MO Local Obituaries for the Week of December 10, 2008 Wanda Loleta Fonville Wanda Loleta Fonville, nee Miller, of Cuba, Missouri was born on Wednesday, April 14, 1920 in Carterville, Illinois to Alvin Miller and Bertie Nelson Ledford Miller. She passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 16 days. Wanda was a certified nursing assistant at several hospitals most of her adult life and then served as a volunteer after retirement. She attended Cuba Covenant Praise Church of God and was active in their senior adult group. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Sallie Thomas and Imogene Horner; brothers, Connie, Alvin, William, and Robert Miller, and half brother, Oren Bud Miller. She is survived by her children, Lazina Jean (Nicholas) Verlinick of St. Louis, Missouri, Lona Marie Schatz of Cuba, Missouri, Robert Noah (Reggie) Burress of Collinsville, Illinois, and Carl Douglas (Kathleen) Fonville of Orlando, Florida; sister-in-law, Joyce Miller of Peoria, Illinois; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; special friends, Charles and Wanda Kolb of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Visitation was Wednesday, December 3, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. and funeral service Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, DeSoto, Missouri. All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. George J. Green, Jr. George J. Green, Jr. of Cuba, Missouri was born Saturday, August 29, 1925 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of George J. Green, Sr. and Helen (nee Haustein) Green and passed away Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 8 days. George proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was united in marriage on September 12, 1952 to Bernice “Bernie” C. Sypeniewski at Tunica, Mississippi and to this union three children were born. George retired November of 1986 after 38 years of dedicated service from the Local 268 Union Hall in St. Louis as a sprinkler fitter. He was a member of the Cuba VFW and the Cuba American Legion Post. After retirement George truly enjoyed his farm, taking care of his “girls” the cows and all of his dogs. He always enjoyed good food and in his later years anything sweet. He was preceded in death by wife; his parents; one sister, Lou; two brothers, Tom and Kenny Green; other relatives and friends. He is survived by two sons, Jerry and wife Carole Green of St. Louis, Missouri and Tom and wife Lori Green of Villa Ridge, Missouri; one daughter, Chris Green of Cuba, Missouri; seven grandchildren, John (Maggie Brewer), Mark, Joey, Cassie, Katie, Emma and Will; one great grandson, George J. Green, IV; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held Tuesday, December 9, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with full military honors. Arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Mildred Laverne Moutray Mildred Laverne Moutray, nee James, of Steelville, Missouri was born on Thursday, October 8, 1931 in Steelville, Missouri to Charles Everett James and Bertha Mae Dierking James. She passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the age of 77 years, 1 month, and 25 days. Mildred married Paul O’dell and to this union one son was born. Mildred later married Adrian Moutray on December 28, 1963 in Florissant, Missouri. Mildred made a profession of faith several years ago. She retired from White Rodgers Electrical Industry as an assembly worker. After retiring and moving to the country she enjoyed staying home and keeping house, and visiting with family and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary O’dell; husband, Adrian F. Moutray; brothers, George, Richard and Everett James; one sister, Julia McKinnon; brothers-in-law, William Gilmore, Bill West, and Delmar McKinnon. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Clara Gilmore of St. Louis, Missouri, Madeline West of Leasburg, Missouri, Mabel Moutray, Aileen Moutray, Edna Moutray, Margaret James and Emma James, all of Steelville, Missouri and Peggy Moutray of St. James, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held Friday, December 5, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral was held Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating. Burial at Liberty Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
