Mary Elizabeth Gowseiow
Mary Elizabeth Gowseiow, nee Griffin, of Cuba, Missouri,
was born May 13, 1913 at Monroe City, Missouri to the union of
Walter and Gertrude, nee King, Griffin and left from this life on
Sunday, November 27, 2005 at Cuba Manor, Cuba, Missouri, at the age
of 92 years, 6 months and 24 days.
Mary was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers
Edward and Walter Griffin Jr. and one sister Ruth Warren.
Those who are left to mourn her passing are two sons,
Ernest (Anastasia) Dietrich of Cuba, Missouri and Robert E. (Bonnie)
Dietrich of St. Charles, Missouri; one sister, Peggy Rose Hodgson of
St. Charles, Missouri; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren
and other relatives and friends.
Mary was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and
friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 1,
2005 at 1 p.m. at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel, Cuba, Missouri
with Rev. Earl Horsefield officiating.
Bernie C. Green
Bernie C. Green, nee Sypniewski, of Cuba, Missouri was
born to the union of Andrew and Bertha, nee Kreasky, Sypniewski on
February 13, 1929 at St. Louis, Missouri and left from this life on
Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Cuba Manor at the age of 76 years 9
months and 10 days.
Bernie was united in marriage on September 12, 1952 to
George J. Green Jr. at Tunica, Mississippi and to this union three
children were born: Jerry, Tom and Chris.
Bernie is preceded in death by her parents.
Those who are left to mourn her passing is her loving
husband George, two sons; Jerry Green of St. Charles, Missouri and
Tom and wife Lori Green of Villa Ridge, Missouri; one daughter Chris
Green of Cuba, Missouri.
Seven grandchildren: John, Mark, Joey, Cassie, Katie,
Emma and Will; one sister Rose Kirk of Silver Springs, Maryland and
two brothers Bud and Bob Sypniewski and a host of other relatives
and friends.
Bernie was a loving wife, mother, mother in law,
grandmother, sister and friend and will be deeply missed by all who
knew and loved her.
Visitation was held Sunday, November 27 from 1-6 p.m. at
Britton Funeral Home, Cuba.
Funeral service was held 11 a.m. Monday, November 28 at
Britton Funeral Home, Cuba with Gary Mace officiating. Interment
followed at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Ed Hughes
Edward Sylvester Hughes of Cuba, Missouri was born on
Friday, September 30, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of
Hoyt Sylvester Hughes and Viola Beatrice Worley Hughes. He passed
away in his home on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at the age of 78
years, 1 month, and 16 days.
Ed served his country honorably in the United States
Army during WWII. He later married Eileen Adams at First Baptist
Church, St. James, Missouri on January, 2, 1949 and to this union
two children were born.
Ed professed his faith in Jesus Christ in the fall of
1950. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Cuba, Missouri where
he was ordained a deacon on March 15, 1959. He served faithfully as
a Sunday School teacher and trustee. He was a member of the River
Valley Rod and Custom Car Club and the Cuba American Legion Post
#522 where he served as a treasurer. He also served two years on the
city council as alderman for Ward I. Ed had a passion for Ford cars
especially his model A Ford that he drove with pride and entered in
many car shows winning several trophies and ribbons. Ed also enjoyed
deer hunting with his brothers, cutting wood, and most of all
spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ervin
and Bernie Hughes; sister Patsy Hughes; brothers-in-law Jim Powers
and Gene Tipton; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Hughes, Pauline Hughes, and
Dorotha Basford and husband Jim.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife of
the home; children Vickie Routon of Van Alstyne, Texas and Eddie
Hughes of Cuba, Missouri; brothers Carl Hughes of Poplar Bluff,
Missouri, Art Hughes and wife Dixie, Jim Hughes, Paul Hughes and
wife Lisa, Joe Hughes and wife Jackie all of Cuba, Missouri, Fern
Powers of St. Louis, Missouri, Gloria Cavanaugh and husband Jack of
Hernando, Florida, Bonnie Stephens and husband Howard of Buford,
Missouri, Barbara Palmer and husband Jim of Cuba, Missouri.
Sisters-in-law Eiko Hughes of Warren, Ohio, Barbara
Dondero of Sullivan, Missouri, Mary Tipton of Cuba, Missouri, and
brother-in-law Edwin Adams and wife Alma Lee of St. James, Missouri.
Grandchildren Brian Routon, Erin Routon, Hilary Routon,
Johnny Seitz, and Jamie Hughes; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many
friends.
Visitation was Friday, November 18, 2005 from 5-9 p.m.
at the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral Service was Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 11
a.m., at First Baptist Church, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Bob Knight
officiating.
Lisa Lorraine sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's
Prayer" accompanied by Deanna Spurgeon.
Burial followed at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba,
Missouri with pallbearers Carl, Art, Jim. Paul, Joe, and Buddy
Hughes.
