On April 29, 1961 he was united in marriage to Betty Carol Bradshaw. Jim was a devoted Christian and member of Freewill Baptist Church in Salem, Missouri. His favorite pastime was sharing the word of the Lord with others.  During his working years he was employed as a driver by Poole Trucking Company and Becca Trucking Company, retiring after many years on the road.  After he retired, he enjoyed making picnic tables and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elfrieda Archer; and wife, Betty Archer. He is survived by three sons, James K. Leonard Cornick Leonard Cornick of St. James, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 4, 1913 to Walter and Lenora (Feldman) Cornick and passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in St. James, Missouri at the age of 99 years. Leonard was united in marriage to Mary Ann Hughes on April 23, 1938 and to this union three children were born. Leonard loved the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a sports enthusiast and he played softball, baseball, bowling and golf, with golf being his favorite sport. He was a charter member of the St. James Country Club and spent a few years there as the Golf Pro teaching golf. Leonard was a devoted to his family and enjoyed every moment he had to spend with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lenora Cornick; his wife of 71 years, Mary Ann in 1999; five brothers and three sisters. Leo Duncan Leo Duncan of Rolla, Missouri was born on January 28, 1936 in Vichy, Missouri to Ermil Newton and Ethel (Jurgensmeyer) Duncan and passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the age of 76 years. On June 22, 1957, he married Jo Ann Powderly in St. Louis, Missouri. Leo loved to hunt and fish. He was a farmer and enjoyed fixing fence. Before retirement, he was employed by Foremost Dairy for 26 years and Hiland Dairy for eight years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ermil and Ethel Duncan; his son, Danny Duncan in 1994. Gerald Dean Goff Gerald Dean Goff of Bourbon, Missouri was born June 15, 1922 in Adamsville, Texas to William Marshall Goff and Effie Katie Carroll and passed away, Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Life Care Center of Sullivan at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 27 days. Gerald married Joan Knost on February 2 1946 and to this union three children were born. Gerald was a devoted reader and wanted to understand the purpose of life and the reason for suffering. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on September 11, 1938. A highlight of Gerald’s career came in February of 1943 when he attended the first class of what was then called the “Watch Tower Bible College of Gilead” in South Lansing, New York. Although Gerald was never able to serve in a foreign country, he was assigned as a traveling representative of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society to visit groups or congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses throughout the state of Missouri. He moved his family from Kirkwood, Missouri in 1963 to help support a small group of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sullivan, Missouri.  Many Sullivan residents became accustomed to seeing Gerald stand outside the old “Aldi’s” store every Saturday morning, warmly greeting everyone who passed by and encouraging them to read the “Watchtower” and “Awake!” magazines. Gerald came from a family of musicians and he enjoyed singing, dancing and strumming the guitar.  He also had a special fondness for the Spanish language and spent many hours conducting Bible Study programs with area residents that spoke Spanish, thus laying the basis for a Spanish Bible Study group that now meets at the local Kingdom Hall in Sullivan, Missouri. In January of 2011, Gerald was diagnosed with moderate dementia of the Alzheimer’s type and as a result was moved to Victorian Manor Memory Care Unit of Cuba in April of 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan in November 2012; brothers, R.E. and Sidney; sisters, Lorene and Linnie; He is survived by a brother, Cecil J. Mary Ann Gregory Mary Ann Gregory (nee Warden) of Cuba, Missouri was born Monday, December 9, 1946 at Blackwell, Missouri and passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 66 years and 13 days. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Donald Gregory on May 1, 1965 at Potosi, Missouri and to this union three daughters were born. Mary Ann has been retired for several years but in her younger years she worked in the restaurant business, mowed grass, painted houses and was an excellent cook especially her biscuits. She enjoyed watching scary movies, Texas Walker Ranger, Clint Eastwood movies, NCIS, always kept a clean house and truly enjoyed all foods especially sweets, but what Mary Ann enjoyed most was spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and family. Mark Steven Hartzell Mark Hartzell of Cuba, Missouri was born in Bonne Terre, Mo to Melvin “Boone” and Lawana (Newcomer) Hartzell and passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan at the age of 57. He and Joyce Counts were married January 6, 1975 in Sullivan. Mark graduated from Sullivan High School in 1972 and moved to Kansas City to obtain a degree in auto mechanics at Midwest Technical School. He returned to Sullivan and worked at Pea Ridge till the mine closed. He then attended school at Linn Tech and earned a degree as a machinist and went to work for Boeing in Wichita, KS later returning to Sullivan where he found work at McDonell- Douglas in St. Louis. McDonell-Douglas later became Boeing and his department was bought by a company called GKN. He retired after 28 years of service and during witch he received several awards for excellent work. Mark was a very outgoing person he loved to camp and go trout fishing he especially liked stockcar races but his biggest loves were his two little dogs Macy and Merry. Mr. Hartzell is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joyce Counts Hartzell of the home; mother, Lawana Hartzell of Sullivan, Missouri; son, Timothy Joseph Thomas and wife Jennifer Janesko of Dresden Germany; daughter, Janey Marie Hartzell of St. Louis, Missouri; brother, James Hartzell and wife Judy of Sullivan, Missouri and a sister, Kelley Schoolcraft and husband Brett of Sullivan, Missouri; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Kade of Bourbon, Missouri, was born on December 8, 1929 in Koenigsberg, East Prussia and passed away on December 12, 2012 at the age of 83 years. On February 5, 1949 she was married to Helmut F. Kade in Ostrau, East Germany and to this union four children were born. Carola enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her family. Carola was extremely dedicated to her family and sharing words of love and encouragement to many people whenever possible. She also found pleasure in being with people, laughing, reading, listening to music and cooking. She loved animals and nature and will be remembered and cherished as a very loving, caring and generous woman. She believed in God and made her profession of faith in Jesus Christ. Nikki was a senior at the John F. Hodge High School in St. James, Missouri where she excelled academically and was successfully participating in the A+ Scholarship program and planned on attending college next fall. She was also athletically gifted and played an important part on the school dance team and soccer team. Nikki possessed a mature, poised, confident,and outgoing personality who attracted many friends. Nash and passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 in Salem, Missouri, at the age of 68 years. When he was in the 10th grade, the family moved from Kentucky to Missouri. He graduated from Parkway High School in 1962 and married Shirley Ann Craft, on January 26, 1963 and they had two children. During his kids’ school years, Larry was active in the PTA and served as president. He coached t-ball and after school sports. Larry worked 30 years at Chrysler and was a member of the United Auto Workers (UAW) union, before retiring as supervisor in 1992. Larry enjoyed hot rod cars, basketball and baseball. He enjoyed camping, trout fishing and water skiing. In 1999, Larry and Shirley moved to Davisville where they attended the Davisville Assembly of God Church. Larry will be remembered as a bighearted storyteller who loved to tell jokes and entertain his audiences. He enjoyed cooking for others, eating and entertaining. He was often the host for Wedding family dinners and reunions. He was famous for his fish frys, BBQs, pancake suppers and trash can cook outs and the accompanying storytelling. Wilma Gladys Wilkinson Wilma Gladys Wilkinson of Cherryville, Missouri was born in St. Genevieve, Missouri to Peter and Aurelia Hanson Minks and passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the age of 90 years. On September 19, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri, she married Fred D. Wilkinson. Wilma was saved at the Southside Assembly in 1953. When she attended the Hope Assembly in St. Louis, she was a Sunday school teacher, played the piano and sang. She and Fred attended Tower Grove Park Church Assembly and she was a Sunday school teacher. Later she attended the Center Ridge Pentecostal Church at Davisville, Missouri. She enjoyed being a mall walker. Fred and Wilma also loved to travel. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Center Ridge Pentecostal Church at Davisville, Missouri with Pastor Harrison Brown and Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Special music of “Amazing Grace” was sung and played by grandchildren and great grand- children. Other special music of “Just What Heaven Means to Me,” “She Still Remembers Jesus’ Name” and a medley of songs was sung and played by Bob and Carol Coleman. Committal prayer and burial were in the Martin-Trask Cemetery at Cherryville, Missouri. Casket bearers were Rodney Volner, Everett Phipps, Jr., Darrell Phipps, Roger Lee Boyd, Eric Blaise and Adam Phipps.
