Lawrence Larry Bruning
Lawrence Larry Bruning of Leasburg, Missouri was born in East St. Louis,
Illinois on Tuesday, October 13, 1936 to Albert Conrad Bruning and Geneva
Lamkin Bruning. He passed away in his home on Wednesday, December 12, 2007
at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 29 days.
Larry married Marcie Lynn Schaefer on June 9, 1956 at Concordia Lutheran
Church, Bourbon, Missouri and to this union five children were born. After
Marcie’s passing on November 28, 1982, Larry later married Mary Jane Harrill
on July 4, 1991 in Troup, Texas.
His life-long career was in asphalt construction, retiring from Missouri
Petroleum and even owning his own company at one time. His hobbies were
fishing, hunting, following Cardinal baseball and reading.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcie; sisters, Clela McGwire,
Darleen Nelda Saunders; brothers, Paul Travelstead and Richard Bruning.
He is survive by wife, Mary Jane of the home; children, Robin (Deborah)
Bruning, Jeffrey (Jill) Bruning, Douglas (Cynthia) Bruning, all of Leasburg,
Missouri, Lori (Joseph) Philpot of Stanton, Missouri, David (Lisa) Bruning of
Japan, Missouri, Marcella (Craig) Cartmill of Lawton, Oklahoma, Evette
(Robert) Nolie of Sullivan, Missouri, Dustin O’Hanlon, Kaleb O’Hanlon and
Jaycob O’Hanlon, all of Lexington, Nebraska and Amber Westerman of Leasburg,
Missouri; parents-in-law, Rex and Joyce Harrill of Burneyville, Oklahoma;
21 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Memorial service was Sunday, December 16, 2007 at 5 p.m. at Living Word
Ministries Church in Leasburg, Missouri with Pastor Terry Mahurin officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba,
Missouri.
Lucille Katherine Laney
Lucille Katherine Laney, 84, of Cook Station, Missouri, was born July 10, 1923
in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Lillian (Ralston) Menke. She
passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Phelps County Regional Medical
Center in Rolla, Missouri.
On November 12, 1949, she was united in marriage to Jimmie Lane Laney who
preceded her in death on February 18, 2005.
Lucille was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Steelville. She
enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting in her spare time. Lucille enjoyed
spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved
nothing better than when family came to visit. Lucille loved sharing stories
of her childhood and the many exploits of her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Randall Kevin
Laney; one brother, James T. Menke and wife Rosemary.
She is survived by one son, Ronald Laney Sr. and wife Barbara of Cuba,
Missouri and one daughter, Norma Jean Walls and husband Charles Jr. of Cuba,
Missouri; one brother, John H. Menke Jr. and wife Virginia of Cedar Edge,
Colorado; four grandchildren, Ronald Jr. Laney, Sarah Laney and fiancé Keith
Franks, Nicholas Walls and Katherine Walls; one step granddaughter, Jessica
McMillian and fiancé’ Zach Brown; two great-grandchildren, Lessa Laney and
Jay Laney; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at St.
Michael’s Catholic Church in Steelville, Missouri with Father James Finder and
Rev. Alan Miles officiating. Organ music was played by Deloris Bell and Cantor
was Ralph Sellers. Servers were Elizabeth Barreca, Lane Sanazaro, Jacob and
Joseph Howdeshell.
Casket bearers were Matt Laney, Mark Laney, Tom Beezley, Nicholas Walls, Al
Moresi, Keith Franks and Zach Brown. Committal prayer and burial were in the
Wesco Cemetery at Wesco, Missouri.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of
Steelville, Missouri.
John Calvin Pennock
John Calvin Pennock was born to Christian C. Pennock and Annie Cavanaugh
Pennock on September 25, 1923, in Bourbon, Missouri. He passed away at the
age of 84 years.
He graduated from Bourbon High School in 1941, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy
in 1942. He served as a naval aviator and flight instructor and was released
to inactive duty December 31, 1946. John graduated from the University of
Texas College of Pharmacy in 1950 and then owned and operated his own
Pharmacy in Dallas, Texas for 27 years.
He married Joy Eubanks Hall on September 1, 1977, and then settled in Edgewood,
Texas. He worked as the pharmacist at Myatt’s Pharmacy in Wills Point from
1977 to 1981 and then at Bruce and Human Pharmacy in Wills Point from 1981
to 1995.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cecil Claudius Pennok,
Frances Marion Pennock, George William Pennock, Ernest Pennock, and Joseph
Lawrence Pennock.
He is survived by his wife, of Edgewood, Texas; sons, Stan Pennock of Dallas,
Texas and Greg Pennock of Parker, Texas; daughter, Shari Pennock Corley of
McKinney, Texas; grandson, Austin James Corley; granddaughters, Alyssa Joy
Corley and Casey Jade Frazier; other relatives and friends.
Services were Monday, November 26, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Cheatham Memorial United
Methodist Church in Edgewood, Texas. A private graveside service followed at
Josephine Cemetery in Josephine, Texas.
Pallbearers were Derrell J. Hall, Shane Musselwhite, Matt Matheson, Kavin
Corley, George Wilson, and William Wilson.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in
Edgewood, Texas.