All arrangements under the direction of the Hutson
Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Bobby Matlock Kreamalmeyer
Bobby Matlock Kreamalmeyer, 80, of Blacksburg, Virginia,
died Thursday, November 24, 2005 at Montgomery Regional Hospital.
He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 29, 1925 to
the late William Joseph and Mary Effie Stough Kreamalmeyer.
He was a member of the Blacksburg Baptist Church and a
veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific in the Navy.
He retired in 1987 from the Gulf Oil Co. with 40 years
of service. He was Past Grand Patron of the Order of the Eastern
Star in Pennsylvania. He was also a member of the Lebanon Masonic
Lodge in Steelville, Missouri.
He lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for 37 years where
he was very active in community affairs serving on the school board,
township commissioner and president of the Greater Pittsburgh
Aquatic Club.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean D.
Kreamalmeyer, of Blacksburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Heidi and
Bruce Harper, of Blacksburg, Robyn and Don Gregg, of Slippery Rock,
Pennsylvania. Grandchildren, Andrew Harper, Daniel Harper, Matthew
Harper, Dustin Gregg and Lindsay Gregg.
Memorial services were conducted Sunday, November 27,
2005 at 4 p.m. in the Blacksburg Baptist Church with the Dr. Tommy
McDearis and Dr. Don McKinney officiating.
Arrangements were by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg,
Virginia.
Keith Alan Payne
Keith Alan Payne was born Tuesday, August 20, 1957 in
Fort Pierce, Florida, a son of Virginia (Brooks) Payne and the late
Victor Payne.
He departed this life Saturday, November 21, 2005 at his
home in Pace, Florida at the age of 48 years, 2 months and 22 days.
In addition to his father, Keith was preceded in death
by his grandfather, Alfred B. Payne and an infant half-brother Gary
David Payne.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his mother
Virginia Payne of Steelville, Missouri; his wife Stephanie Payne;
one daughter Sara Lynn Payne of Alabama; twin sons Jason L. Payne
and Justin L. Payne of Florida; one sister Amelia Jane "Amy" and
husband Jerry Rulo of Steelville, Missouri.
Two half brothers Victor Payne, Jr. and wife Lynn of
Rolla, Missouri and James Leroy Payne, Sr. of Farmington, Missouri;
three half sisters Connie Sue and husband Ray Allen of Rolla,
Missouri, Barbara Jean Davis of Oklahoma and Gail Arlene Lamb of St.
Louis, Missouri; niece and nephew Jennafer Rulo and Jeramy Rulo of
Steelville, Missouri; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and
many friends.
Keith Alan Payne lay in state 6-8 p.m. Wednesday,
November 16, 2005 at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the
Britton Chapel with Rev. Kevin Farr officiating. Musical selections
were provided by Bob and Carol Coleman.
Committal prayers and interment were in the Cedar Grove
Cemetery, Salem, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Rulo,
Rufus Beezley, Rev. Kevin Farr, Bob Coleman and Steve Eads.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Bros.
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Jeffrey Blake Rathgeb
Jeffrey Blake Rathgeb of Boynton Beach, Florida, loved
son, brother, friend and teacher was called to his heavenly home on
November 25, 2005.
Jeff was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on June 20, 1963
and resided in Saline, Michigan until moving to Florida in 1976. He
graduated from Lake Worth High School and received his Bachelor of
Science Degree in Zoology from the University of Florida.
After serving as Director of Youth Ministries at Lake
Osborne Presbyterian Church for several years, be became a science
teacher at Lake Worth Christian School. There with his students and
friends he formed a bond that would last for 13 years until cancer
ended his life at age 42.
His parents Dr. and Mrs. John M. Rathgeb; brother John
Rathgeb, sister Toni Savage; brother-in-law Gary Savage; niece
Lauren Mattox and uncle Teddy Slowensky, all from Royal Palm Beach,
Florida survive him. He also leaves behind hundreds of students that
considered being his children.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday,
December 4, at Lake Osborne Presbyterian Church.
Burial will be in the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home,
Cuba, Missouri.
Vernon Edward Rector
Vernon Edward Rector of Bourbon, Missouri was born
January 17, 1933 to the union of Frank Edward Rector and Elsie
Elizabeth, nee Neumann, Rector-Bechter at Bourbon, Missouri and left
from this life on Monday, November 21, 2005 at his home in Bourbon,
Missouri at the age of 72 years 10 months and 4 days.
Vernon was united in marriage to Gloria M. Landon on
October 11, 1952 at Sullivan, Missouri and to this union five
children was born: Debra, Douglas, Daral, Denise and Denis.
Vernon was the former owner operator of Rector Pallet
and Lumber.
Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, one brother
Harold Melvin Rector and one sister Rita Sowards.
Those he leaves behind to mourn his passing is his
loving wife Gloria, three sons: Douglas Edward and Trina Rector,
Daral Edwin and wife Susan Rector and Denis Elvin Rector, all of
Bourbon, Missouri; two daughters; Debra Ann Rector of Sullivan,
Missouri and Denise Alisa Pipkin of Willard, Missouri.
