Geraldine Marie Brandenburger
Geraldine Marie Brandenburger nee Summers of Cuba, Missouri was born in
Nebraska to the union of William Jess Summers and Bethell (Delancey)
Summers on July 11, 1930 and passed away on December 4, 2001 at Cuba,
Missouri at the age of 71 years 4 months and 23 days.
Jerri, as she was known by, was preceded in death by her parents and two
brothers Todd and Bill Summers.
On November 18, 1960 she was united in marriage to John Brandenburger at
Mexico, Missouri. They have been happily married for 41 years.
Jerri and her husband, John, spent their working years as wholesale
distributors. In Hannibal, Missouri they owned and operated Mark Twain
Beverage Co., Inc., a large wholesale beer distributorship.
She and John spend several years traveling in their RV, making hundreds of
friends across the country. She loved spending time with her family and
friends, cooking and entertaining at every opportunity.
Those who surive to mourn her passing from this life are her loving husband
John Brandenburger; two sons James R. Hammett and John R. Brandenburger and
wife Evelyn; four daughters Karen Gay Brandenburger, Rhonda Sampson and
husband Terry, Mary Miller and husband Joe, and Jerri Sites and husband
Wes; one sister Ruby Hamlett; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild;
nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Jerri was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend
to many. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Geraldine Marie (Summers) Brandenburger was in state at the Britton Funeral
Home, Cuba, Missouri on Thursday, December 6, 2001 after 5 p.m. Funeral
services were held on Friday, December 7, 2001 at 11 a.m. at the Britton
Chapel, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Gary Mace officiating. Pallbearers were
Kevin Hamlett, Jeff Cunningham, Steve Conrad, Al Callahan, Ted Sampson and
Jason Brandenburger. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba,
Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral
Home of Cuba, Missouri. Memorials to Crawford County Care Co-ordinator,
Cuba, Missouri.
Ida Christine Harnetz
Ida Christine Harnetz of Cuba, Missouri passed away on Monday, December 3,
2001 at the age of 68 years.
Mrs. Harnetz was born on October 19, 1933 in Davenport, Florida to the late
Harvey Lee and Christine (Scarborough) Littles. In 1955 she moved to St.
Louis, and then to Cuba in 1997. On May 14, 1983 she was united in marriage
to Clarence Daniel Harnetz at the Moline Baptist Church in St. Louis.
Christine worked as a quality control coordinator for White Rogers in St.
Louis for over twenty years. She found pleasure in working with crafts,
decorating, and gardening. Her life, however, revolved around her extreme
devotion to her husband and her family. Christine also enjoyed attending
the Salem Avenue Baptist Church. She will be remembered and cherished as a
very beautiful, loving and dedicated person.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence Daniel Harnetz of Cuba; two
children, Frank Paul Baker, Jr. of St. Louis and Dawn Michelle Baker of
Maryland Heights, Missouri; three stepchildren, William Daniel Harnetz of
Ballwin, Missouri, Karen Louis Gibson and husband Eric, and Cherie Eva
Harnetz, all of St. Louis; two brothers Wilber Littles and wife Sandra, of
Polk City, Florida and Gerald Littles of Haines City, Florida; an aunt
Lydell Thelma Braddy and an uncle Elmond Scarborough, both of Lakeland,
Florida; two grandchildren Austin A. Davis and Hannah Nicole Lewis; other
relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2001 from
the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Kevin Payne
officiating. Interment was in the Vienna Public Cemetery, Vienna, Missouri.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2001 at the
Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. If desired, contributions may be made to
the Alzheimer's Assocation in memory of Ida Christine Harnetz.
Lancer Glenn Hodges
Lancer Glenn Hodges was born on December 21, 1969 at Washington, Missouri
to the union of Leonard and Wanda Hodges and passed away on December 1,
2001 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center of Rolla at the age of 31
years.
On October 6, 1992, he was united in marriage to Sharee Fodge. Three boys
were born to this union, Lancer Jr., Aaron and Kohl.
Lancer loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing along with other
sports.
