Judy Ann Burnham
Judy Ann Burnham formerly of St. James, Missouri was born June 23, 1954 in
St. Louis, Missouri to Carl and Lonnie (Denny) Stringer and passed away
December 10, 2009 at her home in Mesa, Arizona.
Judy was united in marriage to Victor Ford on January 8, 1995 and to this
union a daughter was born. Victor passed away April 22, 1997. Judy was united
in marriage to Ernest Burnham on February 2, 2002.
For many years Judy worked as a certified Nursing Assistant before finding
her love of customer service in the form of a gift consultant for J.C Penney
and most recently she worked with her husband Ernest as caretakers for a
mobile home park in Mesa, Arizona. Judy loved to read and spend time with
her family which now consisted of not only her daughter but with Ernest she
inherited four more children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lonnie Stringer and first
husband, Victor Ford.
She is survived by her husband Ernest, of the home; daughter, Deanna Jersett
and husband Seth of Lees Summitt, Missouri; step children, Eudora Burnham of
Tucson, Arizona, Shelia Burnham of Tucson, Arizona, Health Burnham and wife
Monica of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, Jonathon Burnham and wife Lorrie of
Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren, Kaylee, Cheyenne, Rylad Burnham; great
grandson, Alexander Hack; sisters Imogene Seurynck and half-sister, Shirley
Reynolds, both of Gerald, Missouri.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, December 18, 2009 from
11 a.m. until service time.
Funeral service at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary on
Friday, December 18, 2009 at 1 p.m. with Clyde Burnham officiating.
Interment will be in the Wishon Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction
of the James & Gahr Mortuary.
Ivan V. Colyott
Ivan V. Colyott of Steelville, Missouri was born on Monday, March 14, 1938
in Freeburg, Illinois to Clarence Edgar Colyott and Ethel Jane Huff Colyott
and passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Gibbs Care Center at the
age of 71 years, 9 months and 2 days.
Ivan married Sharon Ann Douglas in Altus, Oklahoma on April 5, 1959 and to
this union one daughter was born.
He was an auto mechanic for many years in Steelville, Missouri. His hobbies
were hunting, fishing, bowling, camping and just being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ethel Colyott; wife,
Sharon Douglas Colyott; brothers, Daniel Gipson and Olin Gipson; sisters,
Delsia Laramore and Lily Laramore; brother-in-law Newman Douglas and
sister-in-law Sandy Arnold.
He is survived by his daughter, Zanada and husband Ernest Martin of
Steelville, Missouri; brothers, Bill Colyott of Ft. Meyers, Florida, Clevel
Colyott of Prenston, Illinois, Clarence “Gene” Colyott of Steelville,
Missouri and Hank (Pat) Gipson of Fayetteville, Illinois; sisters, Edna
Mahurin of Mountain Grove, Missouri and Dessie Wake of Annapolis, Missouri;
grandchildren, Brittany, Chelsea, Cassidy, and Canaan Martin of Steelville,
Missouri; brother-in-law, Paul Douglas of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 2-5 p.m. at Hutson Funeral
Home, Steelville, Missouri and funeral service on Monday,
December 21, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Beers officiating.
Burial at Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
Kathryn Mae Cox
Kathryn Mae Cox of St. James, Missouri was born in St. James, Missouri on
September 3, 1923 to Otto K. and Cassie Krueger and passed away
December 15, 2009 in Rolla Missouri at the age of 86 years.
Kathryn Mae grew up in St. James and attended the public schools graduating
in the class of 1941.
She was united in marriage to William (Bill) Cox in 1942 and to this union
a son was born. Kathryn Mae and Bill Cox were very active in all St. James
city and community projects. Kathryn was past member of two St. James
federated clubs, the St. James Civics Club and the St. James Junior Club,
which she helped organize. She was an avid golfer when her health permitted.
As a young woman she was baptized and became a member of the First Christian
Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Cassie Krueger and
husband, Bill who passed away July 16, 2008.
She is survived by her son, Tom and wife Pati of St. James, Missouri;
grandsons, Brandon and Derrick Cox; relatives and friends.
Visitation was Friday, December 18, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. at the James &
Gahr Mortuary.
Funeral service was Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the
St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Gary Bartle officiating.
Interment was in the St. James Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bob Wilson, Randy Verkamp, Dennis Wilson, Bill Kirgan, Bill
Marshall, Jim Morrison, Wilson Hughes, Greg Doss. Honorary Pallbearers were
Betty Lu Hughes, Margie Wilson, Mary Halloway, Tillie Gahr, Diane Zigler,
Mary Lou Corn, Meredith Morrison, Alma Lee Verkamp and Velma Leah
Hutchenson.

