On February 6, 1937, in Alton, Illinois, she was united in marriage to John Baker II. Vivian attended the Cherryville Baptist Church. She and her husband, John, enjoyed square dancing in earlier years. In her spare time she was a writer for a column in the Steelville newspaper. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Baker II on January 16, 1998; five brothers, Oscar McGlasson, Anson McGlasson, Bruce McGlasson and wife Norene, Dale and Jim McGlasson; and sister, Georgia Warner. She is survived by her son John Baker III and wife Mary Lou of Otterville, Illinois; two grandchildren, John Baker IV, Tammy Sue Powell and husband Rick; two great grandchildren, Nick and Josh Powell; sisters-in-law, Hazel McGlasson of Lawson, Missouri and Sally McGlasson of San Diego, California; brother-in-law, John Warner of Rolla, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Brian Graham Bitzer Brian Graham Bitzer of St. James, Missouri, was born May 25, 1944 in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania to Lloyd L. and Ruth Hilda Graham Bitzer and passed away Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Columbia Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 16 days. Brian was an Aviation Mechanic by trade, and graduated from Parks Aeronaut- ical College in Illinois. He was a person who gave of himself to many causes in our community. He was currently the Post Commander of the St. James American Legion 607, fulfilling the duties of a commander and also instrumen- tal in the restoration of the Friendship School House. He could be seen helping putting up the flags in St. James on our countries patriotic holidays, along with helping with veterans at Camp Brimshire. Brian was also the chairperson in charge of the Sports Club Toy Drive for this year and helped with many fund-raisers. He is survived by his brothers, Joseph T. Bitzer and wife Kathy of St. James, Missouri, David Bitzer and wife Diane of Brighton, Tennessee and Eugene Bitzer of Wimereoux, France; one sister, Beverly Schmit and husband Ernest of Wakefield, Rhode Island; nieces and nephews, Becky, Brian, Branson, Susan and Eve. Orel Dean Brinkley Orel Dean Brinkley of Rolla, Missouri was born on May 16, 1937 in Rolla, Missouri to William Floyd and Mary Helen (Woosley) Brinkley and passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the age of 73 years. For many years Dean was a district manager for Hocker Oil Company. He also served in the police reserves in the 1970s. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Paul George Coleman Paul George Coleman of Beaufort, Missouri was born September 19, 1922 in Davisville, Missouri to Otis Fielding and Delila Catherine Setzer Coleman and passed away Friday, December 3, 2010 at his home at the age of 88 years. On September 22, 1945 he was united in marriage to Ruby (Swyers) Coleman who preceded him in death in February of 1988. He later married Nola Jean Roberts in 1990 and she preceded him in death in 2006. Paul graduated from Cherryville High School in 1941. In 1944 he moved to St. Louis and in 1945 he and Ruby were married. They later moved to Beaufort in 1976 and in 1984, Paul retired from Froesel Oil Company in St. Louis, Missouri. Jason Lewis Henson Jason Lewis Henson was born December 28, 1975 to Loyd Jr. and Margie (Freeman) Henson and passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the age of 34 years, 11 months and 8 days. On October 6, 2001 Jason was united in marriage to Denise Stulce and to their union two children were born. Jason was employed at MAR-BAL, Incorporated in Cuba, Missouri, but he also enjoyed working at the sawmill.  He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and riding four-wheelers.  The love of his family and spending time with them was the most important time to him. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Loyd Lewis Henson; maternal grandmother, Lois Lemon; step-grandfather, George E. Lemon; father-in-law, Jeff Berry. Clifford James Kramer Clifford James Kramer was born on April 26, 1930 in Florissant, Missouri to Harry Lloyd and Laura Elisa Anna Eggert Kramer and passed away December 5, 2010 at the age of 80 years. Clifford was united in marriage to Clora Jean Miller Kramer on May 9, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri. Clifford served in the U.S. Army from 1951 through 1953, spending 18 months in Korea.  He returned home to Black Jack, Missouri to continue spending his life with his wife. He returned to work as a driver for Fix Material Co. of Jennings, Missouri where he worked for 32 years.  Clifford and Clora moved to Dellwood, Missouri where they lived until their retirement at the end of 1991 moving to St. James, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Laura Kramer; brother, Harry Lloyd Kramer; nephew, Keith Howard Kramer Jr.; step mother, Ethelene Mullins Kramer; and mother and father-in-laws, William and Mary Miller. Gayle worked as a machine operator for several years in the apparel industry. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Stumpe of Sullivan, Missouri, was born in Strain, Missouri on September 29, 1934 to Fred G. and Elda Katharine (Landwehr) Stumpe and passed away at his home on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the age of 76 years. On February 19, 1955 he was united in marriage to Ila Faye Luecke at Old Argo Presbyterian Church and to this union six children were born. Norman was a life-long resident of this area and for 15 years was a machinist for the former P.A.C.O. Corporation in Sullivan. He later worked as machinist part time over five years for Independent Machine and 10 years at Fleming Corporation in Cuba. His true vocation however, was that of farming. Norman was mechanically inclined and could fix about anything. He was a 4-H leader and was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame. Norman was involved in his children’s lives and participated in the sports programs at the Strain-Japan School by running the time clock and scoreboard at their many games. He was the Community Club President and President of the Schmidt Cemetery Association for several years and Elder of the Old Agro Presbyterian Church. First. Vera Sophia Kappelmann Vieman Vera Sophia Kappelmann Vieman of Bourbon, Missouri, was born on December 30, 1901 to Henry and Amelia (Wilmesherr) Kappelmann and passed away at her home on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the age of 108 years, 11 months and 5 days. Vera held the position of being the oldest resident of Bourbon and had lived her entire life there. She married Ralph Vieman of Bourbon and to this union four children were born. Ralph and Vera made their home on Olive Street across from the Methodist Church. Ralph became president of the bank and Vera became president of the Methodist W.S.C.S., and through the years held many other offices, taught Sunday school, and directed the choir.  Her church had always been an important factor in her life, as it was in her ancestors’ lives. Tragedy was prevalent in Vera’s teen years when her older sister Lillian was stricken and died from Spanish influenza and her father passed away after suffering a stroke. Vera had been attending Lindenwood College for some high school studies, but had to return home and later graduated from Sullivan. She later worked for a time at the Bank of Bourbon. Education called her to continue at University of Missouri and Washington University where she specialized in sports and drama. She excelled on the MU varsity baseball, basketball and hockey teams. Vera taught in Bourbon, Cuba, Steelville and St. Clair and was very active with Campfire Girls. She earned much respect from her students because of strict discipline and her active participation playing sports with them during recess. She also directed drama and talent productions. Vera had always been an advocate for exercise and proper diet. She radiated her love of life and always praised God for her many blessings; looking forward to each new day. She is survived by three daughters, Jane Siebenman of Sullivan, Missouri, Judy Sites of Sullivan, Missouri and Janet Sappington of Bourbon, Missouri; one son, John Vieman and wife Shirley of Owensville, Missouri; 11, grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Bourbon with Order of the Eastern Star Memorial services at 7 p.m. at the church. James Thomas Winslow James Thomas “Tommy” Winslow was born in Perquimans County, North Carolina on September 26, 1924 and passed away December 4, 2010 at the Missouri Veterans Home, St. James, Missouri at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 8 days. He lived in Norfolk, Virginia from 1947 until 2006, when he and his wife, Josephine, moved to Salem, Missouri to be near family. During World War II, Tommy served in the 35th Infantry Division, 137th Regiment Company L.  Among the many commendations he received as a result of his dedicated service and the wounds he received during the Normandy invasion, he was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. After retiring in 1985 from the dry cleaning business, Tommy enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife to many parts of the world. Tommy was a member of Loyal Order of Moose #39 for 44 years, during which time he earned the Fellowship Degree and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Rae and his parents, James Thomas and Penny (Gregory) Winslow. He is survived by his wife, Josephine (Ridolfi) Winslow; sister, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Harrell; daughter, Claudia Dickson and husband Jay; son, Michael Winslow; grandson, Richard Dickson and wife Alana and their children, Greg, Kimberly and Juliana; granddaughter, Deborah Dickson and her son Che’; grandson, Nicholas Winslow; grandson, Jeremy Winslow; other relatives and friends.
