Mary “Emma” James
Mary “Emma” James, nee Cassidy, of Steelville, Missouri was born
May 2, 1922 at Oak Hill, Missouri to John Henry and Clara Victory Morrison
Cassidy and passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Gibbs Care Center at
the age of 89 years.
On April 4, 1953 in Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Everett S. James
who preceded her in death on March 24, 1972.
Emma was a member of the Steelville First Baptist Church. She enjoyed
sewing for many years and working puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Cassidy; her
husband, Everett; seven brothers, Leonard Cassidy and wife Ruth, Glen
Cassidy and wife Uldene, Lawrence Cassidy, Herman Cassidy and wife Edith,
Fred Cassidy and wife Bernice, Oscar Cassidy and wife Fern and William Lee
Cassidy; two sisters, Nancy “Marie” Tucker and husband Harvey and Erma
Halbert and husband Albert; and brother-in-law, Richard James.
She is survived by one sister, Alta Mae Williams
and
husband Junior of Arnold, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Joyce Cassidy of
St. Louis, Missouri and Margaret James of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; nephews
and nieces, Richard Cassidy, Terry Halbert, Roger Tucker, Sherman Cassidy,
Greg Cassidy, Allan Cassidy, Curtis Cassidy, Clifton Williams, Linda Fay
Wilkinson, Crystal Cassidy and Carla Wingbermuehle; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Britton-
Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with John Britton
officiating. Special music of “Where the Roses Never Fade” and “I Don’t
need to Understand” was sung by Bob and Carol Coleman.
Interment was in the Freeman Cemetery at Cherryville, Missouri.
Casket bearers were Bruce Donal, Clifton Williams, Greg Cassidy, Dan
Halbert, Patrick Hodges and Mike Becker.
Arrangements under the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville,
Missouri.
Edna O. Little
Edna O. Little formerly of Cuba, Missouri, passed away December 20, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, three husbands,
one grandchild and one great grandchild.
She is survived by two children, Judy Scott ad Dale Graham.
Visitation was held from 1:30-3 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the
Valhalla Chapel with funeral ceremony to begin at 3 p.m.
Interment was private at the Valhalla Cemetery.
Jacobe James Price
Jacobe James Price of Bourbon, Missouri was born at St. Charles, Missouri
on June 21, 1985 and passed away on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the age
of 26 years.
Jake, as he was known by his family and friends, was raised in Bourbon,
Missouri and attended school there. At age 17 Jake became employed at
Paramount Headwear Apparel Company and eventually became a warehouse
manager. He also enjoyed working on the Isgrig farm and the outdoors,
especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed major sports, baseball and
football in particular.
On November 4, 2005 he was united in marriage to Leighanne Marie Adams
at Sullivan, Missouri and to the marriage a daughter was born.
Jake was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Bourbon and was recently
baptized at Blue Springs. He loved the Lord and was known as a loving
and kind-hearted man who always had open arms to help his fellow man.
He especially enjoyed playing games with his daughter, Olivia and making
people laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Leighanne Price nee Adams of Leasburg,
Missouri; one daughter, Olivia Marie Price of the family home; his
parents, Stanley and Debra Isgrig of Bourbon, Missouri; one brother,
Ryan Parnell of Bourbon, Missouri; three sisters, Shawna Bartle and
husband Tim of Sullivan, Trisha Parnell and Paul Schuler of Sullivan,
Missouri and Amanda Parnell of Bourbon, Missouri; parents-in-law, Don
and Jeannine Adams of Leasburg, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Eaton Funeral Home
in Sullivan, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday,
December 21, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church in Bourbon with Pastor Ed
Carter officiating.
Interment was in the Anthonies Mill Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
Arthur “Art” V. Sigler
Arthur “Art” V. Sigler of Steelville, Missouri was born on Sunday,
September 21, 1919 to Oscar and Iva Violet Jones Sigler in Dayton, Ohio
and passed away at Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri on Tuesday,
December 20, 2011 at the age of 92 years, 2 months and 29 days.
Art served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII and
was a Pearl Harbor survivor.
He married Elsie Doreen “Paddy” Craine on January 13, 1945 in Miami
Beach, Florida and to this union one daughter was born.
Art was employed with Brown Shoe Industry since 1949 and retired as
plant engineer. He later owned and operated the Western Auto Store from
1970-1981 in Steelville, Missouri. His hobbies were golfing and spending
time in his workshop. He was a member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church,
VFW Tabor Memorial Post, American Legion Post #345 of Steelville, and
Pearl Harbor Survivor’s Association.
Art spent the last eight years at Gibbs Manor where he devoted many
hours sitting with Paddy and loving her as he had all their married life.
When he wasn’t with her, he enjoyed the camaraderie at the “boys table”
in the dining room and the many activities in which they participated.
During this time there were several good friends who occupied the chairs
at the table. One of them Art became especially close with was Carl
Jessen. Art and Carl could be seen together proudly wearing their WWII
caps everywhere they went. Jim Bartlow, another WWII vet, joined them
later making the companionship even stronger. Ironically, all three of
them, Carl, Jim, and now Art have passed away within the last three months.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Iva Sigler; wife,
Paddy; brothers, Robert F. (Edna) Sigler and John Jack (Thellis) Sigler;
sister-in-law, Marjory (John F.) Pape.
He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Jill Sigler Barr of Columbia, MO;
grandchildren, Brian (Nichole) Earls of Columbia, Missouri; Heather Barr
Bean and Kevin Bean, all of Steelville, Missouri; great grandchildren,
Ashley Michelle, Kyle Vincent, Logan Bon and Paige Marie Bean, all of
Steelville, Missouri. He leaves his “family of friends” at Gibbs Care
Center including the wonderful staff who cared for him there, the
residents, and life-long friend, Paul Hogan.
Visitation was Friday, December 23, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. and funeral
service at 7 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with
Pastor Jerry Beers officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
Ronald L. White
Ronald L. White of St. James, Missouri was born on November 27, 1951 in
Rolla, Missouri to Elmer Earl and Phyllis Jean (Duckworth) White and passed
away on December 14, 2011 at the St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis,
Missouri at the age of 60 years and 17 days.
Ronald was united in marriage to Reta Mae Thomas on June 25, 1977 at the
First Baptist Church in St. James, Missouri.
Ronald worked for the Phelps County Highway Department for many years
and retired there.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Earl White; and one
brother, Elmer Earl White Jr.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Reta Mae White of St. James,
Missouri; mother, Phyllis Jean White of St. James, Missouri; one son,
Ronnie Elmer White of St. James, Missouri; one brother, Don White of
St. James, Missouri; one sister, Donna Brock of Leavenworth, Kansas; one
grandson, Joseph Lee White; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Jones
Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the
Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Mick Thrasher officiating.
Pallbearers were Josh Mankin, Ray Byrd, Tom Plank, Randy Adam, Ronnie
White and Gary McDowell with burial in the family plot in the Asher
Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James,
Missouri.