He also loved watching the boys grow up and active in sports.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his loving wife
Sharee Hodges and three sons, Lancer, Aaron and Kohl; his mother Wanda
Hodges of Leasburg; two brothers, Steve and Randy Hodges, of Cuba,
Missouri; three sisters, Linda McKinney of Arkansas, Kathy Coleman of Cuba,
Missouri and Tina Hopkins of St. Clair, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other
relatives and many friends.
Lancer was a loving husband, father, son and good friend to all who knew
him. He will be sadly missed.
Lancer was in state at Bell Funeral Home in Pacific, Missouri. Funeral
services were held on December 6, 2001 at the Bell Funeral Home with Father
Richard Stevens officiating. Interment was in the Anaconda Cemetery in
Anaconda, Missouri.
Delma Ruth Martin
Delma Ruth Martin nee Alexander was born Tuesday, January 17, 1911, a
daughter of the late Ferd Alexander and Orpha (Cummins) Alexander. She
entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 1, 2001 at the Gibbs Care
Center, Steelville, Missouri, at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 14
days.
On November 24, 1937 Delma was united in marriage to Kenneth William
Martin. Three sons and two daughters were born to this union. Her husband
preceded her in death, as did two sons, Kenneth William Martin, Jr. and
Robert Terry Martin. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Ray
Alexander and Noel Alexander and wife Dollie.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her two daughters, Twyla
Martin of Decatur, Georgia and Wanda Ransom; one son Jerry Martin and wife
Luci; one brother Joseph Alexander and wife Geraldine all of Steelville,
Missouri; sister-in-law, Koradine Alexander of Cuba, Missouri.
Grandchildren, Jeryl Sue Martin, Tracy Garrison and husband Mark, Chris
Ransom and wife Alisha, Mike Ransom and wife Mary, Randy Lewis and wife
Cindy, Spencer Jones and wife Linda, Terri Guese and husband Jerry, all of
Steelville, Missouri, Lisa Hughes of Cuba, Missouri, Sonny Turnbough and
wife Sharon of Cherryville, Missouri, and Gina Tetley and husband Scott of
Jefferson City, Missouri; a number of great and great great grandchildren;
nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Delma was saved and baptized while in high school. She was a very active
member of the First Baptist Church, Steelville for almost fifty years. She
taught Sunday school, served as church treasurer, WMU director, church
hostess and many other capacities.
After her retirement as a bookkeeper at First Community Bank, Steelville,
she worked for Dr. George Vineyard and Gladden Greenhouse. Prior to her
marriage she taught school at Earls, Daniels, Cherryville, Scotia,
Slowensky and Davisville.
Delma Ruth Martin lay in state 4-8 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2001 at the
Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were
held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2001 in the Britton Chapel with Dr.
Cardis Bryan officiating. Musical selections were provided by pianist
Carolyn Hawkins and vocalist Edward Jones, Joyce Vaughn, Robert and Kay
Housewright.
Committal prayers and interment were in Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville,
Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Randy and Thomas Lewis, Chris and
Mike Ransom, Josh and Jered Garrison. Arrangements were under the direction
of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Emily Jean Richardson
Emily Jean Richardson (nee Ogle) was born Saturday, May 13, 1933, at
Keysville, Missouri, a daughter of the late Arthur Stafford Ogle and Naomi
Elizabeth (Coleman) Ogle. She entered eternal life Saturday, December 1,
2001, at the Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri, at the age of 68
years, six months and 18 days.
On April 22, 1950, at the home of Rev. Sam Roper in Steelville, Missouri,
Jean was united in marriage to Thomas Lester Richardson. Three daughters
were born to this union. They enjoyed 49 years together before his death,
September 11, 1999.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her three devoted
daughters, Elizabeth Jean Hinch and husband Gary, Barbara Ann Lewis and
husband Larry, all of Steelville, Missouri, Edna Marie Davidson and husband
Gary of Warrenville, Illinois; one brother, Tom Ogle and wife Billie of
West Covina, California; two sisters, Betty Swyers and Opal Edgar and
husband Rueben of Sligo, Missouri.
Six grandchildren, Ann Hinch of Knoxville, Tennessee, Christina Hinch and
Daniel Lewis of Steelville, Missouri, Joshua, Laura and Kate Davidson of
Warrenville, Illinois.
Brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Walter and Carol Richardson of O'Fallon,
Missouri, Vernice Richardson and Mildred Cowan of Steelville, Missouri;
nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to Tom and her parents, she was preceded in death by one
brother, Lewis Ogle; two sisters, Alice and husband Arthur Burke and Edna
and husband Fred Shular; one granddaughter, Liza Marie Lewis.
Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clifford Swyers, Frank Richardson, Bill
Richardson, George Richardson, Clarence Richardson, Vera McLeRoy, Edith
Coffman, Pearl Lutzenberger, Oma Hartung, Ima Lee Richardson, Evie
Richardson and Goldie Richardson.

the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services
were held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2001, in the Britton Chapel with
Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.
Committal prayers and interment were in the Keysville Cemetery, Keysville,
Missouri.
Serving as pallbearers were Gary Hinch, Larry Lewis, Gary and Joshua
Davidson, Rocky Swyers and Bill Edgar.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
Velma Blue Sanders
Velma Blue Sanders of Sullivan, Mo., passed away on Sunday, December 2,
2001 at the age of 84 years.
Velma was born on October 30, 1917 in Rolla, Mo. to Joe and Dovie Leona
(Sisco) Vitzthum. On October 4, 1935 she was joined in marriage to Gene
Blue. They were happily married for over fifty years, and had five children
together. In 1958 she and her family moved to St. Louis. Velma then moved
to Sullivan in 1978. Throughout her adult years, she primarily served her
family as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Velma
enjoyed sewing, cooking, and just being with her family. She was also a
member of the Church of God in Newburg, Mo. She will be remembered and
cherished as a very loving, caring, and generous person.
She is survived by four sons, Perry Blue and wife, Judyee, of Mary Esther,
Florida, Jimmie Blue of Victor, Montana, Ken Blue and wife, Nova, and Larry
Blue and wife, Rita, all of Bourbon, Mo.; one daughter, Joyce Bennett of
Affton, Mo.; one brother, Lee Vitzthum and wife, Dorothy, of Springfield,
Mo.; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents and
husband, Velma was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Alph
Vitzthum.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2001
from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Reverend Wilson
Davis officiating. Interment was in the Rolla City Cemetery. Visitation
hours were from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2001 at the
Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
Gladine Edith Wilkinson
Gladine Edith Wilkinson nee Allen was born on Sunday, November 26, 1911, at
Potosi, Missouri, a daughter of the late John Willie Allen and Annie
Melinda Allen (nee Bays). She entered eternal rest Monday, December 3,
2001, at the Stonecrest Healthcare, Viburnum, Missouri at the age of 90
years and 7 days.
On April 7, 1933, in Steelville, Missouri, Gladine was united in marriage
to Laben Matson Wilkinson. Three daughters were born to this union. He
preceded her in death, as did one daughter, Annetta Gillam (nee Wilkinson).
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are two devoted daughters,
Wanda Hedrick of Steelville, Missouri and Jean Beeman and husband Roger of
Viburnum, Missouri; son-in-law Charles Gillam of Viburnum; sisters-in-law
Flora Coffman and Virginia Wilkinson of Steelville, Missouri.
Six grandchildren, Mark Beeman and wife Sharon of Viburnum, Missouri, Mike
Beeman and wife Summer of Fenton, Missouri, Jim Beeman and wife Sue of High
Ridge, Missouri, Beverly and husband Dennis Callahan of Cherryville,
Missouri, Krista and husband Jeff Wigger of Farmington, Missouri, and David
Hedrick and wife Evelyn of Steelville, Missouri; ten great grandchildren;
one great great granddaughter; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives
and many friends.
In addition to her parents, her husband and one daughter, she was preceded
in death by one sister, Edna Allen; one brother George Allen; son-in-law
Charles Buford Hedrick; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Johnny and Ruth
Snow, Clem and Bessie Wilkinson, Larry Wilkinson, Evelyn and Joe Sherock
and George Coffman.
Gladine Edith Wilkinson lay in state 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2001
at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral
services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2001, in the Britton
Chapel with Rev. Michael Knight officiating. Musical selections were
provided by Evelyn Hedrick.
Committal prayers and interment were in Shoal Creek Cemetery, Steelville,
Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Mark and Mike Beeman, Bob and Ron
Leasor and David and Nick Hedrick. Arrangements were under the direction of
Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
