MO Local Obituaries for the Week of November 24, 2015 Irvine Louis Bowers Irvine Louis Bowers of Cuba, Missouri was born May 21, 1924 at Howes Mill, Missouri in Dent County to Otis W. and Lucy Caroline Wyman Bowers and passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 28 days. On January 2, 1955 in Salem, Missouri, married Imogene Edgar. Irvine served honorably in the U.S. States Army from 1943-1946 as a rifleman. He was in the 32nd Red Arrow infantry and fought from French Haven, New Guinea to the shores of Japan earning three Bronze Stars. Irvine worked at the Stock Yards in East St. Louis and dabbled in a dairy farm and real estate for a few years. He worked for Roberts-Judson at the Ready Mix Plant from 1965 to 1972. Irvine brought the first round hay baler to Crawford County around 1973 and he later began his 25 year career with Vermeer Manufacturing. Throughout most of his life, he was a cattle farmer. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba since 1966 and served as an Elder. He was involved for many years in the American Angus Association, Crawford County Cattleman's Association, National Cattleman's Association, member of the DAV and member of the VFW Post 6479 of Steelville, Missouri. He was an avid reader, loved to play a game of pool, enjoyed raising Angus cattle and enjoyed traveling on the Angus tours. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Lucy Bowers. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Imogene Bowers of Cuba, Missouri; one son, Andrew Bowers of Cuba, Missouri; and one daughter, Peggy Dyson and husband Kenny of Maplewood, Missouri; two sisters, Dormalie Lea and husband Bill and Mary West all of Steelville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Tara Burns and husband Sam, A.J. Bowers and wife Felicia, Ethan Bowers and fianceŽ Ashley Norman and Elijah Bowers; four great grandchildren, Rayland and Rhett Burns and Danica and Lane Bowers; other relatives and friends. Jimmy Allen Conway Jimmy Allen Conway of Salem, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 27, 1954 to Earnest Paul and Mary Maudelene (Thomas) Conway and passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at the age of 61. Jimmy was united in marriage to Nancy Rector on June 10, 1989 and this union was also joined with her daughter, Angie. Jimmy loved his family, and his pets. His hobbies included playing cards, hunting, fishing and putting his cat "Puddin" on a leach. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Conway; his wife, Nancy; and his brother, Richie White. He is survived by his brother, Michael Conway of Salem, Missouri; step-daughter, Angie; aunt, Alma Coleman and husband Michael of Salem, Missouri; uncle, Johnny Conway of St. James, Missouri; nephews, James Conway of St. James, Missouri and Chance Conway of Chicago, Illinois; other relatives and friends. Catherine R. "Cathy" Edelen Catherine R. "Cathy" Edelen of Cuba, Missouri was born September 11, 1946 at St. Louis, Missouri to Charles and Mary (nee Tucker) Desemone and passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the age of 69 years. Cathy married Charles "Charlie" Edelen on April 11, 1987 at St. Louis, Missouri. Cathy worked in the accounting department for the Dana Brake Parts Company when it was located in Cuba and she retired in 2007 when the plant closed. Cathy was currently volunteering as the church secretary at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cuba and she was a devout member of the church. She was a member of the Tri-C Club of Cuba and many other organizations. In her spare time Cathy enjoyed reading, playing solitaire and Candy Crush. Cathy spoiled her cat Pita for the last 16 years and she truly enjoyed living and spending time on the Indian Hills Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Desemone; and husband of 23 years, Charlie Edelen on December, 26, 2010. Charles Hughes Charles Hughes of Rolla, Missouri was born on June 7, 1930 in St. James, Missouri to Oscar Hadley and Ima (Pitts) Hughes and passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at the age of 85 years. Charles served in the Army National Guard and Active Duty Army. He was united in marriage on December 27, 1995 to Betty Hainline. Charles enjoyed playing craps, fishing and spending time with his family and pets. Charles loved spending time with his grandson and granddaughter. He would ride his scooter to the park to fish with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ima Hughes; sister, Jeannie; and daughters, Brenda and Leona. Bessie Angeline Jackson Bessie Angeline Jackson (nee Avery) of Ballwin, Missouri was born on Friday, January 7, 1938 in Leasburg, Missouri to William Trezzie and Rebal Lettie (Brown) Avery and passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 8 days. Bessie worked for Wagon Wheel Restaurant as a cook and while doing so she met Donald George Jackson. They married at a Lutheran Church in Bourbon, Missouri on July 6, 1964 and to this union two sons were born. She later worked as a cafeteria cook for JFK High School in Ballwin, Missouri. Bessie was a Christian and a loving homemaker. She was known as a caregiver to many and always willing to help. She loved her dog, "Cash", named after her favorite musician, Johnny Cash. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald George Jackson; parents, Trezzie and Rebal Avery; parents-in-law, George and Elsie (Reichert) Jackson; sister, Grace (Al) Mallow; brothers, Kenneth (Mildred) Avery and John (Beverly) Avery; and brothers-in-law Charles Cook and Thomas Suerig. Jones of Maryland Heights, Missouri was born on Sunday, July 23, 1922 in Steelville, Missouri to John Edwin and Oma Laura Veach Jones and passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the age of 93 years, 3 months and 23 days. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII in the 860 Engineer Aviation Battalion. He married Dolores E. Mullen on October 19, 1946 in Steelville, Missouri and to this union two children were born. After his military service, he worked as a mechanic in the Ford Motor Assembly Plant in Hazelwood, Missouri. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Occidental Lodge #623 in Overland, Missouri and a member of Fee Fee Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, teacher and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. His hobbies were bowling, hunting, fishing, woodworking and he even built his own home. He married Arlene Spurgeon of Cuba, Missouri on Saturday, April 14, 1962 in Belle, Missouri. Dennis was a member at Clearfork Baptist Church in Weatherford, Texas, then at Avenue D Baptist Church in Snyder, Texas. He also drove for "Meals on Wheels" at the Scurry County Senior Center. He loved to hunt, fish and work in the garden. He was a graduate of Linn Tech College. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Cora Luecke; brother, Charles Luecke; grandson, Justin Farmer; and sister Nadine Luecke. Alene Tutterrow Alene Tutterrow of Sullivan, Missouri was born on June 28, 1923 at Elmont, Missouri to Ernest Winford and Elva Elda (Webb) Boster and passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the age of 92 years. She was united in marriage to Paul Tutterrow on May 23, 1942 at Sullivan, Missouri and three children were born to their union. Paul and Alene made their home on Wenkel Ford Road in Spring Bluff, Missouri from 1967 to 2011. They enjoyed fishing in their lake. Alene was a charter member of Faith Assembly of God in Sullivan, Missouri and served as Elementary Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She was also active in Women's Ministries, quilting and the preparation of many church dinners. She was well known for her cinnamon rolls and she enjoyed making them for friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Elva Boster; husband, Paul in 2011; her great granddaughter, Shelby Tutterrow; three sisters, Ferne Richardson and husband, Bud, Elda Hall and husband, Billy O. Hall and Leona Tourville; and brother-in-law, George Tutterrow.