Three sisters: Helen Lewis of Johnson City, Tennessee,
Dorla "Dean" Summers of Springfield, Missouri and Wanda Myers of
Cuba, Missouri. Ten grandchildren, including Shannon, who always
called Vernon "Dad"; three great grandchildren and a host of other
relatives and friends.
Vernon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great
grandfather, brother, brother in law, uncle, cousin and friend and
will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation was held from 4:30-8:00 p.m. Wednesday,
November 23 at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral Service was held 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 25
at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Thomas Wehrman
officiating. Interment followed at Bacon Cemetery, Bourbon,
Missouri.
Samantha C. Stroud
Samantha C. Stroud was born June 4, 1974 at Fairfax,
Virginia to the union of Henry and Lois, nee Daniel, and left from
this life on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Cuba, Missouri at the
age 30 years, 5 months and 22 days.
Those who are left to mourn her passing are her two
beautiful children. Daughter Alyssa Fowler and son Jarret Smith;
devoted parents, Henry and Lois and loving fiancée Gary A. "Jim"
Putman and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, November 30 from 9:15
a.m. until 10 a.m. at Britton Funeral Home. Funeral services were
held Wednesday, November 30 at 10 a.m. with Father James Finder
officiating.
Andrew Raymond Walsh, Jr.
Andrew Raymond Walsh, Jr., Galena, Missouri, son of
Andrew and Inez (Fetters) Walsh, was born June 12, 1943 in the state
of Missouri and departed this life November 17, 2005 in Barnes
Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 62 years, 5
months and 5 days.
Andy was a graduate of Cuba High School, attended two
years at Hannibal Seminary and graduated from Bailey Tech in St.
Louis. He loved boating, swimming and riding on jet skis. Andy was
an avid bass fisherman, golf instructor and coin collector. He was a
member of the Shenandoah Baptist Church in Martinsburg, West
Virginia.
Andy was united in marriage to Agnes Olinger on December
27, 1969 and they raised their family in Martinsburg. He retired
from General Motors. While living in Galena, Andy attended Cedar
Ridge Baptist Church. He had a great sense of humor and a charm and
loving way about him.
Andy was preceded in death by his father and one son
Steven Edward Cole.
Survivors include his wife Agnes of Galena; his mother
Inez Walsh of Reed Spring; six sons Perry Cole of Jacksonville,
Florida, Randolph Todd Cole, Wayne Lester Cole, Tracey Scott Cole
and Mark Steven Cole, all of Martinsburg, West Virginia and Mark
Anthony Walsh of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; two daughters Terri Lynne
Minco and Ginger Walsh Barlety, both of Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Two sisters Candy Warnecke of Reed Springs and Sandy
Gause of Deltona, Florida; nine grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family and friends gathered at his home Sunday, November
20, 2005 for a special gathering of prayer and message by Mike
Keeter. Final disposition was cremation under the direction of
Stumpff Funeral Home-South, Kimberling City.
Anna May White
Anna May White, nee Martin, of Steelville, Missouri, was
born Friday, August 22, 1924 at Cherryville, Missouri; a daughter of
the late Robert Clark "Dick" Martin and Frona, nee Trask, Martin.
She entered eternal life Saturday, November 19, 2005, at
the age of 81 years, 2 months and 19 days at the home of her son,
Fred and Barbara White, Cuba, Missouri, after a short battle with
cancer.
Anna May faithfully served the Lord for many years. She
was attending Elayer Pentecostal Church, Steelville, Missouri at the
time of her death.
In addition to her parents, Dick and Frona, Anna May was
preceded in death by her husbands, James Burrus (killed in Italy in
WW II) and Everett White; two sons, Edward White and Timothy Lee
White; and one granddaughter, Melissa Ann White.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her
devoted children, James Burns and wife Josephine of Davisville,
Missouri, Vernon White and wife Darlene of St. Clair, Missouri, Fred
White and wife Barbara, Robert White and wife Chris, and Donna
Metcalf all of Cuba, Missouri; Paul White and wife Lisa of St.
Louis, Missouri, and Bill White and wife Jan of Steelville,
Missouri.
Four brothers, Cecil Martin and wife Flo of Cherryville,
Missouri, Albert Martin and wife Lorene, Jim Martin and wife Betty
all of Steelville, Missouri; and Henry Martin and wife Bonnie of
Davisville, Missouri. Two sisters, Roberta White and Mable Volner,
both of Steelville, Missouri; 19 grandchildren; 17 great
grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews,
cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Anna Mae White lay in state noon until 8 p.m. Tuesday,
November 22, 2005 at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Wednesday, November
23, 2005 in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Loise Moses officiating and
assisted by Rev. Mark Smith. Musical selections were provided by
grandson, James Burrus III.
Committal prayer and interment was in the Steelville
Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.
Honoring their grandmother as pallbearers were Daniel
White, David White, Jason White, Jerid Thomas, Nick White and Tim
White and honorary pallbearers Chad White and Charles White.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
