and Marjorie Wood and uncle Jerry Davis. Those surviving to mourn his passing are his parents, Dennis and Jeanne Davis of Cuba, Mo., one son, Derek Davis, and fiancee Nicole Atterson and his adored grandchild Haley Nicole Atterson, all of Terre Haute, Indiana. One special daughter, Madison Franklin of Summersville, Mo., one brother Ken Davis and wife Lori of Cuba, two sisters, Kathie Conaway and husband Gary of Cuba, and Karen Pilarski and husband Brian of Ballwin, Mo., nieces, nephews, cousins and many relatives and friends. Keith loved music of all types and was in several bands during his life. He was also owner of businesses P.M.C. in Virginia and Deck Pro in the St. Louis Area.Keith was a previous student at UMR and presently at UMSL, pursuing a career in law. Keith was a member of Washington Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis. Keith loved his family and especially his two special girls, Haley Nicole and Madison. Keith has battled leukemia and its side effects for eight years. He has suffered much pain for several years. He fought a good fight. He is our hero and we will miss him forever. Keith lay in state at Teague Funeral Home with visitation on Monday, November 10, 2003 from 5-8. His funeral was Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with dear friend Kevin Carlile officiating. Interment was in Smith Cemetery, Edgar Springs, Mo. Arrangements were under the direction of Teague Funeral Home, Newburg, Mo. William A. "Bill" Hanks William A. "Bill" Hanks, of New Haven, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 14, 2003 at St. John's Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri at the age of 70. He was born March 27, 1933, at Steelville, Missouri, the son of William C. Hanks and Esther Hanks (nee Glassey).On April 18, 1982, at Miami, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Spiva. He was preceded in death by his parents and by one daughter, Rita Louise Hanks and three brothers in infancy, Robert Allen, Jim and Tim. Mr. Hanks did numerous jobs during his working years. He was a over-the-road truck river, a timber cutter. He was a musician, he also owned and operated Down Home Cafe and Hwy. 50 Convenience Store in Rosebud, Mo. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Bill was a member of the New Friendship Baptist Church, Gerald, Mo. He was baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Steelville, Mo. He was also a member of the Musicians Union of Jefferson City, Mo. Those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving wife Sharon Kay, five sons, William Luvern Hanks, Gallup, New Mexico, Clayton Leroy Hanks, Jefferson City, Mo., Larry Alan and wife Myra Hanks, New Haven, Mo., Leon Paul and wife Lisa Hanks, Columbia, Mo., Leland and wife Karen Hanks, New Haven, Mo., two daughters, Rena Lynn and husband Roy Kettler, Arkansas, Rhonda Lee and husband John Adams, New Haven, Mo. Three step-sons, James Davis, Scott Davis, and Kenny Davis, all of Herington, Kansas; one sister, Catherine and husband Ralph Pinnell, Cuba, Mo., 18 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one nephew. Visitation was held on Monday, November 17, 2003 from 5-8 p.m. at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, Mo. Graveside services were held Tuesday, November 18, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Mo., officiated by Rev. Terry Knight. Eulis E. Land Eulis E. Land of Bourbon, Missouri passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at the age of 83 years. Mr. Land was born on November 23, 1919 at Leasburg, Missouri to Albert Clifton and Emma (Woods) Land. He was raised in the Leasburg area then later, for a time in the St. Louis area. During the Great Depression era the family moved back to Leasburg. On June 14, 1945 Eulis was married to Margaret Forhan and to this marriage four children were born, of which a son, David, preceded him in death. Mr. Land honorably served his country during WWII with the U.S. Marines and saw action in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and participated in action against the enemy at Baugainville, B.S.I. Later in life Mr. Land became employed with the Laclede Gas Company and later retired from there. