Tess Byron Booker
Tess Byron Booker son of Willet Booker and Cora Bell
Miller Booker was born May 8, 1911 in Waynesville, Missouri and
passed away November 22, 2004 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 93
years, 6 months and 14 days.
Tess is survived by his wife, Bernice Booker of Salem,
Missouri; one daughter, June Polk and husband Robert of Salem,
Missouri; two sons, Dale Booker and Lyndell Booker both of Salem,
Missouri.
Three grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; two
sisters, Bressie Clark of Crocker, Missouri and Goldie Miller of
Clearwater, Florida. One brother, Fred Booker of Steelville,
Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers,
Jack and Frank Booker; two sisters, Elsie Martin and Edna Duncan.
Funeral services for Tess Byron Booker was held November
23, 2004 in the Spencer Chapel in Salem with Brother Wayne Martin
officiating. Ann Emory provided piano music.
Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Wayne Booker, Terry
Heinzler, Brian Henry, Scott Seilberg, Dusty Buckner, Frank Lanford.
Interment was in the Carty Cemetery with all arrangements under the
direction of Spencer Funeral Home.
Jerome "Jerry" "JJ" Jennings Cunningham, Sr.
Jerome "Jerry" "JJ" Jennings Cunningham, Sr. of Cuba,
Missouri was born on June 19, 1910 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to the union
of Lee Cunningham and Mabel Harwell Cunningham and passed away on
November 30, 2004 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in
Rolla, Missouri at the age of 94 years, 5 months and 11 days.
Jerry was united in marriage to Lorraine Drozda. One
son, Jerome, Jr. and one daughter, Arleen, were born to this union.
Lorraine preceded Jerry in death.
On May 1, 1954 Jerry was united in marriage to Virginia
Woehler at Marble Hill, Missouri. Three sons, Wayne, Robert and
Darrell, and two daughters, Linda and Mary, were born to this union.
They have been happily married for 50 years.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and one son,
Jerome "Jerry" J. Cunningham, Jr.
On October 2, 1943 Jerry was inducted into the Navy of
the United States of America and was a World War II Veteran. He was
honorably discharged on December 10, 1945.
Jerry was responsible for bringing the Convey Shoe
Company to Cuba, Missouri in 1954. He retired in 1974 as the
Superintendent of Convey.
He was baptized into the Lutheran Church and has been a
long time resident of Crawford County.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life
are his loving wife Virginia Cunningham; three sons, Wayne
Cunningham and wife Deanna, Darrell Cunningham and wife Janice and
Robert Cunningham and wife Jane; three daughters, Arleen Luedde,
Linda Woessner and husband Michael and Mary Black and husband Steve;
daughter-in-law Patricia Cunningham; one sister Virginia Aldridge;
18 grandchildren; one great grandchild; nieces; nephews; other
relatives and friends.
Jerry was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather,
brother, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
Jerome "Jerry" "JJ" Jennings Cunningham, Sr. was in
state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri where funeral
services were held on Thursday, December 2, 2004 at 1 p.m. with Gary
Mace officiating. Interment was in the Meramec Hills Cemetery of
Cuba, Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Corey Robert Green
Corey Robert Green was born on Wednesday, June 2, 2004
in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life on Thursday, November
11, 2004, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of five months
and nine days.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his parents,
Corey Dale Green and Twila (T.J.) Ferguson Green of Colorado
Springs, Colorado.
His paternal grandmother Robin Green, aunt Tonya Mason
and great grandmother Betty Green all of Cherryville. Maternal
grandparents Paul and Twila Ferguson, three aunts and one uncle of
Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday,
November 19, 2004 at the Dove-Witt Fountain Valley Chapel, in
Fountain, Colorado, with Rev. Ray Lane officiating. Interment was in
the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
All services were under the direction of the Dove-Witt
Family Mortuary.
Donald Clark O'Conner Sr.
