Arthur W. Abney
Arthur W. Abney of St. Charles, Missouri was born July 21, 1940 in Goodwater,
Missouri to Leslie P. and Letha Parks Abney and passed away Sunday,
December 5, 2010 at the age of 70 years.
On August 1, 1992, he was united in marriage to Shirley Parmer.
Arthur was a driver for Be-Mac Trucking in St. Louis and retired after 35
years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Letha Abney; brothers,
Herman Abney and wife Hilda and Leman Abney; sisters, Bertha Thornton and
husband Leonard, Velma Byrd and husband Paul, Shirley Herr and husband Bob,
Verda Hawthorne and husband Thurman and Norma Jean Skaggs.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of St. Charles, Missouri; three sons,
Rob Abney and wife Krista of Baldwin, Missouri, Brent Abney and wife Earlene
of O’Fallon, Missouri and Richard Abney of Old Monroe, Missouri; five
daughters, Robin Younger and Christy Dalton of Granite City, Illinois,
Bobbi Campbell of Marian, Illinois, Stephanie Cherry of Staunton, Illinois
and Kelly Sinovich and husband Matt of O’Fallon, Missouri; 18 grandchildren;
three great grandchildren; one brother, Arnold Abney and wife Betty of
Steelville, Missouri; one sister, Vernice Englehardt of Steelville, Missouri;
sister-in-law Martha Abney of Salem, Missouri; brother-in-law, Radis Skaggs
of Viburnum, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Memorial service was held at noon on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers
officiating. Special music of “When We All Get to Heaven” and “God Rest
High” was played.
Committal prayer and inurnment was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Salem,
Missouri.

Steelville, Missouri.
Kenneth Russell Bishop
Kenneth Russell Bishop of Steelville, Missouri was born to Joseph and Vinie
Bishop at Anthonies Mill, Missouri on April 23, 1921 and passed away
Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Cuba Manor at the age of 89 years, 7 months
and 22 days.
On March 5, 1943 in Potosi, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Ava
Walker.
Kenneth was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall at Sullivan,
Missouri. Before retiring at the age of 62, he worked for Brown Shoe Company
for 33 years. He was a hard working family man and enjoyed gardening and
spending his leisure time around the home place.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Vinie Bishop; his wife,
Ava on December 7, 2009; two siblings, Joseph Bishop Jr. and Ione Harris
; daughter-in-law, Roberta Bishop; sister-in-law, Aileen Moutray and husband
Raymond; brother-in-law, Thomas Walker and wife Betty.
He is survived by his four sons, David Bishop and wife Ella of Potosi,
Missouri, Ron Bishop and wife Rosalee of Steelville, Missouri, Russell Bishop
and wife Linda of Cook Station, Missouri and Dale Bishop of Ranchester,
Wyoming; seven grandchildren, Tracy Brawley and husband Tommy, Thomas Bishop
and wife Megan, Mary Corlett, Becky Bishop, Jason Bishop, Rusty Bishop and
Matthew Bishop and wife Becca; nine great grandchildren, Bailey, Ashley,
Sarah, Joseph, Wyatt, R.J., Elaina, Goldie and Emma; sisters-in-law,
Florence Souders and husband John of Fenton, Missouri, Margaret Bishop of
Pevely, Missouri and Fairy Bryan Walker of Bourbon, Missouri; brother-in-
law, Ronald Harris of Leasburg, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Elder Tim Hertel
officiating.
Memories were shared by son, David Bishop. Special music of “He Will Call”
and “He Leadeth Me” was played.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Liberty Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Jason Bishop, Rusty Bishop, Thomas Bishop, Matt Gillam,
Bill Harrison and Gene Kimker.

Cevera M. Crouch
Cevera M. Crouch nee Paschang of Steelville, Missouri was born on Wednesday,
July 31, 1940 in Martinsburg, Missouri to Henry and Colletta Ahrens Paschang
and passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the age of 70 years,
4 months and 15 days.
Cevera married James C. Crouch on December 21, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Church,
Martinsburg, Missouri and to this union three children were born.
Cevera was a homemaker where she enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting.
She especially looked forward to her friends and family visiting and spending
time together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Colleta Paschang and
husband, James.
She is survived by her children, Curtis W. (Terri) Crouch of Steelville,
Missouri, Celeste E. (John) Robinson of Tennessee, and Crystal L. (Doyle)
Ragsdell of Wellsville, Missouri; sister, Mary Jo (Jim) Gentry of Flint
Hill, Missouri; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; other relatives
and friends.
No public service will be held.

