MO Local Obituaries for the Week of Dec. 20, 2001 Gary Britton Gary Britton was born Wednesday, March 4, 1952, at St. Louis, Missouri, a son of Twila (Rawlins) Britton and the late Jewel Londo Britton. He entered eternal rest Friday, December 7, 2001, in the St. John's Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 48 years, nine months and three days. He served his country in the United States Army from 1972 to 1979. During this time he served overseas in Italy from October 1973 to December 1976. He received the National Defense Service Medal, two Good Conduct Medals and the rank of SSG. On September 5, 1992, at Sullivan, Missouri, Gary was united in marriage to Theresa Alta Ford. Two daughters, Alta Christine Britton and Ayla Anastasia Britton, were born to this union. Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife, Theresa Britton of the home of Cuba, Missouri; his mother, Twila Britton of Sullivan, Missouri; four sons, Gary L. Britton of House Springs, Missouri, Joshua J.C. Britton of Springfield, Missouri, Jason R. Wilkerson and wife Miok of Korea, John F. Walker of Manchester, Missouri; three daughters, Kelly Taupier and husband Daryl of Cuba, Missouri, Alta and Ayla Britton of the home. Four brothers, Randall Britton and wife Judith of Arnold, Missouri, Claude Britton and wife Wendy of Gerald, Missouri, Aaron Britton and wife Tracy of Dittmer, Missouri, Jason Britton and wife Marla of Sullivan, Missouri. Four sisters, Lola Williams of St. Louis, Missouri, Lory McNamara and husband Michael of Afton, Wyoming, Lisa Terry and husband Wesley of St. Clair, Missouri, Gena Shipton and husband Robert of House Springs, Missouri. Three grandsons, Tristin Britton, Dacoda Lawrence and Justin Taupler, all of Cuba, Missouri; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. Gary Britton lay in state 4-8 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2001 at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2001 in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Bill Cunelo officiating. Musical selections were provided by vocalist Jessica Herman. Committal prayers and interment were in Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Aaron, Danny, Gary L., Jason, Joshua and Randal J. Britton and John Walker. Full military honors were provided by the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program at graveside. Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Linda Lee Jones Linda Lee Jones, 54, of Table Rock Lake area died at 8:13 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born on December 18, 1946 in Cuba, Missouri, the daughter of William and Frances Diehl Mullen. She was the office manager of Amerpride Inc. for 16 years. She was also a member of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church in Kimberling City, Missouri. She was married to Jerry Jones on May 28, 1966 and had lived in the Springfield area from 1969 to 1992 when they both moved to the Table Rock Lake area. Linda was an avid reader, she loved boating, gardening and needlepoint and especially loved her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Jerry of the home, her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Timothy and Kendra Jones of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Larry Casarotto of Leasburg, Missouri and Mary and Bud Giendhart of Phoenix, Arizona; three nephews and two nieces and two grandchildren, Chandler and Alexis; her father-in-law, Louis A. Jones of Cabool, Missouri; and a sister-in-law and her husband Virginia Lou and Jack Wells of Louisiana. Funeral services were held Friday, December 14, 2001 at 10 a.m. in Greenlawn South Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation was from 5-7 Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Kimberling City, Missouri 65686. Leonard Otto Parker Leonard Otto Parker was born Saturday, April 4, 1931 in Beloit, Wisconsin to the late Vernon L. Parker and Wilma Schuette Parker and departed this life at his home in Steelville, Missouri Tuesday, December 4, 2001. Leonard married Carol Louise Gullikson on April 24, 1960 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin and to this union three children were born. Leonard served in the United States Navy from March 7, 1951 until March 4, 1955. Leonard retired in 1999 from Spacesaver Corp. in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Leonard and Carol moved to Sligo, Missouri from Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin in December of 1999 and moved to Steelville, Missouri in October of 2000. Leonard and Carol attended the Rivers of Life Fellowship Church in Steelville until his health prevented him from attending. Leonard played softball until he was 50 years young and was an avid Packers fan. He loved his family and was very fond of his eight grandchildren who nicknamed him Grandpa Thunder. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Vernon Allen Parker and Thomas William Parker. Those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving wife Carol of Steelville, Missouri; his children Steve Parker and wife Nancy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kathy Caffrey and husband Neil of Fort Atkinson, WI, Kristen Melby and husband Scott of Steelville, Missouri. His sister Patricia Raymond and husband Leon of Beloit, WI; step brother George Parker and wife Penny of Rockford, Illinois; mother-in-law Mildred Gullikson of Steelville, Missouri. Brother-in-law and sisters-in-law George Gullikson and wife Carol of Waukesha, Wisconsin; and Lucile Urban of San Diego, California; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends all who will fondly remember and sadly miss Leonard Otto Parker. Visitation was from 2-3 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2001 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2001 at the Hutson Funeral Chapel in Steelville, Missouri. Arrangements were under the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri. Albert F. Wiles Albert F. Wiles of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at the age of 83 years. Mr. Wiles was born on May 21, 1918 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Charles Arthur and Alta (Stafford) Wiles. As a young boy, he traveled with his parents in a covered wagon from Oklahoma to Canada and remained there until the age of seven. On May 6, 1941, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Peredoe at Herculaneum, Missouri. Albert entered the United States Army in 1943 and honorably served his country during World War II. He supported his family throughout his adult years as a carpenter and tuck pointer. He also worked in the C.C. Camp at Babler State Park and later in the state of Utah. Albert was a follower of the Nazarene faith. He will be remembered and cherished as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean of the family home; three sons, Tim Wiles and wife Sandy of Bourbon, Missouri, Mark Wiles and wife Connie of Leasburg, Missouri and David Wiles and wife Patty of Sullivan; one daughter, Patti Reed and husband Steve of Sullivan, Missouri; one brother, Norman Wiles and wife Pauline of Cuba, Missouri; two sisters, Katherine Torrence of Herculaneum, Missouri and Martha Price of Sullivan, Missouri; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wiles was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Arthur Wiles and two sisters, Ethel Aldridge and Alta Wiles. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2001 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Bruce Torrence officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery.
