MO Local Obituaries for the Week of December 7, 2016 Loren Ray Housworth Loren Ray Housworth of Warrensburg, Missouri formerly of Versailles, Missouri and St. James, Missouri was born September 9, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri to Earnest E. and Lorena M. (Smiley) Housworth and passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the age of 76 years. He attended a country school at one time. He graduated from Versailles High School. Loren married Betty J. Apsher on June 9, 1963 in Ionia, Missouri. He attended Central Missouri State University. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge from active duty the couple resided in Warrensburg, Missouri. Loren was employed with United Telephone, later known as Sprint. In 1978 he was transferred to Rolla, Missouri. During this time, the couple raised their family in St James, Missouri. They met many great friends and fostered several children. Loren was an active member of First Church of God, Anderson, Indiana Branch, where he served as a youth leaders and was chairman of the board for six years. In 1991, the couple returned to Warrensburg. He retired from Sprint in 2005 after 33 years of service. Shortly after Loren and Betty purchased a farm south of Warrensburg where they raised numerous animals. They hosted plant and flower tours, hybridized Day Lilies, raised Hostas and shipped them to several states. Loren was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Warrensburg. When he was in school, Loren played baseball and basketball. Later, he played softball for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Lorena Housworth. He is survived by his wife, Betty; three children, Kamala Stevens of Warrensburg, Missouri, Byron Housworth and wife Monica Leary of Overland Park, Kansas and Stacey Phelps and husband Brent of Warrensburg, Missouri; sister, Carolyn Silvey of Jefferson City, Missouri; six grandchildren, Lauren Stevens and fiancˇ Blake Wolfe, Delani Leary, Jaxson Leary, Noah Phelps, Rebecca Phelps and Kindall Phelps; other relatives and friends. Cynthia Phenix Cynthia Phenix of St. James was born in Belleville, Illinois on May 28, 1970 to Raymond George and Marilyn Devall Houser and passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the age of 46 years. She married Scott Phenix on April 6, 1996 in Cuba, Missouri and to this union two children were born. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She always came through with the perfect line that would leave everybody laughing. She loved spending time with her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed her craft projects. She was a registered nurse at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center for three years. Her determination was admirable; she held off one of her important medical procedures to ensure that she would finish her nursing classes for the semester. She was determined to achieve her goal to become a nurse; she did not let sickness and the many medical procedures stop her dreams. She received the National Daisy Award for her excellent service in the nursing field. She loved nursing, and her colleagues and patients loved her. Before receiving her Register Nursing Degree from East Central College, she worked as a licensed professional nurse for three years. She was a member at the Trinity Pentecostal Bibleway Fellowship. She enjoyed singing songs with her mother during church services. She taught herself how to play the drums so that she could accompany songs during the church service. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond George Houser; and father-in-law, Robert Phenix. Clark Ray Clark Ray of Leasburg, Missouri was born on Friday, August 8, 1930 in Butts, Missouri to Floyd K. and Edith Alma (Gormley) Ray and passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 19 days. Clark accepted the Lord early in life and was a member of Berryman Assembly of God Church, Berryman, Missouri. He married Barbara Lee Clonts on May 21, 1950 in Berryman, Missouri and to this union five sons were born. He lived in Berryman for 12 years and later resided in Leasburg, Missouri for over 40 years. He was a hard worker. While he farmed his entire life, he also worked as a logger, later as a tree trimmer for Crawford Electric Company, as a factory worker at Paramount Cap Factory for 13 years, as a miner at Pea Ridge Mines in Sullivan, Missouri for 15 years and as an installer for Steelweld working with utility truck beds for 18 years until retirement in 1992. His hobby was horses, both working with them and riding them. Bonnie worked for General American Insurance Company and retired as a Claim Specialist after 21 years. Sometime after retirement, Bonnie and Bill moved to Cuba, Missouri where they enjoyed riding on their pontoon boat and fishing. Bonnie especially liked feeding the fish. She married William "Bill" James Schroeder on April 15, 1957 and to this union four children were born. She worked in the telecommunications industry as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone and later for General Telephone in Everett, Washington. She enjoyed reading, needlepoint, crocheting, traveling the United States and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Pearl Gormley; sister, Ruth Zander; brothers, Arthur Gormley Sr., Chester Gormley, Lester Gormley, Warren Gormley, Noel Gormley and Donald Gormley.
