Bryan of Steelville, Missouri was born August 4, 1924 in Leasburg, Missouri to George and Lola Pearl (Walker) Bryan and passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 84 years. On December 18, 1948 he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Summers in Steelville, Missouri. “Salty” attended the Baptist Church at Leasburg when he was younger. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. “Salty” worked and retired from the Missouri State Highway Department. “Salty” was a Past Master of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge in Steelville. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors where he loved to hunt, fish and work in his vegetable garden. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter-in-law, Fern Bryan; one grand-daughter, Ksenia Kimberly Bryan; four brothers, Jewel Bryan, Jim Bryan, Lindell Bouse and Russell Bryan; two sisters, Mary Katherine Low and Anna Lois Gerling; brothers-in-law, Parker Ray and Bud Sappington, Dick McInnis and Levi Mitchell. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years; two sons, Jerry Bryan and Terry Bryan and wife Barbara all of Steelville, Missouri; two brothers, Thomas Bryan and wife Shirley of Bridgeton, Missouri and Charles Bryan and wife Mary Ann of St. Charles, Missouri; four sisters, Velma Allison of Steelville, Missouri, Wanda Ray and Norma Ruth Sappington of St. Charles, Missouri and Georgia Bryan of St. James, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Sherlene Bryan of St. Louis, Missouri, Fairy Walker of Bourbon, Missouri, Ina Bouse of Steelville, Missouri, Clara Jo Picarella and husband Louie of Crystal City, Missouri, Beverly McInnis and Georgia Mitchell of Steelville, Missouri: brothers-in-law, Larry Gerling of Villa Ridge, Missouri and John Summers and wife Joan of Cedar Hill, Missouri; three grandchildren, Lisa Marie Cooper and husband Roger, Christopher Allen Bryan and wife Pamela and Damian John Bryan; two great grandchildren, Riley McKenna Cooper and Carter Wilson Bryan; other relatives and many friends. Masonic rites were held Friday evening by the Lebanon Lodge of Steelville. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Britton- Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Music of “In the Garden” and “Amazing Grace” were sung and played by Carol and Bob Coleman. Special memories were given by Randy Mitchell. Military honors were given by the U.S. Navy with Rob Bowness playing “Amazing Grace” on bagpipes. Committal prayer and interment were in the Pinnell Cemetery at Steelville, Missouri. Gloria Mae Dickhoener Gloria Mae Dickhoener, nee Chaplin, of Cuba, Missouri was born on Friday, March 22, 1940 to Orla Chaplin and Ina Mae Massey Chaplin. She passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the age of 68 years, 8 months, and 25 days. Gloria married Edward Joseph Dickhoener in Reno, Nevada on April 2, 1966. At one time, Gloria worked as a waitress at the Midway hotel and U-Save restaurants. She also had been employed at the Donut Hole when the Chandler family owned it in Cuba, Missouri. Most recently, she retired from San-Val industry in Steelville, Missouri and was a cook at the Pilkenton Residential Care facility. She was a people person and loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother Jimmy Norman and one sister Virginia Chaplin. She is survived by her children, Richard (Janet) Pacini of Brisbane, California, Edward J. Joan “Joni” Ann Govro Joan “Joni” Ann Govro, 67, of Steelville, Missouri was born July 28, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri to Edward and Anna (Nussbaum) Lammert and passed away Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Gibbs Care Center in Steelville, Missouri at the age of 67 years. On August 19, 1985, she was united in marriage to Jim Govro. She had been an active member of the Steelville Area Chamber of Commerce. She and Leona Sexton designed a children’s coloring book for the chamber and she designed the mascot logo of Rebecca and Charley. Joni helped start the Christmas Pageant for the children and was actively involved in making the town’s Christmas festivities a special event with her husband. She created the logo for the Steelville Country Club. She was a member of the Steelville Art Guild and was involved in starting the Mrs. Dogwood Pageant where she made the first crown. Joni also helped her husband in Kiwanis. Cindy Martin always referred to her as “My Fair Lady” because she always took the time to do everything to perfection and paying attention to every detail. As a young child in St. Louis, she was raised in the Catholic faith and attended Visitation Academy. After moving to Steelville, however, she professed her faith in Christ and considered Cindy Martin as her pastor. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 23 years; her daughter, Dawn Frank of Brentwood, Missouri; one son, Michael Alan Smith Jr. of Joplin, Missouri; three grandchildren, Michele, Jonathan and Ashley Ward and husband Dan; two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Miller; other relatives and friends. Hollingshead of Sullivan, Missouri was born January 15, 1934 in Leasburg, Missouri to James William Hollingshead and Florence Osa Ann (Farrar) Hollingshead, one of 14 children and passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the age of 74 years. He worked on cars all his life, retiring from Feese Chevrolet after 45 years. He enjoyed bowling, putting together puzzles, hunting and fishing and Cardinal baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Oscar, Floyd and James Hollingshead and two sisters, Lula Richardson and Agnes Hollingshead. