Barbara Sue Callahan
Barbara Sue Callahan of Steelville, Missouri was born June 10, 1952 at
St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Rev. Marvin and Ruth (nee Barton)
Callahan and passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Cherryville, Missouri
at the age of 55 years, 5 months and 22 days.
Barbara was united in marriage to Darrell Callahan on April 28, 1972 at Center
Ridge Pentecostal Church of Cherryville, Missouri and to this union two
daughters were born.
She worked in housekeeping for the past nine years at Gibbs Care Center in
Steelville, but what she enjoyed most about being there was spending time with
the residents, that she loved dearly.
Barb’s first passion in life was being a Christian and going to church. Next
came her family, spending time with them, loving them and spoiling her
grandchildren. She also enjoyed shopping, going for a ride, eating out
especially “Mexican”, the Ladies Retreat, Sister’s Outings, collecting
gingerbread men and women, bears, candles and frogs.
She was preceded in death by her father, one sister, Joyce Baker; other
relatives and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, of the home; two daughters,
Kimberly and husband Cleve Holland and Angela and husband Steve Bridgeman,
all of Cuba, Missouri; grandchildren, Samuel “Bubby” and Cheyanne “Sissy”
Holland of Cuba, Missouri; mother, Ruth F. Callahan of Cuba, Missouri; five
sisters, Deloris and husband Douglas Warren of Chesterfield, Missouri, Shirley
and husband Harrison Brown of Cherryville, Missouri, Jan Callahan and friend
David Monda, of Cuba, Missouri, Pam and husband William Huggins of Cuba,
Missouri and Cindy and husband Darrell Phipps of Union, Missouri; one brother,
Gary Callahan of Cuba, Missouri; mother and father-in-law, Willis and Geraldine
Callahan of Steelville, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Baker of Ozark,
Missouri and Junior and wife Peggy Callahan of Steelville, Missouri; sister-in-
law, Brenda and husband Keith Neff of Cuba, Missouri; nieces; nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday, December 4, 2007 from 3 till 8 p.m. at Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Harrison Brown and Dwight Barton
officiating. Special music provided by Johnny Setzer playing the piano and
singing “Eastern Gate”, Tim and Chrissie singing “More Than Anything” and Bob
and Carol Coleman singing “I’ll Thank You Jesus”.
Pallbearers were Brad Brown, Tim Baker, Jeremy Prince, Leroy Callahan, Leon
Callahan and Greg Neff. Burial at Martin Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
Dorothy V. Hutter
Dorothy V. Hutter born May 8, 1912 and passed away December 12, 2007 at the age
of 95 years, 7 months and 4 days. Visitation Friday, December 14, 2007 from
5-8 p.m. at the Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service Saturday,
December 15, 2007 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church (12345 Manchester
Road, Des Peres, Missouri.) Interment: St. Trinity Cemetery, Lemay, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Whitson W. Moss
Whitson W. Moss of Sullivan, Missouri was born on March 15, 1923 in Overland,
Missouri, son of John Whitson and Blanche (Steiner) Moss and passed away at
the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri on Sunday, December 2, 2007
at the age of 84 years.
He was a long-time resident of the Strain-Japan area, near Sullivan, Missouri.
On June 17, 1943 he was united in marriage to Fairy June Matthews at Huntsville,
Missouri and to this union three sons were born.
He honorably served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army. After his
discharge he raised his family while working as a farmer. He served on the
Strain-Japan School Board and drove the school bus for many years. He sold Cedar
Fork Insurance and he was a member of Old Argo Presbyterian Church and
Independent Order of Oddfellows Lodge 156 of Sullivan, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Will Moss; a half brother,
Ray Moss and a half sister, Bernice Jennings.
He is survived by two sons, John Moss of Farmington, Missouri and Don Moss and
wife Nancy of Sullivan, Missouri; two grandsons, Jess Moss and wife Chas and
Clint Moss and friend Katie; sister, Blanche Strauser of Sullivan, Missouri;
other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was conducted at noon Wednesday, December 5, 2007 from Old Argo
Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rob Cardwell officiating.