Vernon Gibbs
Vernon “Randy” Gibbs of Cuba was born in Rolla, Missouri on Friday,
November 23, 1951 to Vernon Lamar Gibbs and Hazel Geneva Gray Gibbs and
passed away in St. Louis, Missouri on Tuesday, December 15,2009 at the age
of 58 years and 22 days.
Randy married Cathy Gunn on December 19, 1973 and to this union one daughter
was born.
He worked for the Chrysler plant in Fenton, Missouri where he retired from
and was a member of the UAW. He was a member of the South Lawn Baptist Church
in Amarillo, Texas. At one time, he enjoyed gymnastics and most recently his
hobby has been fishing. He loved his dogs Rogue and Rocky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Hazel Gibbs and
brother-in-law, Charlie Medlock.
He is survived by his daughter, Jenny (Bryan) Pemble of Chatham, Illinois;
sister, Nancy Susan (Ronnie) Watson of Fulton, Missouri, and Norma (Kenny)
Brakefield of Steelville, Missouri; half sister Eunice Medlock of Cuba,
Missouri; granddaughter, Sydney Gibbs; nieces and nephews, Tina (Mark)
Trusty of Fulton, Missouri, Leesa (Darrel) Boyer of Herman, Missouri, Pamela
Fredrick of Nashville, Tennessee, Tausha (Mike) Brakefield, Kenneth “Flip”
(Sha) Brakefield, all of Steelville, Missouri; great niece, Kenna Brakefield
and great nephew, Levi Brakefield, all of Steelville, Missouri; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. and funeral service
Friday, December 18, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri with Rev. Delmar B. Hutson officiating. Burial at Kinder Cemetery,
Cuba, Missouri.

Dorothy Maxine Meurer
Dorothy Maxine Meurer of St. James, Missouri was born on October 14, 1937
in St. James, Missouri to Walter L. and Lola (Sewell) Claus and passed away
at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri on Monday,
December 14, 2009 at the age of 72 years and 2 months.
Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. James, Missouri.
She loved to cook, spend time with her children and grandchildren and
reading the Bible and taking care of Grandpa (Frank).
She was preceded in death are her parents, Walter L. and Lola (Sewell)
Claus; her first husband, Charles G. Crawford; four brothers, Leslie, Jack,
Henry, and Tommy Claus and one sister, Mae Suetterlin.
She is survived by her husband, Frank E. Meurer of St. James, Missouri;
children, Terry L. Crowley and husband Tim of St. Elizabeth, Missouri,
Douglas Crawford and wife Andrea and Christopher Crawford and wife Cynthia,
both of St. James, Missouri; grandchildren, Stephanie Way and husband Heath,
Rhiannon Ketcherside, Kristina Ward, Amanda Crawford, Caitlyn Crawford,
Haden Crawford, Samantha Crawford, Matthew Crawford, and Gwendolyn Crawford;
seven great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Claus and wife Joyce of
St. Peters, Missouri, Donald Claus and wife Dorothy of Crestwood, Missouri,
Harold Claus of St. Charles, Missouri; sisters, Marie Arnicar of Affton,
Missouri, Loree Morehouse and husband Dorris of St. Louis, Missouri,
Juanita Foust, Wilma Sheridan and husband Jack and Millie Hendricks, all
of St. James, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Jones
Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 11 a.m.
at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Jerry Baumann
officiating.
Pallbearers were Dennis Foust, Donnie Foust, Jeff Glenn, Ronnie Morehouse,
Gene Claus, and Les Clancy.
Music of “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace” was provided by Stephen
Brubaker.
Burial was in the family plot in the Oak Grove Cemetery in rural St. James,
Missouri.

Sylvester “Bud” E. Patterson
Sylvester E. “Bud” Patterson of St. James, Missouri was born to George L.
and Laura (Jackson) Patterson on Wednesday, January 4, 1922 at Lepanto,
Arkansas and passed away Sunday, December 20, 2009 at St. James, Missouri
at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 16 days.
Bud retired from Caterpillar Company after many years of service. He
proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member
of the St. James VFW Post #5608. In his spare time he enjoyed playing
Bingo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George L. and Laura Patterson;
wife, Dorothy D. Patterson; two brothers, Marshall and Donald Patterson;
one sister, Juanita Taylor; other relatives and friends.
He is survived by two sisters, Shirley Barnes of Cuba, Missouri and Hazel
Hall of Belleville, Illinois; other relatives and friends.
