Helen Irene Boren
Helen Irene Boren of St. James, Missouri was born in St. Louis,
Missouri to Harry and Florence (Gorman) Hughes and passed away Friday,
December 20, 2013 at her home.
Helen was united in marriage to Robert Boren on October 13, 1951,
and to this union five children were born.
Helen and Robert spend 58 years together before his passing.
She loved to cook and garden, sharing the bounty of her garden with
family, friends and neighbors. She enjoyed reading, dancing and
bowling. Helen really loved to have her hair done once a week and
there were some things she would put off, but never, ever a hair
appointment with Donna Lorts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Florence Hughes;
husband, Robert in 2010; son, Mark D. Boren, and her brother, Bobby
Hughes.
She is survived by her children, Deb Chick and husband Jim of
St. James, Missouri, Michael Boren and Sandy Shunk of Madison,
Wisconsin, Cathy Shaw and Harry Hegger of St. James, Missouri,
Sheila Frisch and husband Rich of House Springs, Missouri; grand-
children, Michael Boren JR (Leigh), Rick Frisch III (Ashley), Jason
Frisch (JoHanna), Nick Gargus (Jessica), Amber Gargus, and James
Chick III; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Angela, Jayden, and Hunter;
other relatives and friends.
Graveside services Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the Gorman
Cemetery in St. James, Missouri with Reverend Lindy Hardwick
officiating.
A funeral precession at the James & Gahr Mortuary at 10:45 a.m.

Billy Joe Cook
Billy Joe Cook of Cuba was born to Joseph Arthur “Pete” and Thelma
Louise (Bailey) Cook on June 12, 1949 in Vichy, Missouri and passed
away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the age of 64 years.
Bill was united in marriage to Della May Eoff on April 11, 1992 in
Cuba, Missouri.
Bill worked many years as an auto/diesel mechanic and was a livestock
farmer. He honorably and bravely served his country in U.S. Army
during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart and two Bronze
Stars. A member of the Disabled American Veterans, he enjoyed being
a stock car fan, hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Arthur “Pete” Cook
and Thelma Louise Terry; two brothers, Daniel Arthur and Donald Eugene
Cook; two sisters, Teresa Lynn Happle and Dorothy Cox.
He is survived by his wife, Della May Cook of Cuba, Missouri; two
daughters, Billie Jo and husband Jason Wade of Dickenson, Texas,
Donna Rae and husband Arnold Payne of Kokomo, Indiana; three sons,
Robert and wife Judy Branson, Allan and wife Ettie Branson, Troy
Richardson, Jr., all of Cuba, Missouri; step-father, Lloyd Terry of
Vienna, Missouri; two brothers, Mitchell and wife Sheila Terry of
Vienna, Missouri, Gary Lee and wife Mary Jo Cook of Salem, Missouri;
one sister, Mary Ellen Snethern of West Plains, Missouri; six grand-
children, Danni Rae Wade, Brittani Nichole and husband Drew Sanford,
Candice Lynn Richardson, T.J. Richardson, Cody and Ryan Lee Branson;
sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at
Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 1 p.m. at
Mizell Funeral Home with Bro. John Ripley, officiating. Interment
followed at the Vienna Public Cemetery, Vienna, Missouri with military
honors.

Tom J. Counts Sr.
Tom J. Counts Sr. of Cottage Grove, Tennessee was born on
October 11, 1946 in Crawford County, Missouri to Arthur Lee and
Eula Juanita Eaton Counts and passed away on Wednesday,
December 18, 2013 at the age of 67 years.
Tom formerly worked and retired from Tennessee Asphalt Company with
over 40 years of service.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time with his
family.
He was united in marriage to Laura Jean Davenport on July 28, 2001
at Cottage Grove, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Eula Counts;
brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Erma Lee Counts; grandson, Dylan
Blaylock Counts; and first wife, Priscilla Ann Mayberry Counts.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Jean Davenport Counts; daughters,
Terri Michelle and husband Philip Norris of Springville, Tennessee,
Tamara Jo and husband Randy Holland of Big Sandy, Tennessee and
Elizabeth and husband Mark Scott of Buchanan, Tennessee; sons, Tommy
Joe and wife Donna Counts of Paris, Tennessee and Kyle Bratton of
Cottage Grove, Tennessee; sister, Willa Mae and husband Everett
Williams of Cuba, Missouri; brothers, Lee and wife Mary Counts of
Steelville, Missouri, Frank and wife Connie Counts of Steelville,
Missouri and Gary and wife Joyce Counts of Steelville, Missouri;
grandchildren, Brandy Norris, Bridge Norris, Hunter and wife Heather
Norris, Grant Holland, Jordan Counts, Chase and Blayne Hillard and
Kira and Nelani Bratton; great grandchildren, Archilles Samples and
Madaley Norris; other relatives and friends.
Cremation with a memorial service at Temple Baptist Church will
be held at a later date.

