"Bill" Aaron Sr. passed away on November 7, 2016, at the age of 94 years. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army/Air Corps at Scott Field, Illinois in September, 1942 and went overseas December, 1943 where he served with the 15th Air Force. Sgt. Aaron was assigned to the 450th Bomb Group Cottontails as a maintenance technician and airplane mechanic based in Italy. For his service he was awarded the Distinguished Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the The European-African Middle East Theatre Ribbon with 11 bronze battle stars. He was discharged in September 1945. In 1947 he was appointed as a member of the Army Advisory Committee for the Fifth United States Army in Rolla, Missouri. He married Hazel Carroll on September 4, 1941. Bill was a cattleman and long-time Rolla businessman. He grew up working with his father on the family farm and at the family business, an automobile dealership. After the war, he continued working with his father and in the 1940s and 1950s started Aaron's Radiator Service and Aaron's Boats and Motors. He finally turned the business over to family but continued to check on the business he started. Throughout his life he ran cattle on the Aaron farm west of Rolla, Missouri on the same property that has been in the family for 100 years. Bill was a life-long member of Rolla Masonic Lodge # 213 A.F & A.M., York Rite, Scottish Rite, Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Club and Eastern Star. He served as Rajah to the South Central Missouri Shrine Club and enjoyed entertaining children (both young and old) as a SOCMO Clown. He actively sought out and transported many children to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a member of the Rolla VFW Post #2025 and a past-commander of the American Legion Post #270. He was a member of the Greentree Christian Church. Bill and Hazel loved to travel and in their later years enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and many countries. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Aaron; parents, William D. and Lynna Aaron; sister, Dorothy Stayton and brother, Tom Aaron. William Cowling William Cowling of Rolla, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 1, 1936 to Irvin and Margaret Bascom (Perkins) Cowling and passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the age of 80 years. He was married to Joann Munsell September 14, 1957 until Joann's passing, June 5, 1993. He married Joyce Maxwell on November 30, 2005, in Vienna, Missouri. He served his country with the United States Navy as a Seaman from 1954-1958 serving on the USS Barry. He was a truck driver for Consolidated Freight in Kansas City and a member of Teamster Local 41. In his later years, he was a proud member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Rolla, Missouri. On June 6, 1953 she married Robert "Bob" L. Crabtree in Pocahontas, Arkansas. JoAnn was employed several years as a medical clerk. When living in St. Louis, she always enjoyed square dancing. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bourbon, Missouri. For about 15 years, she volunteered in the local thrift shop. JoAnn spent many loving hours making quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funkhouser Sr. of Bourbon, Missouri was born on June 5, 1942 to George and Edith (Dudley) Funkhouser in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Saturday, November 13, 2016 at the age of 74 years. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962. He was united in marriage to Jackie Neff in 1974. Gary was employed in appliance repair business for many years. He then drove a school bus for Bourbon, Missouri and made many lasting friendships with the children he took to and from school. Gary had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and joke. He loved his family and spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edith Funkhouser. Lucille "Lou" Hawn Lucille "Lou" Hawn of Cuba, Missouri was born Friday, November 26, 1920 at Desloge, Missouri to Benjamin H. and Betsy Cleo (nee Goodson) Slinkard and passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the age of 95 years. Lou attended Granton Grade School and continued her education at Hodgens School located on Harriett and California Street through the 10th grade. Her favorite subjects were music and recess. After the 10th grade, Lou met a tall dark handsome man named Andrew Ezekiel Hawn while attending church. They dated for a year before they were married on May 26, 1939 at her parents' home on St. Vincent Street by Pastor A.L. Roach. Lou's first job was working at Central Weavers, where she was asked to mend linen tablecloths at $10 per week. Lou also worked at the United Bag Company, was a waitress, clerk at Walgreens and worked in the bakery at Kroger's during the years she worked. Lou was an active and faithful member of the Cuba Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed visiting old friends. Going shopping and sharing a prepared meal. Lou did ceramics for years, was on a bowling league from 1963 to 1982 and always treasured playing the piano and the organ for her church. Up until a week ago, Lou knitted washcloths and shared them with all of her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Betsy Slinkard; husband, Andy Hawn; one son, William Andrew "Bill" Hawn; one granddaughter, Maggie; and two sisters, Mary and husband Earl and Ruth. He married the love of his life, Gloria Eddington in 1975. Robert worked for the James Foundation for 16 years as a park maintenance specialist. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He also really enjoyed western movies, his favorite actor was John Wayne, and his favorite movie was "The Shootist." Charley Edward Hudson III Charley Edward Hudson III of Rolla, Missouri, formerly of Tupelo, Mississippi, was born in Tupelo on January 17, 1976, to Charley Edward, Jr. and Martha Dean Gattis Hudson and passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the age of 40 years. Charley graduated high school in 1994 from Lakeview Christian School, currently called Lakeview Baptist Academy. He graduated from Mississippi State University in December of 1999 as an animal science major. Charley served in the United States Army from 1994 to 2003 and reached the rank of Captain. For active duty he was first stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas, where he met his future wife, Latricia Papes, before being transferred to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He continued to serve the Army as an operations technician for both Basic Training and Advanced Training. His most recent position was in the Fort Leonard Wood Hospital as a medical staff credentials assistant. Charley and Latricia were married September 14, 2002. He was raised in Lakeview Baptist Church and currently attended First Baptist Church in St. James, Missouri. Charley loved to hunt and fish in Tupelo. Charley was a sports enthusiast. Charley loved his son and best buddy, Jesse. He coached his son's baseball and basketball teams and enjoyed playing sports video games with Jesse. Charley played coed softball and volleyball with Latricia and enjoyed listening to all genres of music. Richard accepted the Lord in his life and formerly attended Cherryville Baptist Church, Cherryville, Missouri. He married Patricia "Pat" Ogle on December 31, 1950 at the Cherryville Baptist Church and to this union four children were born. He served our country honorably in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of Teamsters Local 682. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting and spending time with his family. Vickie earned her Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Columbia College and worked several years as a tax accountant for H&R Block. She was a member of the First Apostolic Church of Cuba, Missouri where she had previously served as a Sunday School teacher and pianist. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