Frank J. Repovich
Frank J. Repovich of St. Peters, Missouri, was born June 17, 1916 in
Livingston, Illinois and he passed away Sunday, December 9, 2007 at Barnes
Jewish St. Peters, St. Peters, Missouri at the age of 91 years.
He had been employed with the Ford Motor Company as an inspector in St. Louis,
Missouri. He served in the Army from September 28, 1942 until October 13,
1945 and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Soldier’s Medal. He was
a member of the Sts. Joachim and Ann Catholic church, VFW Post 2866 and a
33-year member of the UAW.
He was married July 3, 1946 to Virginia D. (Brewer) Repovich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry R. Repovich and nine
brothers and sisters.
He is survived by son, Jerry R. (Christina) Repovich of St. Peters, Missouri;
brother, Albert Repovich of Chula Vista, California; four grandchildren;
great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, December 11, 2007 from 3-6 p.m. and 9:30-10:30 a.m.
on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Sts. Joachim and Ann Catholic Church,
St. Charles, Missouri.
Interment at St. Charles Memorial Gardens, St. Charles, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Baue Funeral and Memorial Center,
St. Charles, Missouri.
Jewell J. Seaton
Jewell J. Seaton of Sullivan, Missouri was born on July 28, 1916 in Tamms,
Illinois to Jess and Alma (nee Smithey) Hargis. She passed away Thursday,
December 6, 2007 at the age of 91 years.
After school, Jewell worked during the war making munitions, then as a nanny
for St. Louis families. She married Claude Oreon Seaton on March 19, 1944 in
St. Louis, Missouri. After moving to Sullivan, Missouri, she worked for
International Shoe Factory for a time.
She was a member of T.O.P.S., taught Sunday school for years at Temple Baptist
Church and with her husband were members of the CB Club in Sullivan, Missouri.
She was an accomplished seamstress and cook. She enjoyed her time in the
garden, planting flowers and keeping a vegetable garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Leslie Howard
(Jack) Hargis; grandson, Scott Andrew Seaton.
She is survived by two children, Ben Seaton and wife Penny of Sullivan,
Missouri and Paula Copsey and husband Bruce of Fillmore, Missouri; four
grandchildren, Robin L. Beck, James Latzel, Amanda Latzel and Brian Copsey;
two great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2007 from the Chapel of the
Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Warren Brewer officiating.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
Leslie V. Steinbach
Leslie V. Steinbach of Sullivan, Missouri, was born on March 4, 1943 in
Hillsboro, Missouri to Oscar D. and Kathryn M. (nee Koch) Steinbach and he
passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the age of 64 years.
He served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a driller for many years
at Pea Ridge Mine. He was also an accomplished carpenter and enjoyed hunting
and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Judy Steinbach.
He is survived by two children, Curt Steinbach and wife Wendy, Marci Carey
and husband Kevin, all of Sullivan, Missouri; four grandchildren, Avery and
Braden Carey, Loren and Sarah Steinbach, all of Sullivan, Missouri; his mother
of Sullivan, Missouri; brother, Daniel Steinbach and wife Betsy of Sullivan,
Missouri; three sisters, Betty Clemens and husband David of Sullivan, Missouri,
Sally Ware and husband Mike of Sullivan, Missouri and Joan Heierding and husband
Bill of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran
Church in Sullivan, Missouri with Reverend Zachary Sturm officiating. Interment
was in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
Clifford Leo Wilkins
Clifford Leo Wilkins was born September 6, 1926 at Bixby, Missouri and passed
away Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the age of 81 years.
On September 27, 1952 he was married to Shirley Cleone Dotson and to this
union six children were born.
Clifford attended the Hickory Grove Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed fishing,
hunting and playing with his grandchildren. He was a retired county road worker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ranzie and Ada (Flowers) Wilkins; three
daughters, Tammy, Connie and Pamela Wilkins; four brothers, James, Charles,
Eugene and Earl Wilkins; two sisters, Mary and Ella Mae Wilkins.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three children, Betty Callahan and husband
Donald of Cherryville, Missouri, William Wilkins of Springfield, Missouri and
David Wilkins of Viburnum, Missouri; two sisters, Dovie Swanson of Tennessee and
Daisy Forshee, of Leadington, Missouri; four grandchildren, Donald and Scott
Callahan of Cherryville, Missouri, Brian Wilkins of Irondale, Missouri and April
Carter of Davisville, Missouri; seven great grandchildren; other relatives and
friends.
Funeral service was Friday, December 7, 2007 in the Wilson Mortuary Chapel in
Viburnum, Missouri with Brother Paul Pryor and Brother Mark Moss officiating.
Special CD’s were provided and music was by Stanley Chandler.
Serving as pallbearers were Brian Wilkins, Donnie (Duck) Callahan, Scott
Callahan, Bobby Joe Dotson, Jimmy Wilkins and Travis Wilkins. Honorary
pallbearers were Courtney Callahan and Kay Moses. Interment was in the Dotson
Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Wilson Mortuary of Viburnum,
Missouri.
