MO Local Obituaries for the Week of December 15, 2011 Edward Homer Carlisle Edward Homer Carlisle of Leasburg, Missouri was born to Homer and Jenny (Fulton) Carlisle on May 24, 1930 in Leasburg, Missouri and passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 at his home at the age of 81 years. Ed was united in marriage to Cleo Rowland on February 24, 1951 in Leasburg, Missouri and to this union two children were born. Ed and Cleo celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Ed was a farmer and retired from TRW Ramsey Manufacturing Company in Sullivan after many years of dedicated service. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a longtime member and Deacon of Delhi Baptist Church. Ed enjoyed singing and playing his guitar, deer hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Jenny (Fulton) Carlisle; one sister, Wilma Carlisle. He is survived by his wife, Cleo Carlisle of the home; two children, Vicky and husband Kenneth Holt of Auburn, Indiana and Terry and wife Gretchen Carlisle of Columbia, Missouri; six grandchildren, Zebadiah and wife Zeynup Holt, Kody and wife Lauren Holt, Kaleb and Wysteria Holt, Sarah Carlisle, Lindsey and husband Bradley Herron; one brother, James and wife Barbara Carlisle of Vandalia, Ohio; other relatives and friends. Hollie Nicole Chasen Hollie Nicole Chasen of Cook Station, Missouri was born December 8, 1994 in St. Louis, Missouri to Christina Maxwell Booker and Lee Chasen and passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 16 years, 11 months and 29 days. Hollie was a junior at the Steelville High School and involved in many activities such as FFA, basketball, track and softball. Her other activities included 4-H, barrel racing, deer hunting, riding horses, photography and hanging out with friends. She also enjoyed writing and had a unique talent in that area. She loved animals of all kinds and would always welcome a stray. Her three special animals were Bo, her first horse and her other horse, Tonto along with Bella her favorite dog. Hollie was a very determined young lady with a dynamic personality, a mind of her own, and a very sweet, caring person. Special music of “I’ll Fly Away” was sung by Casey Reed. Other music of “I Can Only Imagine” and “If I Die Young” was played. Memories were shared by Hollie’s mother, Chris. Committal prayer and interment were in the Carr Cemetery at Cook Station, Missouri. Casket bearers were Benjamin Maxwell, Joseph Maxwell, David Priest, Robert Booher, James Booher, Kevin Citurs, Robert Chasen and Matthew Booker. Deadrick of Cuba, Missouri was born on Tuesday, June 12, 1928 to Edward J. and Lillian Hagermann Deadrick in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 25 days. Ed served his country honorably and retired after 20 years from the United States Air Force. He married Sally Randolph on December 13, 1968 in St. Louis, Missouri. He later worked for Glo-Lite Heating and Cooling and Cuba Schools as a custodian. His hobbies were golfing and bowling. He also, was on the Glo-Lite bowling league several years ago. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lillian Deadrick; brother, Bob Deadrick; sisters-in-law, Della Deadrick and Barb Harris. Steven Joseph “Hommie” Greenwalt, Sr. Steven Joseph “Hommie” Greenwalt, Sr. was born on Thursday, December 7, 1961 in St. Louis, Missouri to Dorothy Lee Eads Greenwalt and Calvin Greenwalt and passed away Friday, December 2, 2011 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 49 years, 11 months and 25 days. Steven accepted the Lord early in life at the Tower Grove Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri. He loved his family very much. Steven enjoyed doing crafts, and especially liked wolves, eagles and Indian artifacts. He loved animals and was a great cook. He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Greenwalt; step-father, James Land Sr. and one brother, Randy Greenwalt. Hunter of Bourbon, Missouri was born on January 20, 1964 at Paragould, Arkansas and passed away at her home on Monday, December 5, 2011 at the age of 47 years, 11 months and 16 days. As an infant the family moved to the Dexter, Missouri area where she later attended school.  She moved again to O’Fallon, Missouri attended school there and at the age of 15, moved to Bourbon, Missouri. She was married to James G. Hunter and to this marriage three children where born. Tammy was known to have strong maternal instincts and provided a good home for her husband and children.  She collected angels and was a lover of animals especially dogs.  Tammy enjoyed having a good time, especially with her family and grandchildren, of whom she was extremely proud. She was raised and baptized in the Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda and a father-in-law, William Hunter, Sr. She is survived by her husband, James G. Hunter of the family home; two sons, Dustin and Tyler Hunter, both of Stanton, Missouri; two grandsons, William (Willie) and Garrett Hunter; two step-grandsons, Charlie and Joe Scott; a brother, Earl Wegel of Kansas City, Missouri; three sisters, Tonua Graddy and husband Rick of Sullivan, Julie Mossberger and husband Clifford of St Charles, Missouri and Kimberly Jackson of Pacific, Missouri; her mother, Judy Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri; mother-in-law, Eileen Hunter of Bourbon, Missouri; other relatives and friends. William Joe Landing William Joe Landing of Cuba, Missouri, was born on April 11, 1944 at Piedmont, Missouri to Nathan and Alma (Meador) Landing and passed away at his home at Meramec Valley Camp Resort on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the age of 67 years. At the age of 18 enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Panama with Company D, 3rd Engineering Battalion during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, William became an over-the-road truck driver and for the majority of his career drove for Complete Transit hauling cars for General Motors.  