MO Local Obituaries for the Week of December 21, 2000 Joshua Kenneth Callahan Joshua Kenneth Callahan was born Monday, October 18, 1982, at Columbia, Missouri, a son of Kenneth Callahan and the late Tammy M. Callahan (nee Ratliff). He entered eternal rest, the result of an auto accident, near Steelville, Missouri, December 12, 2000, at the age of 18 years, one month and 24 days. He was a member of the 2001 Senior Class at Cuba High School and also attended the Super Market Career Program at Rolla Technical Institute. Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving father and stepmother, Kenneth and Loretta Fern Callahan; two sisters, Jennifer and Mary Beth Callahan all of the home in Cuba, Missouri; special parents Linda and Gary Skaggs, of Cuba, Missouri, (an aunt and uncle that cared for Josh when his mother died). Grandparents, Alice Krietemeyer, Melvin and Connie Ratliff all of St. Louis, Missouri, Dorothy Brown of Cuba, Missouri; great-grandfather Leland Cottrell of Viburnum, Missouri; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Norman and Luella Callahan. Joshua Kenneth Callahan lay in state 3-9 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2000, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2000, in the Britton Chapel, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Mark Smith officiating, assisted by Youth Pastor Mark Earney. Eulogy was given by Helen Adams. Musical selections were provided by pianist Teresa Smith, the Youth Choir of Rivers of Life Fellowship, and Bob Coleman. Committal prayers and interment were in Martin Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Shon Burke, Dusty Corbett, Laron Hilke, Greg Neff, Rodney Neff, Machery Ruble and Sam Stovall. Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Mabel Estelle Dillman Mabel Estelle Dillman of St. James passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2000 at St. Sophia Nursing Home in Florrisant, Missouri. She was 86 years, seven months and 14 days of age. Mabel was born on April 26, 1914 in Fredricktown, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ada Frances Lawrence. On May 8, 1937, Mabel was united in marriage to Leonard Lawrence Dillman. He entered into rest January 1, 2000. Mabel is survived by her two daughters, Linda Stoutt and her husband Leon of Overland, Lisa Copeland and her fiancé David Wells of Sullivan. She is survived by four grandchildren: Lisa Copeland, Sondra Curtis and her husband Chris, Bonnie Welker and Kevin Purcell. Along with nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on December 12, 2000 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Brother Dave Menge officiating. Hymns, "Amazing Grace" and "In the Garden" were played for her funeral. Pallbearers were family and friends. Burial was in the St. James Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri. Jewell Mae Ellis Jewell Mae Ellis nee Shoemate of Cuba, Missouri was born on January 28, 1907 at Winkler, Missouri to the union of John Shoemate and Nora Shoemate nee Adams and passed away on December 15, 2000 at St. James, Missouri at the age of 93 years 10 months and 17 days. On April 9, 1932 Jewell was united in marriage to Benjamin Ellis. Three sons, Russell, Raymond and Roy David, and three daughters, Lucille, Leona Mae and Linda, were born to this union. Jewell and Benjamin were happily married until he preceded her in death on February 7, 1988. Jewell was also preceded in death by her parents, one infant cons, Roy David Ellis, brother Raymond Shoemate and one sister, Pearl Licklider. Jewell was a long time member of the Cuba First Baptist Church of Cuba, Missouri. Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her two sons Russell Ellis and wife Cloetta, Raymond Ellis and wife Shirley; three daughters Lucille Blume and husband Bud, Leona Mae Yates and husband Larry and Linda McArthur and husband Bob; 13 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. Jewell was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Jewell Mae Ellis nee Shoemate was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Monday, December 18, 2000 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Bray officiating. Music was by Darlene Cape and Corrinne Stumpf. Pallbearers were Don Holt, Jr. Rusty Ellis, Rodney Ellis, Bryan Ellis, Zachary Lamb and Mark Pfeiffer. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby McArthur, Bud Blume, Larry Yates and Bob McArthur. Interment was in the Licklider Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. Memorials to the Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. All arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Mary Ann Hayes McGuire Mary Ann Hayes McGuire was born on March 21, 1950 in St. Louis, MO to the union of Virgil L. Hayes and Bernice Z. Hayes. Mary was united in marriage to Aaron Red McGuire in the spring of 1969. To this union was born two daughters, Anna J. Ollar McGuire and Carla M. Pogue McGuire. Anna J. McGuire Ollar resides in Meridian, OK with her husband Bob Ollar, Carla M. McGuire Pogue resides in Jefferson City, MO with her husband Lee Pogue. Mary was preceded in death by her father Virgil L. Hayes and a step-daughter Sharon Shepard McGuire. Left to mourn her loss are her husband Aaron Red McGuire; two daughters and sons-in-laws; Anna J. Ollar and husband Bob, Carla M. Pogue and husband Lee; one stepson Donnie McGuire and wife Connie; her mother Bernice Hayes; fifteen brothers and sisters; many nieces and nephews; and many good friends. Mary Ann loved animals of all kinds. Any