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Creve Coeur Fire Department and later helped to form a paid department in St. Louis County, serving 13 years. He was also the first President of the Organic Garden Club of St. Louis and a 59-year member of the American Legion where he also served as Treasurer. Mr. Land was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, an active Boy Scout Master where he organized the first Troop for physically challenged boys and volunteered at various Sheltered Workshops. Upon retirement, Mr. Land moved back to the Bourbon/Leasburg area and purchased a farm that he had worked as a child. He is survived by his wife Margaret of the family home, two sons, Ralph Land of Madison, Tennessee and Harold Land of Bourbon, one daughter, Anna Conner of Bourbon, Mo., two brothers, Ernie Land-Cole of Chesterfield, Mo. and Leon Land of Charleston, Mo., two sisters, Opal Jonas of Sacramento, California and Edith Hamlin of St. Peters, Mo., two grandchildren, Amy and Shaun Conner of Bourbon, other relatives and friends. Along with his parents and son David, Mr. Land was preceded in death by four brothers, Haskil, Albert, William and Leslie Land. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2003 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Matt Schafer officiating. Interment was in the St. Paul's Cemetery, Creve Coeur, Mo. with full military honors. Laura Yvonne Long Laura Yvonne Long was born on April 23, 1970 in St. Louis, Missouri. She passed away on November 6, 2003 in Winthrop, Massachusetts at the age of 33 years, 6 months and 17 days. She is survived by one son, Hunter Long of Barrington, Massachusetts; father, Jerry Long, Steelville; mother, Yvonne LaMee, step-father Larry LaMee, and grandmother Virginina Cesak all of Okeechbee, Florida. Two brothers, Michael Long, St. Louis; and Jerry Long, Jr., Steelville, Missouri; one sister Rae Long, Great Barrington, Massachusetts; step-sisters, Nicole Dunn, Port Chester, New York and Christine Goosen, Winter Park, Florida. Aunts and Uncles, Elaine Kenyon, Daytona Beach, Florida; Norman Gerren, Okeechobee, Florida; Bill Cesak, Lawrenceville, Georgia; Bob and Judy Long, Ocala, Florida; Jess and Jean Long; St. Louis, Missouri; Elvin Eye and David Kueter, both of Steelville. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and God children. She was proceeded in death by grandparents, Norman A. Gerren, J uel Nastu, William R. Long, and Mike Nastu. Aunts and uncle, Mary Beth Eye, James and Doris Long. Laura was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Okeechobee, Florida and attended United Congregational Church in Winthrop, Massachusetts. Laura was cremated and there will be a memorial service at a later date. Jerry Perrigue Jerry Perrigue passed away on October 20, 2003, in Jacksonville, Florida. Jerry was the son of the late Ben and Lena Perrigue, of Cuba, and was a graduate of Cuba High School, Class of 1957. Jerry was the husband of Darlene Perrigue; father of Pamela (Tony) Fogarty, Paul Perrigue and Patrice Perrigue; stepfather of Taige (Tim) and Dana; grandfather of Kaylee, Tony, Cullan, Ashley, Tyler, Justin and Kylie; brother of John (Ruth) Perrigue and Dolores (Ervin) Frazier; our uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend. A Memorial Service was held at J.B. National Cemetery on October 28. Jerry was the nephew of Betty Perrigue and cousin of Elizabeth Rutz, Mary Clay, Richard and Bob Ogle, Shirley Levisey, Margaret Boldt and Virginia McMillan. Mary Eillene Pitts Mary Eillene Pitts nee Adair of Cuba, Missouri was born on May 19, 1929 in Missouri to the union of Charles Austin Adair and Rose Ellen Mahan Adair and passed away at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center of Rolla at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 24 days. On January 10, 1947 Mary was united in marriage to Raymond Pitts at Rolla, Mo. Two sons, Dan and Richard, and four daughters, Alice, Norma, Judy and Margaret were born to this union. They were happily married until Raymond preceded her in death on January 30, 1994. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Margaret Bailey, one grandson Michael Studdard and one great grandson Dakota Michael Studdard. She was a member of the Cuba Freewill Baptist Church. Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her two sons, Dan Pitts and Richard Pitts and wife Sharon; three daughters, Alice West and husband Lonnie, Norma Studdard and husband Jack and Judy Studdard and husband Larry. One brother James C. Adair and wife Jolene, four sisters, Wilma Furlong and husband Donald, Marie Brookins and husband Lawrence, Betty Vandelitch and husband Howard and Joetta West and husband Homer; brother Dennis and sister Diana; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. Mary was a devoted wife, loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Mary Eillene Pitts was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Sunday, November 16, 2003 at 2 p.m. with Norman Heironimus officiating. Interment was in the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Mo.