Interment was in the church cemetery. Oddfellows memorial service was conducted
at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, December 4, 2007 from the Eaton Funeral Home in
Sullivan, Missouri under the direction of Sullivan Lodge #156.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
Nelda Marie Pyatt
Nelda Marie Pyatt, was born October 6, 1924 in Redbud, Illinois, the daughter
of William and Mamie (Brandt) Mennerich and passed away December 5, 2007 at
Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 83.
On October 23, 1948, she was married to Leroy Pyatt who preceded her in death
on March 26, 1989.
Nelda worked many years in St. Louis at the Martiz Travel Agency. In her spare
time, she enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers and bells. Only a few
years ago did she give up her hobby. Up until her health permitted, she loved
embroidery, reading and crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Debbie
Reiger; one sister, Hilda Liefer and one son-in-law Gary Moses
She is survived by two daughters, Connie Carbaugh and husband Daniel and Kim
Moses all of Steelville, Missouri; one son-in-law, Jim Reiger; 11 grandchildren,
Danny Carbaugh, Candi Koenig, Scott Koenig, Brandi Atkins, Jesse Moritz, Brian
Moritz, Lorene Frey, Katrina Pyatt, Brittany, Brandon and Alex Moses; 10 great
grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 7, 2007 at the Britton-Bennett
Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Special music of “In The
Garden”, “One Day At A Time”, and “Go Rest High On The Mountain” were played.
Serving as casket bearers were Danny Carbaugh, Scott Koenig, Brian Moritz, Caleb
Scott, Tony Chandler and Michael Dunn. Committal prayer and burial were in the
Martin Cemetery at Cherryville, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of
Steelville, Missouri.
Kenneth W. Wilson
Kenneth W. Wilson of Sullivan, Missouri was born February 9. 1922 to Raymond
and Lillie (Koelling) Wilson. He passed away Friday, December 7, 2007 at the
Missouri Veterans Home, St. James, Missouri at the age of 85 years, 9 months
and 28 days.
He honorably served his country during World War II with the US Navy attaining
the rank of Machinist’s Mate Second Class.
On December 21, 1946 he was married to Norma Carey at St. Louis, Missouri and
to this union five children were born.
He was employed by different contractors throughout the years as a heavy
equipment operator. Later he became self-employed and worked with his son
K.R.Wilson, in their contracting business. He was fond of hunting in his spare
time.
He is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Kenneth R. Wilson and wife
Dianna of Sullivan, Missouri; four daughters, Diane Wilson of Owensville,
Missouri, Christina Orr and husband Kevin of Kansas City, Missouri, Elizabeth
Willett and husband Matt of Sullivan, Missouri and Tina Koenig and husband
Brian of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Helen Cunieo of Sullivan,
Missouri and Jane DiNunzio of Alexandria, Virginia; 15 grandchildren; five
great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2007 from the Eaton
Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor G. Scott Perry officiating.
Interment, with full military honors, was in the Schmidt Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
Kimberly Dawn Wood
Kimberly Dawn Wood of Marthasville, Missouri was born on July 21, 1976 at
St. Louis, Missouri to Mark Kevin Williams and Lenora (nee Eddington) Wood
passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007 at the age of 31 years, 4 months and
12 days.
Kimberly enjoyed reading, camping, hunting, even tried fishing and was an
excellent writer but what she treasured most in life was being mom to her two
daughters.
She is survived by two daughters, Gretchen and Heide Reinhardt of Warren
County, Missouri; one step son, Dustin Reinhardt of St. Clair, Missouri;
life partner of 12 years, Jason Reinhardt of Marthasville, Missouri; father,
Mark Kevin Williams of DeSoto, Missouri; mother, Lenora Farrell of Steelville,
Missouri; two sisters, Nichole Farrell of Bourbon, Missouri and Carolyn
Lammert of St. Clair, Missouri; one brother, Keith D. Williams of Monroe,
Louisiana; grandparents, Obie and the late Norma Nelson of Spanish Lake,
Missouri; other relatives and friends.
In keeping with Kimberly’s wishes all services were private.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
