MO Local Obituaries for the Week of November 20, 2018 Darlene Sue Dace Darlene Sue Dace of Anthonies Mill, Missouri, was born on December 22, 1934 in Stanton, Missouri to James Earl and Eva Dorothy (Gallinger) Woodcock and passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the age of 83 years. She grew up and attended first thought eighth grade in Stanton, Missouri and graduated from Sullivan High School in 1952. She was valedictorian of her eighth grade class. During her high school years, she was a catcher on the softball team and also played volleyball. Darlene married Tracy Donald (Don) Dace Sr. of Anthonies Mill on September 28, 1952 in Yuma, Arizona. In 1954 they returned to the Sullivan, Missouri area to live until 1959. They lived at Anthonies Mill until 1972, where they again moved north of Bourbon and lived for 42 years. In 2014, they moved back to Brazil Creek at Anthonies Mill. Darlene was a homemaker until her fourth child was born. She worked as a secretary and librarian in the Bourbon School District, a secretary at Woodland Lakes and also worked at the Livestock Barns of St. James and Cuba. Darlene was an avid gardener and loved her flowers. She was a Cub Scout Leader, worked as a Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, Bible school teacher and worked in the bus ministry. Darlene loved poetry and was known to recite a poem or two from her school years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Dorothy Woodcock; in-laws, Tracy and Deveda Dace; one grandson, Karl Swyers; three brothers, Frank Woodcock, Sr., Kenneth Woodcock and Arnold Woodcock Sr.; one niece, Karen (Woodcock) Bolvingloh; sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Charles Ferry; and sisters-in-law, Pat Woodcock and Jane (Dace) Schatz. She is survived by her husband Don of 66 years; one daughter, Deborah (Paul) Shasserre of Cuba, Missouri; three sons, Tracy D. Dace Jr. of Anthonies Mill, Missouri, Douglas (Kirsten) Dace of Sullivan, Missouri and Daron (Marla) Dace of Anthonies Mill, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Wesley Swyers of Cuba, Missouri, Tracy D. Janet Lee Edgar Janet Lee Edgar (nee Fudge) of Steelville, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Leonard and Anna Mae Fudge on December 18, 1950 and passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 28 days. In December of 1971 Janet married William "Bill" Edgar at the Cherryville Baptist Church. Janet was a beautician for several years and employed in the Crawford County Clerk's office, Perkins Lumber and for the last few years as the Administrative Assistant in the Steelville Elementary School office. She enjoyed visiting Amy and going to the beach whenever she could. Janet enjoyed buying scratch-off tickets and hoped for a good win. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Fudge; two brothers, Richard and Bobby Fudge; and sister-in-law, Janet Edgar. Nona Fern Maloy Nona Fern Maloy of Rolla, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Ernest and Goldie (Landers) Joseph and passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 at the age of 70 years. On November 23, 1971 she married James M. Maloy. Prior to retirement Nona worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Among her many interests, she enjoyed fishing, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also very involved with the Dept. of Conservation, which recognized her with numerous awards with her involvement with Hunter Safety. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Goldie Joseph; husband, James on November 9, 2015; two brothers, Ernest Joseph Jr. and Daniel Downard; and one grandson. Deloris married William Floyd Nichols. She enjoyed going out to eat and loved to read and sew. Lyman Ellsworth Skyles Lyman Ellsworth Skyles of St. James, Missouri was born June 16, 1939 in St. James, Missouri to Lyman J. and Edna W. (Gerren) Skyles and passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the age of 79 years. After Lyman graduated high school he joined the Army Reserves and took some college courses. On November 21, 1959 he married Dora Sweeney. Lyman loved reading newspaper, books and magazines, and he turned his love of reading into a lifelong career in newspaper and radio. He worked for many radio stations and newspapers throughout Missouri, locally The St. James Leader Journal and KZNN, taking on any role they had to offer, from radio host, to newspaper editor and reporter. He was a very knowledgeable man and was a great storyteller. He could tell you the whole history of St. James, facts about St. James that you may have never known, but really enjoyed hearing. He loved dogs and cats and felt it his responsibility to feed the local feral cats that came along. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends for some friendly conversations and a few laughs. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was preceded in death by his son, Vernon "Eddie" Skyles; infant brother; brother, George Skyles; and sister, Margaret Jose. Connie Sue Southard Connie Sue Southard of St. James, Missouri was born on September 18, 1966 in Phelps County, Missouri to Donald Melville and Velma (Gibson) Melville-Brooks and passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the age of 52 years, 1 month and 21 days. She was a custodian and worked for the Public School District and 10 years with Melville Boarding and Care, taking care of mentally disabled people which was a family business. She enjoyed being around family and friends. She liked to watch tv, comedies and recent shows. Connie grew up in California then moved to Missouri in 2004 to be close to her family. She had a good kind heart. She was preceded in death by her step father, Ed Brooks; one son, Johnny Iannace; and infant daughter, Vanessa Tolbert.