Ellsworth L. Hodge
Ellsworth L. Hodge of St. James, Missouri was born on May 25, 1920 in
St. James, Missouri to Lee and Mary (Roster) Hodge and passed away
December 12, 2010 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla,
Missouri at the age of 90 years.
Ellsworth was a graduate of the St. James High School Class of 1938. He
then went to California to attend the Boeing Aeronautic School where he
graduated in 1942. He proudly went on to serve his country in the United
States Army from January 1942 through October 1945, where he served
overseas landing in North Africa, Sicily and Italy.
On December 21, 1946 Ellsworth was united in marriage to Muriel Bullock,
they were then blessed with two children.
Ellsworth was a faithful member of the St. James Christian Church for
61 years, serving as a Deacon for 22 years; the Bus Ministry for 15 years
and on the Board of Trustee’s for many years; he was a member of the
VFW #2025 in Rolla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Mary Hodge; son, John
Hodge; sisters, Goldie Hodge, Iva Wood, Jewell Hodge and Opal Payer and a
brother, Roy Lee Hodge.
He is survived by his wife Muriel of the home, they were celebrating 64
years together this month; daughter, Sandra Rankin, of Jefferson City,
Missouri; granddaughters, Penny Doty, of Lakeland, Tennessee, Amy Burcham
and husband Ryan of Wentzville, Missouri and Michelle Claire and Brandy
Hodge; great grandchildren, Madison, McKinley and Riley Doty, Brooklyn
Burcham, Jaden Claire, Braden Burcham and Cayman Claire; sisters, Ina Pace,
of St. Louis, Missouri and June Lauth and husband Leroy; brother-in-law,
Charles Payer; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, December 14, 2010 from 5-7 p.m.
Funeral service was Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the
St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Pastor Aaron
Jeffers officiating.
Interment in the St. James Cemetery with full military honors.

Rev. Donald F. Johanningmeier
Rev. Donald F. Johanningmeier, Catholic priest, of St. Louis, Missouri, was
born on July 20, 1941 in Normandy, Saint Louis County, Missouri to Carl
‘Dutch’ and Marie M. (Noonan) Johanningmeier and passed away Friday,
November 5, 2010 at the age of 69 years.
After his seminary studies he was ordained to the priesthood on May 11, 1968
by Archbishop John J. Carberry. His first Mass was celebrated in his home
parish of St. Ann in Normandy. He served as a supply priest, helping out at
St. Michael Catholic Church in Steeleville, Missouri.
He farmed on his own farm in the St. James, Missouri area, and had a
bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry, in addition to his theological
education. He served in various parishes in the St. Louis Archdiocese.
He was a priest for 42 years.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Gordon Johanningmeier.
He is survived by two sisters, Mary Ann Hampton and Joan Steska and one
brother Carl J. Johanningmeier.
The funeral mass was celebrated on Monday, November 8, 2010 at Saint Ann
Church, Normandy.
Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis.
Arrangements under the direction of the O’Sullivan Muckle Mortuary,
Chesterfield, Missouri.
Irma Marie Mitchell
Irmgard “Irma” Marie Mitchell of Rolla, Missouri was born in Bergkamen,
Germany to Franz and Dorothea (Hoffman) Jertz and passed away on Saturday,
December 11, 2010 at the age of 87 years.
On September 1, 1944 she married Ralph Arnold “Dick” Mitchell.
Irma was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during WWII. She was
a talented quilter, having made many over the years for her family and
friends. She also enjoyed cross-stitching and knitting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Franz and Dorothea Jertz;
husband, Dick on January 18, 1987 and two sons, Arnold Lee and John David.
She is survived by six children, Ronald Mitchell of Dothan, Alabama, Connie
Chrisco and husband Larry of Rolla, Missouri, Donald Mitchell and wife Beth
of California, Missouri, Robert Mitchell of St. James, Missouri, Thomas
Mitchell and Jean Mitchell of Rolla, Missouri; 19 grandchildren; numerous
great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two sisters; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 beginning at 10 a.m. at
the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. at the Null and Son Funeral Home in
Rolla, Missouri with Pastor Tim Cook officiating.
Interment followed in the Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Missouri.
John Jennings Pratt
John Jennings Pratt of St. James, Missouri formerly of Cuba, Missouri was
born to E.B. and Frances (Talbot) Pratt on March 1, 1930 in Memphis,
Tennessee and passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 in Rolla, Missouri
at the age of 80 years.
John was united in marriage to Kathleen Sewell on June 15, 1957 in
Overland, Missouri.
John honorably served his country in U.S. Navy from 1948-1952. He obtained
a Bachelors Degree from the Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee. He
retired from working as an LPN having worked for Briarwood Nursing Home in
Cuba, Missouri, Veterans Home of St. James and Phelps County Regional
Medical Center-Long Term Care.
John was a preacher and his greatest interest was working for the Lord
thru being an Elder, Bible Class teacher and bus driver at the Church of
Christ in Cuba. In his spare time he enjoyed reading and watching
different construction projects in the area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, E.B. and Frances Pratt; one
sister, Norma Brown; one brother, Joel Pratt and brother-in-law, Robert
Sewell.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Pratt of St. James, Missouri; four
children, Samuel and wife Debra Pratt of Vancouver, Washington, Dwight
and wife Cindy Pratt of Santee, California, Andrew and wife Linda Pratt of
Strongsville, Ohio, Roberta Doherty of Wildwood, Missouri; five grand-
children, Eric and Michael Doherty; Emily, Timothy and Ray Pratt; one
sister, Roxanna Mangrum of Richmond, California; one sister-in-law,
Margaret Matheny of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Memorial visitation was held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 from 10 a.m.
until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Cuba,
Missouri with Pastor Steven Wick, officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