one that knew her knew that. She enjoyed being outside and seeing the beauty around her. Mary was a dedicated wife and mother that loved her family with all her heart. Mary enjoyed visiting with her friends and family. Mary will be dearly missed by all that knew her. I know that she will enjoy herself in her new home, enjoying the beauty and visiting passed friends. We all love you. Burial was held at the Perkins Cemetery in Perkins, OK. Barbara Louise McMillen Barbara Louise McMillen of St. James passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2000 at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was 68 years, one month and 11 days of age. Barbara, the late daughter of Swithon T. and Margaret Elizabeth Ogle Southerland, was born October 25, 1932 in Granite City, IL. She was united in marriage to Claude McMillen on November 22, 1950, and to this union five children were born. She is survived by her husband, Claude of the home; two sons Roger of St. Louis and Mark and wife Karen of St. Charles; three daughters Claudia Marie Horne and husband Tom of Piedmont, Glenda Lee Ehrilach and husband Mark of St. Louis, and Amy Louise McMillen of St. James; one sister Virginia McMillen of St. James; and seven grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Ronald Southerland and Glenn Southerland. Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2000 at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Likely officiating. Burial was in the family plot at the Keysville Cemetery near Steelville, MO. Memorials may be made to the Keysville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roger McMillen, Mark McMillen, Jay McMillen, Toney Southland, Tim Horne, and Mark Ehrilach. Arrangements were under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James. Clyde A. Miller Clyde A. Miller was born on October 30, 1948 in Washington, Missouri to Earl Miller and Mildred Carrick Miller. He passed away on December 9, 2000 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 52 years, one month and nine days. On October 28, 1972, Clyde was united in marriage to Beverly Foust in Cuba, Missouri and to this union two children were born. They have resided in Sullivan, Missouri the last 10 years. Clyde attended Steelville High School. On December 24, 1967 Clyde was inducted into the United States Navy, where he served on active duty until he was honorable discharged on September 30, 1969. He was in the Naval reserve until December of 1973. Clyde has worked for Chrysler Corp. in Fenton, Missouri for the last 28 1/2 years where he was looking forward to retirement in one and half years. He belonged to UAW Local 110. Clyde loved his wife, children and grandson Damon. He also adored animals especially his dachshund pup "Big Jake." He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a NASCAR Winston racing fan. He was preceded in death by his father Earl Miller. Clyde is survived by his wife Beverly Foust Miller and son Joseph Daniel Miller of the home, his eldest son Thomas Miller and wife Amy of Bourbon, Missouri; his mother Mildred Miller of Steelville, Missouri; his sisters Mary Miller of St. Louis, Missouri, Dorothy Forsberg of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother Bob Miller and wife Carol of Rowlett, Texas, Alan Miller and wife Barbara of North Carolina, Ron Wisdom and wife Janette of Steelville, Missouri; mother-in-law Winnie Foust of Cuba, Missouri; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Helen and Ben Dunn, Granite City, Illinois; Eugene and Reba Foust of Naples, Florida; Ann and Frank Hance of St. James, Missouri; Susan and Larry Meatte of Andrews, Texas; Eunice and Sam Bouse, Patty Foust, and Larry Foust all of Cuba, Missouri; special nephews Brian and Marc Richardson; grandson Damon Miller, other relatives and many friends, all who will sadly miss and fondly remember Clyde Miller. Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri from 4-9 p.m. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Delmar B. Hutson officiating. Burial was in Meramec Hills Memorial Lawn, Cuba, Missouri. Pallbearers were Sam Bouse, Larry Foust, Ray Westhouse, Jimmy Oatman, Ben Dunn and Bill Powers. All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri. James Henry Parker James Henry Parker of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Monday, December 11, 2000 at the age of 70 years. Mr. Parker was born July 10, 1930 at Berryman, Missouri to the late Van and Hazel (Burns) Parker. He was a life-long resident of the Sullivan area and was employed several years as an auto mechanic under Ben Strothcamp. On January 28, 1949, he was married to Betty Cross at Sullivan and to this marriage three children were born. Mr. Parker found pleasure in hunting and working on cars. He was a member of Meramec Valley Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Betty of Sullivan, two sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Toni Parker of Bourbon, Missouri and Carl and Sandy Parker of Sullivan; one daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Ron Jeter of Springfield, Illinois; two brothers, Charles Parker of the state of Arkansas and Donald Parker of Sullivan; three sisters, Opal Hammonds of Union, Missouri, Evelyn Skorez of the state of Arkansas and Betty Buchanon of Union, Missouri; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by a brother Ray and by two granddaughters. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2000 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Richard Williams officiating.
