Mary Lou Copling
Mary Louise Copling nee Petty of Lebanon, Missouri was
born on Monday, September 5, 1932 in Paragould, Arkansas to William
Petty and Ona Mae Hoskins Petty. She passed away at Christian Health
Care South in Lebanon, Missouri on Sunday, November 26, 2006 at the
age of 74 years, 2 months and 21 days.
Mary Lou married Benjamin Thomas Copling on December 24,
1949 in St. Louis, Missouri and to this union three children were
born. They resided in Cuba, Missouri for a few years where they
owned and operated the U-Save Café. They later moved to Lebanon,
Missouri and Mary Lou worked as a waitress for over 20 years at the
dining lodge in Bennett Springs, Missouri.
She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church near
Phillipsburg, Missouri. Her hobbies were cooking and sewing. She was
a loving wife, mother and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband,
Benjamin Copling; infant sister, Joanne Petty; sister, Melba Riley;
and brother-in-law, Perry Eddleman.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her children,
Jim Copling and wife Teresa of Overland Park, Kansas, Larry Copling
of Lebanon, Missouri and Patricia Nord and husband Scott of
Owensboro, Kentucky; sisters, Marilyn Copling and husband Leroy of
Cuba, Missouri and Mona Hawkins of Fulton, Missouri; brothers,
Robert Petty and wife Sheila of Salina, Kansas and William E. Petty
of St. Louis, Missouri.
Brother-in-law, Henry Copling and wife Patsy of Cuba,
Missouri; sisters-in-law, Bernice Hayes of Steelville, Missouri,
Artie Eddleman of Lebanon, Missouri, Rosemary Campbell and husband
Mike of Cuba, Missouri; granddaughter, Hunter McKensie Nord; nieces,
nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation was Wednesday, November 29, 2006 from 11 a.m.
to 1 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 1
p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with Brother Henry
Copling officiating.
Burial at Lick Creek Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson
Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Kim Jay Green
Kim Jay Green, 48, of Jefferson City, Missouri and
passed away Friday, December 1, 2006, at Capital Region Medical
Center, Jefferson City, Missouri.
He was born on September 10, 1958 in Clayton, Missouri,
the son of Glen Leroy and Jessie Marie Nichol Green.
He was a 1976 graduate of Southwest High School in St.
Louis; received the Bachelor of Journalism degree from the
University of Missouri in 1980; and the Master of Arts degree in
Communications from Central Missouri State University in 1988.
He was Communications Director for the Senate Democratic
Caucus. Active in Missouri Democratic politics, he was a former aid
to retired Missouri Senator Harold L. Caskey.
He was a former employee of the Cuba Free Press as staff
writer.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, he was a member
of the Missouri Alumni Association, Lions International, and the
Jaycees.
He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Dennis
and Vivian Green, St. Louis, Missouri; two nieces, Shelley Blecha
and her husband, Steve, Imperial, Missouri; and Terri Green, St.
Louis County, Missouri; and one grand nephew, Clayton Blecha.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother,
Kevin Mark Green.
Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2006
at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, Missouri. Funeral
services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2006, at
Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Burial followed in Riverview Cemetery.
Charles Freeman Lint
Charles “Charlie” F. Lint passed away Friday, November
24, 2006 at the Gibbs Care Center in Steelville, Missouri at the age
of 85.
He was born Monday, February 7, 1921 in Englewood,
Colorado, the son of Charles Martin and Marguerite (Ladadge) Lint.
Charles was united in marriage to Mildred Fern Bays on
July 6, 1947 at Shoal Creek Baptist Church and to this union three
sons were born. Fern preceded him in death on November 26, 1986
after 39 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by one
son, John Lint.
He worked with the CCC’s until the breakout of World War
II when he joined the U.S. Navy and served from September 17, 1940
until June 8, 1945. After marriage Charles and Fern made their home
in St. Louis, Missouri where he worked for the U.S. government at
the Records Center until retirement when they moved to Florida for
six years then back to Steelville, Missouri.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in
Steelville, Missouri and had served faithfully as a deacon both
here, in Florida and St. Louis.