Donald Clark O'Conner was born Friday, June 9, 1916, at
Earl Park, Indiana, a son of the late Edward Young and Cora Biggs
O'Conner.
He died on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25,
2004, in Logansport, Indiana, at the age of 88 years, 5 months and
16 days.
On July 11, 1942, at St. Louis, Missouri, Don was united
in marriage to Glenna Mae Sellers. Two sons and one daughter were
born to this union. She preceded him in death, December 2, 1999.
Mr. O'Conner served in the U. S. Army from 1937 to 1940
and the U.S. Air Corps from 1942 to 1945. While serving with the
448th Bomber Squadron, he flew 35 missions over Germany as a tail
gunner and radio operator in a B-24 Liberator. He was awarded
European Theater Ribbon with Two Bronze Stan, Air Medal with Four
Oak Clusters and Good Conduct Ribbon.
A 1948 graduate of Purdue University, he taught various
schools in Indiana from 1949 to 1979. He taught social studies,
geography, physical education and driver's education with Logansport
Community School Corporation from 1955 until his retirement in 1979.
He also coached basketball and played various other
roles in the sports program. Mr. O'Conner, a real estate agent and
auctioneer, ran for the Indiana State Representative twice after his
retirement from teaching.
Mr. O'Conner held lifetime membership in Masons, Elks,
Eagles, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wan.
His hobbies included golf, bowling, euchre and sports in
general.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald C.
O'Conner Jr. and Anne, Greensville, Ontario, Canada, Michael D.
O'Conner and Pat, Logansport, Indiana; one daughter, Barbara
O'Conner, Nashville, Tennessee.
One grandson, Rigel Humphrey, Beltbuckle, Tennessee; one
brother-in-law, Gilbert Sellers and wife Gerry, Davisville,
Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Sellers, Arnold, Missouri and
Carmen Nicholson, Lafayette, Indiana; four nieces, two nephews, and
his very good friend and companion, Hazel Cree, Galveston, Indiana;
other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and
John O'Conner and two sisters, Florence Walkup and husband Ward and
Edith O'Conner.
Donald Clark O'Conner Sr. lay in state 2-6 p.m. with
services 6 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2004 at the Kroeher Funeral
Home, Logansport, Indiana, Rev. Lisa Mays officiating. Graveside
services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2004, at the Sellers
Cemetery, Dillard, Missouri.
Full military honors were conducted by the Missouri
Military Funeral Honors, Eastern Division, with Firing Party, Taps,
Flag Folding and Presentation. Local arrangements were entrusted to
the care of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Alanzo Berton "Bert' Ousley
Alanzo Berton "Bert" Ousley, formerly of St. James,
Missouri, was born on July 5, 1937 at Cuba, Missouri to the union of
Frank Ousley and Edna Helms Ousley and passed away on November 27,
2004 at Casa Grande, Arizona at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 22
days.
On September 2, 1958 Bert was united in marriage to
Charlena McPherson. Two daughters, Kim and Kathy, and two sons, Kris
and Kevin, were born to this union.
Bert was preceded in death by his parents, one son,
Kevin Ousley, one sister Wanda June Wallace and two brothers, James
and Frank Ousley.
Bert enjoyed fishing and actually had a pond built in
back of his house in St. James for his children and grandchildren to
enjoy. He loved children and devoted his time to working with the
youth of St. James, the Boy Scouts of America and A Place in the Son
Teen Center.