Paris, Tennessee.
James (Jim) Ertl
James (Jim) Ertl of Bourbon, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri
on September 14, 1931 to Otto H. and Geneveive Mary (Balmer) Ertl
and passed away at his home on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the age
of 82 years and 3 months.
Jim, as he was known by his family and friends, was raised in the
Overland area and after attending high school entered in military.
He honorably served his country during the Korean War era with the
U.S. Air Force for a total of eight years. Jim was quite proud that
he had served as a crew chief on the P-51 Mustang. After his discharge
in 1959, Jim held numerous jobs throughout the area that included
Proctor Products and PACO but for the greater part was employed as a
mechanic for Dillon Auto Repair in Bourbon.
Jim was married on September 11, 1965 to Shirley G. Dillon at Bourbon,
Missouri.
Jim also enjoyed jet boating on the river, going to the drag races
and car shows. He also followed Cardinal baseball. Jim was a
devoted member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church of Sullivan, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of the family home; one son, John
Ertl and wife Valli of Bourbon; five grandchildren; one great
grandson; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Geneveive Ertl; and
a sister, Eleanor Klearman.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Decmeber 18, 2013 from 9:30-11 a.m.
at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri. A mass of Christian
Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from
Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan, Missouri with the Rev.
Father Paul Telken officiating.
Burial was held with full military honors at Jefferson Barracks
National Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home in
Sullivan, Missouri.
Glenda I. Hance
Glenda I. Hance, nee Burke, of Steelville, Missouri was born on
Thursday, April 10, 1952 in Rolla, Missouri to Joe Allen and Thelma
Ludie Trask Burke and passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at
the age of 61 years, 8 months and 11 days.
Glenda worked most recently as a seamstress at Paramount Apparel
Factory. She loved to sew as a vocation and also as a hobby. She
even taught her grandchildren how to sew. She enjoyed yard work,
reading, working puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren
and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Thelma Burke;
brothers, Sonny Burke and Johnny Burke; and sister, Kate (Junior)
Glore.
She is survived by her children, Dawn (Delbert) Callahan of
Cherryville, Missouri, Denise Taylor of Kingston, Oklahoma and Shon
(Angela) Burke of Steelville, Missouri; brothers and sisters, Leonard
(LouVonda) Burke of Cuba, Missouri, Jim (Dotty) Burke of St. James,
Missouri, LaVerna (James) Quinton of Cuba, Missouri and Lula Burke
(Bob Patterson) of Steelville, Missouri; nine grandchildren; four
great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Monday, December 23, 2013 from 3-7 p.m. and funeral
service at 7 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri
with Rev. Darren Dake officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri.
Eunice L. Nash
Eunice L. Nash nee Brown of Steelville, Missouri was born on Thursday,
March 9, 1961 to Kenneth Wendell Brown and Anna Belle Arnold Brown
and passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the age of 52 years,
9 months and 10 days.
Eunice was a devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother. She loved her
family and enjoyed cooking, sewing, folk art, and shopping for
treasures.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Leah Ann Nash.
She is survived by her sons, Rusty L. (Kelly) Nash of Steelville,
Missouri and Kenneth (Ann) Nash; brothers, Melvin Brown and David
Brown; sisters, Anna Mae (Perry) Vance, Esther (Herby) Bennett,
Roberta Lynn (Kevin) Kelly and Betty (Kenneth) Harnish; three
grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorial visitation was Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 2:30-3 p.m.
and Memorial Service at 3 p.m. at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
