Lyle and Gay Lynn (Haynes) Crocker and passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 after a vehicle accident at the age of 31 years, 8 months and 22 days. Adam grew up in St. Louis, Missouri until he moved to Mesa, Arizona in 2001 where he attended Boulder High School. While in Arizona, he loved to hike, explore and photograph the scenery, especially the Superstition Mountains. After moving to Cuba, Missouri he worked for his cousin at Rich's Burgers in Steelville, Missouri with Bob Bell and most recently at Swinger Sanitation in Cuba, Missouri. Adam enjoyed motorcycles, riding dirt bikes. He loved driving the backroads of Missouri, traveling to Arizona, Illinois and Oklahoma all to find places to take pictures. He had photographed every covered bridge in Missouri. He enjoyed going to Bennett Springs State Park. He became very close with his co-worker and buddy, John Dane. Adam was most influenced in life by his good friends Dylan Holub, Michael Fletcher and his Aunt Peggy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Virginia Crocker and Ronald and Doris Haynes; and aunt, Barb Haynes. She attended Madison High School in Ohio. She attended a Pentecostal Church and had accepted the Lord. She married Lewis Henry Fox in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on March 8 1984. She worked as a cook and waitress in various restaurants, a security guard and a manager in the Public Housing industry. She managed the Cuba Apartments during her later years and was recognized for her "good service" in cleaning up the properties. In early years, Antonina liked to cook and spend time fishing with her husband. In recent years, she loved making Indian crafts such as headdresses, jewelry, mandalas and dream catchers. She also enjoyed playing computer games and being active on Facebook. She loved staying in close contact and being up-to-date with all her friends and family members. Sylvia Jean Hartwick Sylvia Jean (nee Kosfeld) Hartwick of Bourbon, Missouri was born on October 14, 1935 in Cuba, Missouri to Martin L. and Gertrude C. (nee Siemens) Kosfeld and passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the age of 85 years. Sylvia married Ivan P. Hartwick on June 16, 1956. Sylvia was a lifetime resident of Crawford County, with most of her years spent in Bourbon, Missouri where she was a homemaker. She was an active member of the Bourbon Seventh-day Adventist Church into which she was baptized on September 6, 1952, serving in many offices and taking on various responsibilities throughout the years. She had a beautiful singing voice, winning a 1 rating in Girls High Voice at the Central Missouri District Competition at Rolla on March 30, 1951 and an Honor Rating 2 at the University of Missouri Columbia's Missouri Interscholastic Meet - Music Festival on April 28, 1951. Through the years she sang solos, sang in duets and trios for church services and other local programs. Sylvia is remembered for her pleasant smile and contagious laughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Gertrude Kosfeld; three brothers, Martin Kosfeld, Milton Kosfeld and Larry Kosfeld; two sisters, Ruth Kosfeld and Alice Woodruff; and one sister-in-law Jean Kosfeld. She married Harold Gene Hogue on August 30,1958 and they moved from Cook Station, Missouri to St. Louis, Missouri. Nadene spent over 40 years in a career she loved at Martiz, working her way from the mailroom to senior leadership and paving the way for countless female leaders behind her. After retirement, she took careful care of Gene as he was fighting a long battle with cancer and raised her great granddaughter, Emilie Marlene Hogue. She enjoyed quilting and was well known for her beautiful and intricate designs, many of which she gifted to friends and family. She was also a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gene Hogue; son, Rickey G. Hogue; grandson, Daniel P. On October 7, 1967 she married Donnie King in Vienna, Missouri. Barb worked for many years at the St. James Leader Journal newspaper office until she joyously became a full-time grandma. She was an active member of Ft. Wyman Baptist Church in Rolla, Missouri where she frequently taught Sunday school, helped coordinate VBS, served on committees, won many church "cookoffs" and helped whenever she was needed. She lived her life in service to the Lord. She was a voracious reader and stray cat rescuer. Her care and concern for others was evident on a daily basis. Her love never shone brighter however than when she spoke of and was in the presence of her grandchildren, Megan and Daniel. Patricia was baptized in 1956 and became a member of the Big Piney Baptist Church in 1957. Patricia, whom most people knew as Gayle, worked at Zeno's for many years, where she not only served you your meal, but also served you a smile and warm conversation, she had many regular customers that would come and ask to be seated in her area. She raised her children in Rolla, Missouri before embarking on her new adventure. She moved to Florida