Private services were held with interment at Fort Snelling National
Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Missouri.
Herbert W. Proffer
Herbert Wilson Proffer of Cuba, Missouri was born to Kendall and Elizabeth
(Bollinger) Proffer on Saturday, October 8, 1921 at Marble Hill, Missouri
and passed away Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Sullivan, Missouri at the
age of 88 years, 2 months and 11 days.
Herb retired from Wagner Electric Corporation as a Machine Operator on
August 22, 1980. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He enjoyed watching sports on TV, playing Solitaire and spending time with
his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kendall and Elizabeth Proffer;
three brothers, Sam, Bud and Everett Proffer; two sisters, Fern Stone and
Ina Huckstep; one grandson Scott Kirkendall; other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille (Abney) Proffer of the home; ten
children, Jackie and husband Butch Kirkendall of Maplewood, Missouri,
Sharon Landgon of Fenton, Missouri, JoAnn Moore of Overland, Missouri, Karen
and husband Paul Heibenstriet of Dallas, Texas, Barb Ort, Chuck Proffer and
Steve and wife Lisa Proffer, all of Cuba, Missouri, Kim and husband Carlin
Dreyer of Affton, Missouri, David Proffer and Lisa Copling, both of Cuba,
Missouri; one brother, Frank and wife Donna Proffer of Cape Girardeau,
Missouri; one sister, Lenora Schultz of Arnold, Missouri; 19 grandchildren;
18 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 21, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Britton
Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. at
Britton Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Coleman, officiating.
Interment followed at Skaggs Cemetery, Huzzah, Missouri.

Charles Ervin Stack
Charles Ervin Stack of Mexico, Missouri, was born in Cuba, Missouri on
January 13, 1943 to Charles M. and Julia M. (Guidicini) Stack and passed
away December 16, 2009 at the age of 66 years.
On October 26, 1968 he was united in marriage to Norma J. (Lanich) Stack.
He attended Blue Springs, a one-room school through eighth grade. He
transferred and graduated from St. James High School. He then attended
Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (UMR or Missouri School of Science
and Technology). He graduated with a bachelor degree in geology. In the
early 80’s he was awarded an advanced honorary degree.
Chuck served in the Army Corps of Engineers. After service he went to work
for A.P. Green. He began as their junior geologist and at his retirement in
2000 he was Chief Geologist. He enjoyed turkey hunting, traveling and
hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Julia Stack.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; son, Martin Lee Stack and wife Michelle
of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Christina Unger and husband Brian of Mexico,
Missouri; grandchildren, Gabi and Shelby Stack of Dallas, Texas and Emma,
Jackson and Chase Unger of Mexico, Missouri; two sisters, Sandra Bax and
husband Ted of Columbia, South Carolina and Doreen Marcum and husband Mark
of Tazwell, Tennessee; three brothers, Dennis Stack and friend Carol of
St. Louis, Missouri, Dwight Stack and wife Cindy of St. James, Missouri
and Irvin (Corky) Stack and wife Kathy of St. James, Missouri;
brother-in-law, Edward Lanich of Blountstown, Florida; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was Friday, December 18, 2009 at Arnold Funeral Home, Mexico,
Missouri
Funeral Mass was at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the St. Brendan
Catholic Church in Mexico, Missouri with Reverend John J. Schmitz
officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of the Arnold Funeral Home, Mexico,
Missouri.
Bernie Winkle
Bernard W. (Bernie) Winkle was born in St. Charles, Missouri on March 22, 1930
to William and Loraine (Young) Winkle and passed away December 19, 2009 at
his home in St. James, Missouri at the age of 79 years.
Bernie proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean
War from June 1947 to January 1950. Bernie received the Victory Medal and the
Asiatic Pacific Medal.
Bernie was the father of three children when he met and married the former
Reva Bock in July of 1980, inheriting the three children Reva had, they set
out to make a life for their family.
He worked in new building construction and for Boys and Girls Town. He loved
woodworking, fishing, motorcycles, and hanging out with fellow Veterans at
the St. James V.F.W.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Loraine Winkle.
He was survived by his wife Reva, of the home; children, Billy, Ginger and
Vicki Winkle; step children, Pamela Morton, Sharon Sisson, and Byron Bauer;
brothers, Steve, Melvin and Eddie Winkle; 16 grandchildren; 16 great
grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Monday, December 21, 2009 from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the
St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Father Charles Pardee
officiating.
Interment in the High Gate Baptist Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary.
