MO Local Obituaries for the Week of December 24, 2019 Margaret Leona Boldt Margaret Leona Boldt (nee Ogle) of Cuba, Missouri was born on Sunday, April 19, 1936 in Granite City, Illinois to Fred and Pearl Ogle and passed away in her home on December 16, 2019 at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 27 days. Growing up Margaret worked hard on the family farm. When her parents sold the farm and moved into Steelville, Missouri they purchased the Palladium CafŽ/ Pool Hall where Margaret worked during her teen years. She also was crowned Miss Bell Telephone during the 1950Ős in Steelville, Missouri. Margaret married David Boldt on February 17, 1957 in Steelville, Missouri. They moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she worked for So Good Potato Chips. Later, they lived in Ironton, Missouri and she was employed with Brown Shoe factory for several years until she had failing health. She attended Free Will Baptist Church in Cuba, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Pearl Ogle; husband, David Boldt; son, Billy Boldt; granddaughter, Angie Powell; grandson, Lucas Boldt; brothers, Richard, Fred and Bob (Ruth) Ogle; sister, Shirley (Noah) Livesay; and brother-in-law, Bill Boldt. She is survived by her sons, David F. Boldt of Union, Missouri and Thomas (Caroline) Boldt of Steelville, Missouri; significant other, David Christisen of Cuba, Missouri; brothers, Ray (Glenna) Ogle of Annapolis, Missouri and Jimmy Ogle of Steelville, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Pat Ogle of Sullivan, Missouri, Caroline Daugherty of New Haven, Connecticut, Nancy (Mark) Markussen of Seattle, Washington, Marian (David) Kraft of New Haven, Connecticut and Linda Ogle of Steelville, Missouri; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Karen Diane Cottrell Karen Diane Cottrell (nee Mullen) of Steelville, Missouri was born August 4, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri to John and Leona Schroeder Mullen and passed away Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 8 days. Karen grew up in South St. Louis, Missouri graduating from Bishop DeBourg High School. She attended college at Loretto Heights College which is now Regis College in Denver, Colorado. After coming back to her home area in St. Louis, she met William R. ŇBobÓ Cottrell and they were married on August 22, 1964, in St. Louis, Missouri. union five children were born. Karen was a substitute teacher for the Steelville Schools for a Few years and worked for a couple of years at the Crawford County Social Services office and at the U.S. Census Bureau. Later, she and Bob bought a farm in 1979 and went into business for themselves building the Huzzah Valley Stables and resort business. What began as a few campsites and canoes quickly grew into a favorite vacation spot known as Huzzah Valley Resort attracting visitors from far and wide. Karen also was employed at the USDA/ASCS/-FSA office as the program assistant manager retiring in the early 2000Ős. Karen was a long-time member of St. MichaelŐs Church serving in different capacities and a member of the Parish Council of Crawford County. She spent many hours volunteering for the community whether it was as President of the Steelville Chamber of Commerce and active member or helping at the Steelville Food Pantry or Golden Echoes. She was also president of the MO RV Park & Campground Association for two years and a member & supporter of the Missouri Canoe & Floater Assoc. Matthew Lynn Griffin Matthew Lynn Griffin of Leasburg, Missouri was born in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, June 15, 1963 to Joseph Reed and Mable Irene (Cheek) Griffin and passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the age of 56 years, 6 months and 4 days. Matthew accepted the Lord early in life and had attended Living Word Ministries in Leasburg, Missouri. He worked as a factory worker most of his life and was last employed at ATRO Engineered Systems as a Mold Technician. He enjoyed barbecuing and singing karaoke. He loved his dog Roscoe, For which he made homemade meals daily. Matthew was a family man. He loved seeing his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and loved having everyone together. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mable Irene Griffin; and sister Patsy Lee Webb. He is survived by his father Joseph Griffin of Hale, Michigan; siblings, Nina (Jim) Dillion Hanesack of Jefferson City, Missouri, Gloria McWilliams of River Rouge, Michigan, Danial (Eddie Faye) Griffin of Sullivan, Missouri, Trula (Dan) Parsons of Sebring, Florida, Regina Henson of Ferndale, Michigan, Gail Fritz and Scarlet (Richard) Enke, both of Leasburg, Missouri and Thomas Griffin of St. Louis, Missouri; brother-in-law, Gary Webb of Hale, Michigan; puppy, Roscoe; other relatives and friends. Troy William Pyatt Jr. Troy William Pyatt Jr. of Cuba, Missouri was born July 14, 1953 in Steelville, Missouri to Troy William and Virgina Leora Brown Pyatt and passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the age of age 66 years, 5 months and 7 days. Troy married Sharon Baker on October 13, 1973 at the Center Ridge Pentecostal Church in Davisville, Missouri. Troy grew up in Cherryville/Davisville, Missouri area and graduated from Viburnum High School. He was employed at Doe Run and retired in 2012. Troy attended the Assembly of God Church in Cuba, Missouri. Troy had a God given talent for his wood making skills such as wooden toys, signs and different types of cabinets and to the ones who own his crafts, they are cherished. For a period of time, he had his own shop, Pyatt Custom Cabinets. Troy enjoyed watching TV, especially old westerns and sci-fi and listening to old country music. He also loved playing word and Yahtzee games with his wife, Sharon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy Pyatt and Leora Pyatt Hewkin; mother-in-law, Emma Baker; and sister-in-law, Beverly Jean Baker. Ottis accepted the Lord in 1952 and was recently a member of Trinity Chapel of Leasburg, Missouri. He married Bertha Juanita Bland on July 26, 1947 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He was a machinist in the automotive parts industry. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and any kind of outside work. Ottis was a very faithful servant of the Lord and preached the gospel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mamie Smith; parents-in-law, James and Helen Bland; wife, Bertha Juanita Smith; daughters, Miriam Gail DeClue, Sharon Brown and Audrey (John) Mendoza; brother, George O. Carol "Janet" Walls Carol ŇJanetÓ Walls of St. James, Missouri was born on September 4, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri to Ned and Ella Mae (Honey) Brewer and passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at the age of 76 years. She married James Walls on November 6, 1960. Janet worked for many years for Nickerson Farms. She was part of the management team. She also worked for Hiland Dairy and was a make-up consultant. Janet was a vary active member of the St. James First Baptist Church. She enjoyed shopping. She attended sporting events and school functions of her grandchildren. The entire family would get together at least once a year for a trip to Branson, Missouri where they would spend a few days enjoying the entertainment and all the fun, and food Branson had to offer. Janet was an incredible cook and she really enjoyed it. She would make Sunday dinners, and cook for every holiday. She was preceded in death by her parents Ned and Ella Mae; and her brother, Kenneth Brewer. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Walls of the home; children, James Walls of St. James, Missouri and Robin Collier and husband Ron of Rolla, Missouri; special niece, Michelle Woodruff of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren, William (Christine) Fisher, Calista (Matthew) Hixenbaugh, and Madison Collier; great grandchildren, Coley and Luna Hixenbaugh, and Deegan Fisher; sister, Betty Cornelius of Ohio; other relatives and friends.