in June 1981. She enjoyed the sun and the beach and took a job at Palm Coast Data as a print press operator. She worked for the company for 20 years. While in Florida she met Michael King and they were married in 1995. She had many hobbies and interests over the years including reading, crocheting, and gardening. She also loved mowing the grass with her husband, bird watching and playing with her dog Cocoa. Edward Harris Lakaner Edward Harris Lakaner of Bourbon, Missouri was born in Steelville, Missouri on August 12, 1937 to William A. and Mabel J. (Shoop) Lakaner and passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the age of 83 years. He grew up attending school in Steelville and graduated with the Class of 1956. Edward entered into the United States Army and served his country in Korea and various other places. He married his first wife, Doris Lee White on July 8, 1961. Doris passed away in 1971. For many years, Edward worked as a machine maintenance man for McDonald Douglas, Chrysler and Proctor Products. Most recently, he retired from Mar-Bal in Cuba, Missouri in 2007. Edward was united in marriage to his second wife, Doris Anna Merritt in 1986. Shortly after marrying, they moved to the Bourbon, Missouri area. Edward was a member of Steelville Presbyterian Church, where he was baptized on April 9, 1950 and later he and Doris became members of Lasting Hope Assembly of God in Bourbon., Missouri Edward loved eating at the Circle Inn in Bourbon, Missouri. He referred to it as his favorite spot. He also loved fishing, hunting and drinking a beer. In his later years, Edward enjoyed traveling with Doris. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Lee Lakaner; his parents, William and Mabel Lakaner; and one brother, Ted Lakaner. He is survived by his wife, Doris Lakaner; five children, John C. Raymond graduated from Cuba High School. After graduating he joined the United States Navy where he served his country honorably for four years during the Cuban Crisis. When he returned home he worked at McDonnell Douglas for a year, then moved to Reno, Nevada where he was a hotel maintenance manager and worked for Harold's Club. He enjoyed attending the "Burning Man" event each year in the desert where he rented bicycles to those wishing to participate. Raymond was a survivalist. He loved to read, especially science fiction novels. He enjoyed writing horror stories and watching war movies, specifically World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Anna Leslie; sister-in-law, Sharon Lee Leslie; and niece, Angela J. Simpson. Nadine lived in Missouri and Illinois before moving to Tucson, Arizona. There she met Lad Joseph Manor on St Patrick's Day 1963 on a blind date. They were married June 10, 1963. In 1976 Lad quit his job, packed up the family and moved to Missouri. Nadine was a devoted homemaker for her family. She loved horses, flower gardening, and was an amazing baker and cook. She always attended activities that involved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Lad in 2016; parents, Arthur and Margaret Bell; and 15 brothers and sisters. Albert married Lorene Pyatt on February 5, 1955 in Steelville, Missouri. Albert honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a retiree of the St. Louis Carpenters Local and for a few years he owned operated Martin's Saw Shop in Steelville, Missouri. Albert and Lorene loved to travel to Arizona and Wyoming. He enjoyed bee keeping, gardening and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. "R.C. Bob Franklin McClain Bob Franklin McClain was born in Ishmael, Missouri to Ralph and Nellie (nee Beers) McClain on March 20, 1936 and passed away on December 11, 2020 at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 22 days. Bob was a Christian who accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior when he was a young man at Joseph Chapel Church and later rededicated his life at Huzzah Baptist Church where he became a member and was baptized by Brother Moreland in the Huzzah River. He was a graduate of Valley High School and served honorably in the U.S. Army for two years and three months spending two of those years stationed in Germany. On December 26, 1959 he married Bonnie Fern Haffer. Bob and Fern were a team. They were together whether it was doing chores, cutting grass or just having fun. They attended church regularly when weather and health permitted. They loved to travel and had so much fun going to a few states each year accomplishing all 50 states throughout the years. Bob liked nothing better than going on fishing trips with his nephew, David McClain. Bob and Fern loved going to their cabin on the McClain farm. Bob enjoyed deer hunting. Virgie (Woolsey) McKinnon Virgie (Woolsey) McKinnon was born in Newburg, Missouri on June 16, 1942 and passed away on December 9, 2020 at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 24 days. Virgie was always by Jerry's sidekick while traveling as he played shows all over the country with his band. She was a socialite who never met a stranger. Once settled in St. James, Missouri Virgie loved to crochet, cook and shop. Virgie worked for many years and retired from Boys and Girls Town where she was referred to as "Mom" by many residents as she worked as a house parent. