MO Local Obituaries for the Week of December 14, 2016 Robert Glenn Armistead Sr. Robert Glenn Armistead Sr. of Sullivan, Missouri was born on March 17, 1935 to Thomas W. and Lula (Cox) Armistead in Stanton, Missouri and passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at the age of 81 years. Robert honorably served his country in the United States Navy from June 18, 1954 to December 12, 1957 attaining the rank of Seaman First Class. On October 23, 1965 he married Lee Sprague in Bourbon, Missouri and five children were born to their union. Robert was employed by the former Meramec Mining Company until it's closing and then at Meramec Industries for 18 years, retiring in 1997. Robert was a hardworking man who appreciated everything he had. In his retirement, Robert enjoyed cutting grass, watching Cardinal Baseball, and discussing politics, but his greatest joy came from time spent with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lula Armistead; one brother, Henry Armistead; and two sisters, Hazel Brown and Helen Starks. John Lafayette DeRennaux John Lafayette DeRennaux I of Steelville, Missouri was born Monday, May 19, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri to Darrell Dyke and Mary Alice (Martin) Rennaux and passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 22 days. John married Darlene Elenora Morehouse on June 6, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri and to this union seven children were born. He served our country honorably in the United States Marine Corps and in the United States Air Force for over 23 years until retirement. He was a very patriotic citizen who was extremely proud of his military service. He had an open invitation to visit and speak to Ms. Whitson's middle school class, and he was proud to do so, regarding his military service. After retiring from the military in May, 1970 he worked for the state of Missouri until retiring again. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Steelville Country Club. He was a big St. Louis Cardinal and Blues fan. He loved bowling, shuffleboard, going for long walks and just being outdoors. He also enjoyed fishing and watching his grandkids play sports. Many hours were spent playing games around the family table and he enjoyed gambling on occasion. He liked working with his hands and family reunions at the old farm house were always special. She was united in marriage to Thomas Gibson on April 12, 1990 at the Flags Springs Church in St. James, Missouri. Lisa valued her independent thinking; one always knew where she stood. She always tried to help others, especially when others came to her home. One didn't leave her home without being offered something to eat. She loved reading. J. D. She was united in marriage to William Alfred, "Billy Al," Hicks on July 21, 1943 in Belle, Missouri and to this union, two children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; two brothers, Clarence and Charles Baxter; and two sisters, Opal Smith and Ora Keeney. Olive was a very active person. She worked at Fosters Bakery for many years and for several years she work at the St. James Leader-Journal. She was united in marriage to Charley Dee James on March 18, 1955 in Rolla, Missouri and to this union, three children were born. She enjoyed the special gatherings at holidays, weddings and reunions. So much fun was added to family times with her great sense of humor, laughter and wit. Being a huge fan of Nintendo, she spent many hours playing, and she was a fierce competitor. Her independent and loving spirit will inspire her children and grandchildren for many years to come. Wanda worked many years as a certified nurse's assistant at the Missouri Veteran's Home and Shriner's Nursing Home. She loved being outside tending to the farm chores and feeding bucket calves. She was an avid reader. She read many authors over the years, and she enjoyed trading books at the local bookstores. Linda was a doll collector, not only did she enjoy receiving them she also enjoyed looking for different ones as she traveled the country driving an 18 wheeler, a job she loved. Her "job" also allowed her the privilege to meet a lot of people in many areas of the country. She really enjoyed meeting new people and helping anyone in need of, whether it was a trip to the doctor or someone in need of food for their family, she was always one to reach out and help someone in need. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Johnson in 1997; and her brother, Robert Johnson in 1991. Joyce Elaine Tipton Joyce Elaine Tipton of Vichy, Missouri was born July 5, 1953 to Clyde and Neva (Robertson) Hohl and passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the age of 63 years. She married Dennis Tipton on February 14, 1970. Joyce attended Belle High School. Joyce and Dennis moved away from the familiarity of small town Missouri to Wichita, Kansas where Dennis went to Kansas Automotive School. Joyce worked at Long Manufacturing until the young couple returned to Jefferson City, Missouri. At that time Joyce worked for the State of Missouri. Dennis was promoted to manage a company store in Fulton, Missouri and the family moved to Fulton. Joyce worked for Callaway Electric Company until her and Dennis decided to return to their hometown roots and settled back in Vichy, Missouri where she started her employment with Belle State Bank and Bank of Vichy, Missouri. Joyce worked at the Belle State Bank and now The Maries County Bank where she has been employed for 39 years and advanced to her current position of President of the Belle Branch. Joyce is a member of the First Baptist Church in Belle, Missouri. Joyce enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, reading, helping her husband with their cattle business, her organizational skills and always having a clean organized home. Joyce was active in her children's lives and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and put in many miles driving to ballgames and practices. Dennis and Joyce were very active in the establishment of the Vichy Volunteer Fire Department. There were many occasions where Joyce could be seen leaving the Bank of Vichy in her dress clothes to go open the fire department for the fire fighters and then continue on to the fire and help fight it. Joyce loved to fish in their family lake and sit outside and enjoy the sunset on the back patio of their home and watch the hummingbirds during the summer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Neva Hohl; father-in-law, Bennie Leroy Tipton; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Daniels; and one infant sister, Lynn. Lewis "Tiny" Valley Lewis "Tiny" Valley of Bourbon, Missouri was born November 12, 1944 to Theodore and Esther (LaChance) Valley and passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the age of 72 years. After losing his mother at a young age, Tiny finished school and then began his working life. He spent time learning many crafts and doing various jobs of which included welding, mining and truck assembly to mention a few. Tiny also enjoyed working on small engines, mowing grass locally and anything that involved tinkering with equipment. He married Alice Merritt on July 31, 1965 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Bourbon, Missouri. Tiny had a love for music and could be seen playing his guitar, singing at the local nursing homes and at church. He also loved cars and was extremely proud of his '65 Mustang. Tiny and Alice were very active with their church, First Assembly of God in Bourbon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Esther Valley; and numerous brothers and sisters.