Those left to mourn his passing are his two sons,
Charles M. Lint and wife Bonnie of Perkinson, Mississippi and Paul
Lint and companion Kathy of Overland, Missouri; one sister, Dorothy
“Dottye” Steinbach and husband Ivan of Lakeland, Florida; four
grandchildren, Charles James Lint, Christopher Lint, Jill Lint and
Terri Ann Lint; four great grandchildren, Dannielle Lint,
Christopher Lint, Alexis Lint and Quintin King; other family
relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Charles Lint were held Wednesday,
November 29, 2006 in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev.
Kevin Farr officiating. Special music of “Amazing Grace” was played.
Serving as casket bearers were Charles Mike Lint, Paul
Lint, Clay King, Aaron Haines, Wayne Leaders and Ivan Steinbach with
burial and committal prayers in the Skaggs Cemetery.
The family was served the by the Britton-Bennett Funeral
Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Herman Sidney McMillian, Sr.
Herman Sidney McMillian, Sr. of Cuba, Missouri was born
August 7, 1921 at Ironton, Missouri to the union of Joseph and Rosa
(nee Smith) McMillian and passed away Saturday, December 2, 2006 at
Cuba, Missouri at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 25 days.
He was united in marriage to Irma Jean George on
February 1, 1941 at Steelville, Missouri and to this union nine
children were born: Clifford Leroy, Larry, Mack, Joel, Joann, Karen,
Kathy, Carol and Pam.
Herman was the owner/operator of a sawmill for over 30
years and a farmer since 1942. He enjoyed coon hunting, running
dogs, his cattle and blue grass music.
He was a loving son, husband, father, father-in-law,
grandfather, great grandfather, brother, half brother and friend to
many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son,
Clifford Leroy McMillian; one brother, Howard; and two half
brothers, Jack and Leonard McMillian.
Those who are left to mourn his passing is his loving
wife, Irma McMillian of Cuba, Missouri; three sons, Larry, Mack and
wife Nancy and Joel McMillian, all of Cuba, Missouri; five
daughters, Joann and husband Dick Busse of St. Clair, Missouri,
Karen Childress of St. James, Missouri, Kathy and husband Winferd
Hays of St. James, Missouri, Carol and husband Bruce Crutchfield of
Cuba, Missouri and Pam Richardson of Cuba, Missouri; two half
sisters, Laura and Viola; special friend “like a son” Larry
Pilkenton; 23 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and a host of
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Monday, December 4, 2006 from 6-9
p.m. at Britton Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service was
at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba
with Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Burial at the McMillian family
farm in rural Cuba, Missouri.
The family was served by the Britton Funeral Home of
Cuba, Missouri.
Maniece Huitt Wilinson
Maniece Huitt Wilkinson, 92, passed away December 1,
2006 at Carmel Hills Living Center in Independence, Missouri. She
was born to Joseph D. Huitt and Minta Martin Huitt in Brazil,
Missouri on September 8, 1914.
She was raised in the Shoal Creek area of Crawford
County, Missouri in Steelville, Missouri where she graduated from
high school and later met and married Leonard H. Wilkinson. They
raised two children in Kansas City, Missouri.
Maniece was a full-time homemaker until 1951 when she
west to work for City National Bank, from which she retired in 1976.
They were charter members of Beth Haven Church. She was an avid
reader and particularly loved British and American History and
historical novels.
She was a gifted needlewoman who enjoyed quilting,
embroidery and counted cross-stitch as well as making clothes for
her daughter. In later years, she learned to paint and continued to
do so until a stroke weakened her right hand. She was a devoted and
beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in
1996; sister, Plura Chandler, Dalna Farrar, Mary Reed, Anita Light
and brother, Durward Huitt.
She is survived by her son, Bill (Barbara) Wilkinson;
daughter, Darlene (Gary) Brown; grandchildren, Jeff Wilkinson,
Kristen (Ron) Schmidt, Debbie (John) Sylvester, Rick (Diane) Brown,
David Brown and Dan (Jennifer) Brown.
Great grandchildren, Logan, Jacob, Madison, Mallory,
Kyle and Courtney; sister, Muriel Clonts, sister-in-law, Dorothy
Wilkinson and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was from 10-11 a.m. Monday, December at Mt.
Moriah Terrace Park, Kansas City, Missouri. Services followed at 11
a.m. with Reverend Daniel J. Brown officiating.