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerold McKinnon. She is survived by her children, Shawn (Kathy), Delia, and Joshua; grandchildren, Brett, Mike (Jill), Nick, Kate (James), Luke, Ian and Stormie; many great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Theodosia Wilhemia Bullock Meurer Theodosia Wilhemia Bullock Meurer of St. James Missouri was born on December 4, 1927 in St. James, Missouri to William and Dosia Bullock and passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the age of 92 years. At the young age of 10, her father passed away at the age of 50. Theodosia was given the nickname Teddy by a girlfriend that couldn't pronounce her name. Her many friends continue to call her Teddy. Teddy attended school at St. James, Missouri but didn't like school much, in particular math. Her favorite subject was probably spelling. She attended school until her second year of high school and then left school to get a job to help her mother. Teddy worked at Rice Stix Garment Factory in St. James, Missouri for 40 years, until it shut down. She was a very good seamstress and made special dresses for various clothing stores. Teddy was married twice. She was married to Frank Meurer for 17 years. She loved country music and singing karaoke. Her friends thought she sounded like Patsy Cline, her favorite song to sing was "Crazy." Teddy attended the first Baptist Church in St. James, Missouri and was baptized by Rev. Lanning in the Meramec River. She enjoyed roller skating with her friend, until the day she fell on the sidewalk and broke her leg. Teddy had a Toy Manchester for 10 years named Dandy. He slept with her and followed her everywhere she went in the house. She enjoyed crosswords and other puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dosia Bullock; siblings, Delmar Bullock, Sylvia Bell, William "Shorty" Bullock, Johnny Bullock, Gene Bullock and infant brother, Charles Franklin Bullock. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Ann Bullock of St. James, Missouri and Shirley Lee Prewett of Maryland Heights, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Ken married Maggie Hall on June 7, 1959 in Bourbon, Missouri. Ken honorably served his country in the United States Army. He retired as an Aircraft Inspector from Boeing, in July of 1999 after 42 1/2 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed planting a garden every year, growing roses, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, George C. and Mary Paynton. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maggie R. Mary married Charles Redding on April 23, 1977 in St. Louis, Missouri. Mary was a homemaker, she enjoyed taking care of home and family. She loved to play solitaire and bingo. Her favorite drink was a cold "Pepsi". She could be found watching the news, Criminal Minds and Blue Bloods or listening to country music. Joseph Mannfred Rice Joseph Mannfred Rice of St. James, Missouri was born April 28, 1948 in Ogallala, Nebraska to Frederick and Ruth Margaret (Peterson) Rice and passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the age of 72 years. On December 24, 1982 he married Anna (Eads) Rice in Rolla, Missouri. Joe served his country for eight years in the U.S. Army. He did two tours in Vietnam. He was a gourmet cook for the top brass while in the service. Joe also loved nature and animals. He loved working with his hands, whether it be building engines or motors to building furniture. Joe built his home in 1986 where he resided until his death. No one needed to hire a mechanic if Joe was available. Joe worked on some of the major meat processing plants in the U.S. when he was younger. At some point, he began driving big rigs over the road for different trucking companies. He drove for J.B. Hunt Transportation for 16 years and received many awards including the Million Mile Award, Driver of the Year, Professional Truck Driver and Carnegie Hero fund for saving the life of a driver from within a burning tanker truck filled with hydrofluoric acid. He also helped a couple escape from their overturned motor home. In December of 2011 Joe was badly injured while making a delivery in North Carolina rendering him disabled. Joe was of Protestant denomination. He could answer about any question one would have about the Bible. He always said that he and God have an arrangement. He is survived by his wife, Anna Rice of St. James, Missouri; one son, Louis William Watkins of Edgar Springs, Missouri; daughter, Sally Ann Watkins of St. James, Missouri; two sisters, Karen Zuege of Council Grove, Kansas and Linda Burke of Laredo, Texas; one grandson, Colton Watkins; other relatives and friends. William "Reid" Stephens William "Reid" Stephens of Bourbon, Missouri was born on Monday, February 