Donald Eugene Collier
Donald Eugene Collier of Cuba, Missouri, passed away on
Monday, November 13, 2006 at the Clear Lake Regional Medical Center
in Webster, Texas. He was 70 years old.
Donald was born to William Collier and Flora Nowack in
Maplewood, Missouri on July 18, 1936. He was united in marriage to
Betty Jean Spurgeon in Owensville, Missouri on December 29, 1956.
He spent his professional life of 37 years with
Petrolite-Tretolite Chemical Company in both Webster Groves,
Missouri and Bayport, Texas. He was a Past Master of Masonic Lodge
No. 616 A.F. & A.M. in Brentwood, Missouri and also served his
country in the United States Army in 1955 and 1956.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his
step father, Dave Brooks and sisters, Willadeen Hengstenberg,
Burnadine Branson and Betty Lee Caldwell.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jean Collier of Cuba,
Missouri; brother, Roger Collier of Rolla, Missouri; three
sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law and 12 nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Donald's life, officiated by Rev. Paul
Latham and Donald's nephew, Rev. Craig Lee Branson, was held Monday,
November 20 at the Methodist Church in Cuba, Missouri.
Interment was at the Memorial Gardens in Owensville,
Missouri under the direction of the Gottenstroetter Funeral Home,
Owensville, Missouri.
Rayella Eaton
Rayella Eaton nee Turnbough of Cherryville, Missouri was
born on Wednesday, February 5, 1941 to Ray Turnbough and Della
Elizabeth Worley Turnbough. She passed away on Saturday, November
18, 2006 at the age of 65 years, 9 months and 13 days.
Rayella married Garland E. Eaton Sr. in Rolla, Missouri
on July 22, 1956 and to this union three children were born.
She was the co-owner of Ponderosa Pallet Mill and a
devoted homemaker. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting,
making blankets and Christmas ornaments.
She attended many of her grandchildren's sporting events
and activities. For many years she bought Christmas outfits for her
grandchildren whom she was very proud of. Rayella will be greatly
missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Della;
brothers-in-law, Nelson Eaton and Norris Eaton; and her grandmother,
Edna Worley, who raised her.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her husband,
Garland, of the home; children, Garland E. Sonny Eaton Jr. and wife
Susan of Cherryville, Missouri, Kim Wayne Eaton and wife Becky of
Keysville, Missouri and Larry Ray Eaton and companion Cathy Deluca
of Cherryville, Missouri; father, Ray Turnbough of Ft. Meyers,
Florida.
Brothers-in-law, Noel Eaton and wife Toni of Patterson,
Missouri and Norman Eaton and wife Margie of Steelville, Missouri;
sisters-in-law, Ruth Eaton of Steelville, Missouri and Diane Eaton
of St. Louis, Missouri; aunt, Eva Pospeshil of Cherryville,
Missouri.
Grandchildren, Jason Eaton, Mandy Sanders, Candice
Richter, Megan Jones, Thomas, Lindsay and Jenna Eaton, Nathan
Deluca, Justin and Logan Eaton, Mallary and Mason Goodwin; great
grandchildren, Kaitlyn McKellips, Dylan and Hailey Jones, Trysten
Richter and Chase Sanders; nieces, nephews, cousins and many
friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, November 21, 2006 from 5-9 p.m.
at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 11
a.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev.
Delmar Hutson officiating.
Burial at Cherryville Baptist Cemetery, Cherryville,
Missouri with pallbearers Kyle Deason, Artie Pospeshil, Thomas
Eaton, Logan Eaton, Justin Eaton and Mason Goodwin.
All arrangements under the direction of the Hutson
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Vivian M. Mitchell
Vivian M. Mitchell, nee Ferguson, of Cuba, Missouri,
daughter of Roy and Laura (Helling) Ferguson, passed away Friday,
November 24, 2006 at the age of 95.
She was the beloved wife of the late James Mitchell and
Hubert Ray Coon; mother of Rayjeana (Leo) Kell, Janet (Paul) Sagez
and the late Melvin Lee Coon; grandmother of Cynthia (Mark) Klein,
Alan (Suzanne) Ricotta, Barbara Ricotta, John S. Ricotta, Vincent
Ricotta, Gina Ricotta and Maria Ricott; great grandmother, aunt and
friend.
Visitation was at the Kutis City Funeral Home in St.
Louis, Missouri on Monday, November 27, 2006 from 9 a.m. until the
service time of 11 a.m. Interment was at the Mount Hope Cemetery,
St. Louis, Missouri.
Lyle A. Nelson
Lyle A. Nelson, 94, of Seymour, Indiana passed away
Monday, November 20, 2006 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour,
Indiana. She moved to Seymour from Avon Park, Florida in 2002 to be
near her family.
She was born on December 8, 1911 in Cuba, Missouri, the
daughter of Jacob A. and Florence (Maxwell) Dorf, both of whom
preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by six
brothers, three sisters and a great grandson, Tristan Logan
Blankenship.
On July 4, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri, she married
Clinton J. Nelson of Olney, Illinois. He preceded her in death on
July 15, 1987. After her marriage she moved to Rantoul, Illinois,
while her husband served in the Army-Air Corps until 1947. They then
moved to Olney, Illinois and after her husband's retirement they
moved to Avon Park, Florida. She was a member of First United
Methodist Church of Avon Park, Florida, the American Legion
Auxiliary and 8 & 40 of Olney, Illinois.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald (Sue) Nelson of
Seymour, Indiana and Richard Nelson of Nashua, New Hampshire; three
grandchildren, Michael (Kathy) Nelson and Amy (Shawn) Blankenship of
Seymour, Indiana and Melanie Nelson of Meredith, New Hampshire;
three great grandchildren, Mikaela, Rachael and Erin Nelson, all of
Seymour, Indiana.
Visitation was held Monday, November 27, 2006 from 5-8
p.m. at Voss Chapel and also at Fountain Funeral Home on Saturday,
December 2, 2006 from 9:30-11 a.m. Services will begin at 11 a.m. at
Fountain Funeral Home in Avon Park, Florida. Burial in Bougainvilla
Gardens Cemetery in Avon Park, Florida.
Thomas Elmo Stephens
Thomas Elmo Stephens, 83, of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of
the Leachville, Arkansas and Cardwell, Missouri areas, passed away
Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Sullivan Baptist Hospital in Sullivan,
Missouri.
He was born at Monette, the son of the late Thomas
Jefferson Stephens and Hattie Virginia Byrns Stephens and had been a
resident of Cuba, Missouri for the past 13 years. He was a US Navy
Veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Gist Stephens of the
home; two sons, Thomas J. Stephens and Douglas Stephens, both of
Cuba, Missouri; three daughters, Cheryl Broderick of DeSoto,
Missouri, Karen Boudouris of Greenville, Illinois and Cathy Borovac
of Weeping Water, Nebraska.
Four sisters, Pearl Howell and Billie Shook of
Paragould, Arkansas, Maxine Hinson of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Joan
Roush of Columbia, Illinois. He also leaves nine grandchildren, five
great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Visitation was Friday evening, November 24, 2006, from
6-8 p.m. at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral services were
held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 25 at the Howard Funeral Service
Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Royce Boling officiating. Burial
followed in Cardwell Cemetery.
Local arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