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie L. Keeney of Bourbon, Missouri was born on April 14, 1915 at Bourbon to Eahud and Ollie Lea (Pennock) Dollar and passed away at her home on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the age of 93 years. Mimi, as she was known to her family and friends was a life-long resident of Bourbon and on August 9, 1933 was united in marriage to Heber O. Keeney. Together they owned and operated the former Tomboy grocery store in Bourbon, Missouri. They later sold the market and Virginia became a cashier at the same location. After a time, she and her husband operated a trailer court in Bourbon, Missouri, from which they both retired. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bourbon and a volunteer at the Bourbon Senior Center and the Bourbon Thrift Shop. She enjoyed music and was an accomplished harmonica player. Along with her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by two infant sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Carol Pasch and husband Frank of Hastings, Minnesota and Ann Wilson and husband Keith of St. Clair, Missouri; one sister, Frieda Keeney of Sullivan, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Everett Eugene “Gene” Parrish Everett Eugene “Gene” Parrish was born on October 14, 1942 to Robert Everett and Mary Gladys (Pierce) Parrish and passed away at his home in St. James, Missouri on December 14, 2008. He was 66 years and 2 months of age. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, William Charles Parrish. Thelma Faye Sellers Thelma Faye Sellers of Arnold, Missouri was born April 3, 1928 at Courtois, Missouri to Reco and Bessie (Brakfefield) Mason and passed away Monday, December 15, 2008 at her home at the age of 80 years. She was united in marriage to James Edward Sellers on March 29, 1947 in Steelville, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1984. Thelma attended the Arnold United Baptist Church in Arnold, Missouri. As a young lady she was baptized and was a member of the Lower Indian Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout her life, Thelma always enjoyed taking care of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Ronnie Sellers; two brothers, Eugene Mason and Vondel Mason and an infant sister. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Hazel Mason of Steelville, Missouri and brother-in-law Gilbert and Gerry Sellers of Davisville, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Sandra Sellers of Davisville, Paul Mason of Rolla, Missouri, Lyle Mason of Arcadia, Kansas, Alan Sellers of Jackson, Missouri, Donald O’Conner of Canada, Barbara O’Conner of Tennessee and Michael O’Conner of Indiana. James Knox “Jim” Tice James Knox “Jim” Tice of Strafford, Missouri, formerly of Sullivan, Missouri, was born on May 7, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Herbert Emanuel and Arvona (nee Wyatt) Tice and passed away on Monday, December 8, 2008 at the age of 74 years. Jim graduated from Sullivan High School then later obtained teaching and masters’ degrees. After official retirement, he continued promoting excellence in education through innovative applications of existing and emerging technologies that provide greater access to learning opportunities for everyone. He contributed diligently to the Veterans Oral History Project, genealogy research, and various school and other educational interests. He served as coach, teacher, administrator, and educational consultant in the Spring Bluff, Sullivan, Strafford, and Springfield areas. His most recent role was Research Associate for Missouri Virtual School, Center for Scientific Research & Education at MSU. He was always an active church member, notably of Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan, Missouri and of First Baptist Church in Strafford, Missouri. Jim passionately shared his ministry of music as choir director, soloist, and a member of the Templemen Quartet. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Herbert Wayne Tice. He is survived by his wife, Lois (nee Reeves) of the family home; four sons, Terry Ray Tice and wife Tammy of Coos Bay, Oregon, Gary Wayne Tice and wife Rosario of Springfield, Missouri, Sean Kelly Ronald Tice and wife Sorina and, Eran James Tice and wife Katherine, all of Littleton, Colorado; three daughters, Crystal Yvonne Tice-McBride and dear friend Gerald of Springfield, Missouri, Tammy Jae Nail and husband David of Pittsboro, Indiana, and Robyn Yvette Tice Butler and husband Steve of Florissant, Missouri 30 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sister-in-law Vera Louise (Royse) Tice; other relatives and friends. All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home. Ronald G. Ware Ronald G. Ware of Bourbon, Missouri was born December 23, 1940 to Roy A. and Loree G. (Stevens) Ware at Cuba, Missouri and passed away, Friday, December 12, 2008 at the age of 67 years. Ron attended and graduated from Cuba High School class of 1958. He served overseas in the United States Army from 1959-1962. On February 12, 1963 He was united in marriage to Christiane M. Guenzi. He was employed in the Mining and Automotive Industry until retirement in 2004. He enjoyed spending time with his sons, camping, boating and water skiing. He also enjoyed flying his plane and working in the yard. Although Ron was diagnosed with A. L. S. (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) a few years ago, he maintained his dignity and continued to be a man of integrity. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Neil Ware; his father; and a sister-in-law, Paula (Harris) Ware. He is survived by his wife, of Bourbon, Missouri; two sons, David Ware of Bourbon, Missouri and Brian Ware and wife Julie of Wallkill, New York; his mother; of Bourbon, Missouri; two brothers, Michael Ware and wife, Sally of Sullivan, Missouri, Robert Ware of Bourbon, Missouri; one sister, Berdina Guynn of Yuma, Arizona; other relatives and friends.