4, 1924 in Hinch, Missouri to Mont Homer and Mamie Frances (Wymer) Stephens and passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the age of 96 years, 10 months and 11 days. Reid graduated from Bourbon High School in 1942. In March of 1943 he was inducted into the United States Army where he served and fought during World War II. In February of this year, he was awarded The Order of The Crown, the second highest Belgian Order Of Knighthood for his outstanding service during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. He was a machine gunner with the 23rd Armored Infantry Battalion of the 7th Armored Division and fought with his fellow soldiers to hold back a German offensive that threatened to break the Allied lines. His platoon stayed back to provide rearguard security for his battalion and this cost him his freedom as he was taken as a prisoner of war by the German army. After his release and honorable discharge from the Army, he attended Moler Barber School in St. Louis and was the local barber in Bourbon for 42 years. Reid's Barber Shop was known as "A Good Place to get clipped." In August of 1947 he married his first wife Lucille Mildred (Eaton) Stephens. Reid married Alice Richardson on July 1, 1972 in Bourbon, Missouri and celebrated 48 years together this past summer. He was an avid fisherman. He was very active in his church and taught Sunday School for over 20 years. Reid and Alice attended 1st Southern Baptist Church of Leasburg, Missouri in recent years as his health allowed. He was also a member of the Bourbon American Legion for 75 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Mamie Stephens; parents-in-law, Herb and Tessie (Oliver) Eaton and William and Eula (Denney) Richardson; son, William Ronald Stephens; brothers, Virgil Stephens, Jim (Lee) Stephens and Clarence (Rose) Stephens; sister-in-law, Ida Thom; and brothers-in-law William Herman Richardson, Lawrence Ray and Franklin (Terry) Richardson. Ruby Isolene Stites Ruby Isolene Stites of Steelville, Missouri was born August 17, 1933 in Keysville, Missouri to Winfred and Dovie Oxendine Stites and passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 27 days. Isolene had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Steelville, Missouri for many years and also attended Victory Baptist Church at Cherryville, Missouri. She graduated from Cherryville High School. For 20 years, she was employed at Gibbs Care as a supervisor over housekeeping in which she loved her job, retiring in 1995. Isolene enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting and cooking chicken and dumplings for her family on Sunday. She loved to cook and enjoyed sharing new recipes. She was kind and caring and loved going to church to praise God when she was able to go. She was preceded in death by her parents, Winfred and Dovie Stites; two brothers, Cecil Stites and Bill Stites; sister-in-law, Deloris Stites; and nephews, Michael Plank, Dale Wayne Stites and Brian Stites. Mabel Velma Taylor Mabel Velma Taylor of Sullivan, Missouri was born in Champion City, Missouri on March 20, 1926 to Louis and Lizzie (Riske) Schebaum and passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the age of 94 years. She grew up in St. Louis, Missouri eventually making her home in the Sullivan, Missouri area in 1963. Mabel married Edward L. Taylor on May 20, 1944. Mabel was employed in several shoe factories in both St. Louis and Sullivan, Missouri. Then, for many years, Mabel cleaned for Hassebroek's Funeral Home, Peterson Oil, KTUI Radio Station and several private homes. Mabel's last employment was for the Bank of Sullivan, where she served as custodian for 23 years. Mabel had a great sense of humor and she loved playing a variety of card and board games. She also enjoyed gardening and fishing. Mabel had an extensive collection of salt and pepper shakers that she collected from all over the country. Mabel was a long-time member of New Testament Baptist Church, a 10-year member of Eastern Star Chapter 105, she volunteered many hours to the Sullivan Hospital Auxiliary and was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Taylor; one son, Louis (Sonny) Taylor; two grandchildren, Kim Romay and Gene Hopwood Jr.; one great grandchild, Sydney Hopwood; parents, Louis and Lizzie Schebaum; six siblings, Bill, Otto and Louis Schebaum, Elise Dierking, Irene Schebaum and Ida Schebaum in infancy; and one son-in-law, Gary Kraemer. Melba married James Vance on December 24, 1948. Melba enjoyed going to yard sales, church singings, fellowship with friends. She attended Free Will Baptist Church in Salem, Missouri and Cuba, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents. Bonnie was a fun person to be around. She was always happy and the first one to tell a joke and to light up the room. She loved to crochet, make items out of plastic canvas and to quilt. Bonnie loved her crafts but her true blessing was giving her creations away, her heart was happiest when she could give her talents to someone else.