He later retired from there and then worked part time with the Missouri Conservation Department. On August 17, 1977 he was united in marriage to Kathryn Higgins Schmidt.  Together, they enjoyed traveling and spending the winters in Texas.  In the spring and summer months, they would come back to Missouri and stay at the Meramec Valley RV Resort near Cuba. William enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He was fond of country music and would often organize “jam” sessions at the resort. He was also a member of Sullivan Lodge 69 AF&AM. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul and Ron Landing and a brother in infancy. He is survived by his wife Kathryn Schmidt Landing of the family home; a daughter, Joy Peltz and  husband Brian of Westland, Michigan; a step-daughter, Julie Giuliani and husband Todd of Sullivan, Missouri; three step-sons, Jeffery Todd Schmidt of Potosi, Missouri, Gregory Allen Schmidt of Stanton, Missouri, and Byron Keith Schmidt and wife Tammitha of Leasburg, Missouri; one granddaughter, Amanda Hadley of Westland, Michigan; six step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Landing of Piedmont, Missouri and David Landing of Cedar Hill, Missouri; six sisters, Catherine Gatewood of Piedmont, Missouri, Marilyn Throwbridge of Annapolis, Missouri, Carolyn Secord of Columbia, Illinois, Vicki Giavondo of Piedmont, Missouri, Linda Wilson of Granite City, Illinois and Mary Montgomery of Piedmont, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Donald Leroy Manues Donald Leroy Manues of Belle, Missouri was born on Tuesday, October 29, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri to John Golden Manues and Bertha Alma Christeson Manues. He passed away at MO Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Missouri on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the age of 67 years, 7 months, and 27 days. Donald served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War. He worked several years as a mechanic for the Beaufort Trucking Company in Gerald, Missouri. He married Catherine Judy Ray on October 11, 1986 in Leasburg, Missouri. His hobbies were fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond Manues, Richard John Manues, Jim (Geneva) Barber, Johnnie (Gail) Manues, and Eddie (Josephine) Barber; sister, Sandra Husch; brother-in-law, Larry Husch; and stepson, Danny York. J.H. “Jinx” Martin J.H. “Jinx” Martin of Sullivan, Missouri was born on November 9, 1927 in Washington, Missouri, one of 11 children, and passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the age of 84 years. He was a member of the VFW and 60 year member of the Washington Elks. He honorably served his country in the US Army as an M.P after high school. He married Rita Bernice Pudlawski on July 16, 1958 and  to this union four sons were born. Jinx worked for the Missouri Pacific Rail Road for many years and then for Pea Ridge Mine from where he eventually retired. He loved all kinds of sports, especially baseball and the Cardinals, and participated for many years in the Sr. Olympics where he medaled many times.  He was also a local bus driver for Sullivan Public Schools. He was preceded in death by nine siblings. He is survived by his wife, Rita Bernice Martin of the family home; four sons, Thomas W. Martin of Washington, Missouri, John H. Martin and wife Laverne of Sullivan, Missouri, Kevin M. Martin and wife Sheila of Bourbon, Missouri, and Robert M. “Bob” Martin and wife ReGina of Fletcher, Missouri; a sister, Faye Mills of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Marie Martin of Washington, Missouri; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Aline Sylvetta Schallenberg Aline Sylvetta Schallenberg known to her family and friends as “Vetta” formerly of St. James, Missouri, was born on January 24, 1921 in Dry Prong, Louisiana to Joseph and Unibell (Killingsworth) McClendon and passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 in Leawood, Kansas. Aline was united in marriage to Herman Schallenberg on December 6, 1941. This union was blessed with two children. Until Vetta left St. James to be closer to her children, she was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in St. James where she was very active. After moving to Kansas she enjoyed time spent with her family. Vetta especially loved her grandchildren and her dog Spotty. Aline was a big fan of dining out. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Unibell McClendon; husband, Herman Schallenberg; brothers, Joseph and Floyd McClendon; sisters, Pauline Shelton and Gladys McClendon. She is survived by her children, Herman Schallenberg Jr. and wife Sandra of Overland Park, Kansas, Lillian Baxter and husband Ron of Blue Springs, Missouri; grandchildren, Becky Bryant, Debbie Baxter, Rachel Schallenberg and Lisa Blue; great grandchildren, Brenden and Bennett Bryant; other relatives and friends.