Those who survive to mourn is passing from this life are
his wife, Charlena Ousley; one son, Kris Ousley and wife Trica; two
daughters, Kim Dixon and Kathy Raymond and husband Scott; one
sister, Mary Durbin; one brother, Gene Ousley; seven grandchildren;
one great grandchild; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Bert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother,
good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
Alanzo Berton "Bert" Ousley was in state at the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Funeral services were held on
Thursday, December 2, 2004 at the New Hope Church of St. James,
Missouri at 2 p.m. with Rev. Denis Gray officiating. Interment was
in the Hughes Cemetery, St. James, Missouri. All arrangements were
under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Eugene C. Redington
Eugene C. Redington, fortified with the Sacraments of
Holy Mother Church, on Monday, November 29, 2004; beloved husband of
the late Barbara Redington; dear father of Joe and Dan (Tamara)
Redington; grandfather of Justin, Connor, Kyle, Cole and Marissa;
brother of Jerome (Tori), Denny (Judy), David (Jan), Tom (Yolanda),
Michael (Barbara) Redington, Agnes Murphy (Bob), Rosalie Duvall
(Michael), Mary Ellen Deimeke (James) and the late Jack and Jim
Redington; our dear uncle, great-uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
Funeral from Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road, on
Thursday, December 2, 2004, 9:30 a.m. to St. Peters Catholic Church
(Kirkwood), at 10 a.m. Mass. Interment St. Peters Cemetery.
Mr. Redington was a long time resident of Cuba,
Missouri.
Roy Joseph Turnbough
Roy Joseph Turnbough was born Saturday, March 26, 1921,
at Davisville, Missouri, a son of the late Emery Turnbough and Litha
(Martin) Turnbough.
He departed this life Saturday, November 27, 2004, at
the Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri, at the age of 83 years,
8 months and 1 day.
On December 20, 1941, Roy was united in marriage by Rev.
Sam Roper, to Helen Harris, daughter of the late William J. Harris
and Edna R. (Pyatt) Harris. Three sons and one daughter were born to
this union. They would have celebrated their 63rd anniversary
December 20, 2004.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by
two brothers, Richard Turnbough and Troy Turnbough; one sister,
Geraldine Turnbough; brothers-in-law, Jake Turnbough, Leahman
Pierce, Hershell Harris and Gene Carey; and one great great
grandson, Brandon Wilson.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his
devoted wife, Helen Turnbough, Steelville, Missouri; three sons, Joe
Turnbough and wife Betty, Cherryville, Missouri, Jerry Turnbough and
wife Teal, Cuba, Missouri and Ronnie Turnbough, Steelville,
Missouri.
One daughter, Vickey Gilliam and husband Bill,
Steelville, Missouri; two brothers, Lawrence Turnbough and wife
Bonnie, Ellis Turnbough and wife Dawn all of Davisville, Missouri;
three sisters, Bonnie Welker and husband Dale, Potosi, Missouri,
Dorothy Pierce, St. Louis, Missouri and Rosalene Turnbough,
Davisville, Missouri.
Fourteen grandchildren, Tammie Nix, Keith Turnbough,
Shannon Bass, Doug Nix, Josh Nix, Travis Nix, Sherry Wilson, Jerry
Turnbough, Terry Turnbough, Mike Turnbough, Tyler Turnbough, Allyson
Turnbough, Lisa Weber and Tina Turnbough; 12 great grandchildren and
one great great grandson.
Roy is also survived by sisters-in-law and
brothers-in-law, Mary Turnbough, Virgie and Robert Santambrogio all
of Steelville, Missouri, Isolene and Frank Kuenz, Channelview, Texas
and Mae Farrar, Bourbon, Missouri; nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives and friends.
One of Roy's greatest joys was riding on his Indian
Motorcycle. He loved to talk about all the good times he and Helen
had riding together, he just enjoyed life and being with his family
and many friends. One of his hobbies was deer hunting and when he
was younger he liked to coon hunt and squirrel hunt.
Roy Joseph Turnbough lay in state 4-8 p.m. Monday,
November 29, 2004, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 30,
2004, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Gene Thrasher officiating.
Musical selections were provided by vocalist Carol Coleman and
pianist Shirley Brown.
Committal prayers and interment were in Davisville
Cemetery, Davisville, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Jerry
Turnbough, Joe Turnbough, Jerry Turnbough Jr., Terry Turnbough, Doug
Nix and Josh Nix.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
