Irvin Henry Althage
Irvin Henry Althage of Cuba, Missouri was born to Reinhard and Alvina
(Helmig) Althage on October 21, 1923 in Port Hudson, Missouri and
passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 at his home at the age of 89
years.
Irvin was united in marriage to Ruth Marie Hoemann on June 9, 1951
in New Haven, Missouri and to this union five children were born.
Irvin over the years worked for Orschelin Farm & Home Supply, Ed’s
Finer Foods and Washington Tractor Company all in Washington,
Missouri. He was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
in Cuba. He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking,
baking, barbecuing, traveling and making stained glass windows.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reinhard and Alvina Althage;
wife, Ruth Marie Althage; one brother, Allen Althage; one sister,
Ruth Behringer; one sister-in-law, Fae Althage; two brothers-in-law,
Francis and Roy Hoemann.
He is survived by his five children, Ronald and wife Belinda Althage
of St. James, Missouri, Donald Althage of Phoenix, Arizona, Barbara
and husband James Kaufhold of Cuba, Missouri, Sharon and husband
Scott Heiner of San Antonio, Texas, Kay and husband William Olson of
San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Cora and husband Emil Menke of Union,
Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; other relatives
and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 9-11 a.m. at
the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 11 a.m.
at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Joseph Pederson,
officiating.
Interment followed at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba,
Missouri.
Elsie J. Brake
Elsie J. Brake of Bourbon, Missouri was born at Sullivan, Missouri
on February 8, 1958 to Junior and Seline (Coplin) Britton and
passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the age of 55 years,
6 months and 14 days.
She attended school in Sullivan and on May 23, 1987 was married to
Ronald James Brake.
She was employed for 28 years at Meramec Industries and retired due
to ill health. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to yard sales,
fishing and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Junior and Seline Britton;
her husband, Ronald on September 7, 2012; and a sister, Patty Mastin.
She is survived by a son, R. J. Brake II of Bourbon, Missouri;
daughter, Sabrina Brake of Bourbon, Missouri; four brothers, David
and Dennis Britton, both of Sullivan, Missouri, Scott Britton of
Leasburg, Missouri and Larry Britton of Bourbon, Missouri; sister,
Teresa Voss of Sullivan, Missouri; two grandchildren, Miley Brake
and Brantley Whitworth; brother-in-law, Jim Isgriggs and wife
Anette of Sullivan, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Cremation services are under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home,
Sullivan, Missouri.
A family memorial service is scheduled in the near future.
Mary E. Gaskill
Mary E. Gaskill of Sullivan, Missouri was born on January 31, 1929
near Sullivan, Missouri to John and Lizzie (Taylor) Landing and passed
away on Monday, August 26, 2013 at the age of 84 years, 6 months
and 25 days.
She was a life-long resident of the Sullivan area and on
October 11, 1947 was married to Warren Gaskill.
Mary was employed for a time at Meramec Industries in Sullivan,
Missouri, but for the most part was a devoted wife and mother and
would also babysit outside of the home for other children. She
attended New Testament Baptist Church and was a member at Cave Spring
Baptist Church. She was known as a hard worker who enjoyed the
outdoors, tending her flower garden, cutting grass and canning
the vegetables out of the garden. She was known as an independent
woman and was fond of reading and helping with the cooking at church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lizzie Landing;
husband, Warren on June 27, 2003; two brothers, Earl and Carl
Landing; a great grandson, Bradley Booth; special niece, Sarah
Schatz and a beloved son-in-law, Larry Kincaid.
She is survived by two sons, Bob Gaskill and wife Terrie and Don
Gaskill and wife Christine, all of Sullivan, Missouri; two daughters,
Linda Kincaid of Sullivan, Missouri and Mary Ann Copling and husband
Bob of Leasburg, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Amy Kelly, Becky
Booth, David Copling, Jarrod Gaskill, Jennifer Gaskill, Grant Gaskill
and Sarah Gaskill; nine great-grandchildren; special nieces, Shirley
Schatz and Carla Beckett; sisters-in-law, Peggy and June Gaskill;
and a special friend, Patricia Tilley; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 9 a.m. until
time of service at 11 a.m. at the New Testament Baptist Church in
Sullivan, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on, Thursday,
August 29, 2013 from the New Testament Baptist Church in Sullivan,
Missouri with Pastor Charles Idelman and Bro. David Wright
officiating.
Interment was in the Cave Spring Cemetery, rural Sullivan, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home in
Sullivan, Missouri.
Randall Eugene Ray
Randall Eugene Ray of St. James, Missouri was born on
April 17, 1958 in Rolla, Missouri to Thomas Elza and Wanda L.
(Copeland) Ray and passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at the age
of 55 years, 4 months and 14 days.
Randall, known as Randy, grew up in St. James, Missouri and graduated
from John F. Hodge High School.
Randy was united in marriage to Donna Gray on July 26, 1980 at
Broadway Baptist Church in rural St. James, Missouri.
He worked at his family’s Shell and Texaco Gas Stations.
In 1981 Randy and Donna opened the Rays Tire and Service Center.
Randy was a people person and always had a sense of humor. Randall
loved to fish and had many fishing trips including trips to Canada.
Randy also enjoyed to hunt and always had a story about the big one
that got away. He was a collector of everything, and always had the
ability to locate prize items.
He also was on the board at Camp Brimshire for eight years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Elza and
Wanda L. Ray; and one nephew, Jordan Ray.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Donna L. Ray of St. James,
Missouri; two brothers, Jerry Ray and wife Linda of St. James,
Missouri and Dennis Ray and ex-wife Judith of Manatte, Florida;
father-in-law and mother-in-law, Doyle and Leora Gray of Vichy,
Missouri; sisters-in-law, Doris Gray and Howard Becklenberg of
Vichy, Missouri and Dianne and Brian Adams of St. James, Missouri;
brother-in-law, David Gray and Brenda Braidlow and her daughter
Kelly Herman; sister-in-law: Dena Coleman and husband Bill of
Steelville, Missouri; nephews, Jeff Ray and Jerry Ray and wife
Claudette, Morgan Adams, Michael Gray and wife Danee and Daniel
Gray; nieces, Jessica Ray, Miranda Adams and DeAnn Stringer and
husband Paul; great nieces, Abby Ray and great nephew, Justin Ray;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 1, 2013 from 3-8 p.m.
at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Services were held on Monday, September 2, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the
Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Walter Bud Sanders
officiating.
Pallbearers were Don Licklider, Tom Brown, Jeremiah Brown, Allen
Juern, Larry Lorts and Dave Moeslein.
Burial was in the Broadway Memorial Cemetery in rural St. James,
Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in
St. James, Missouri.
Mildred Alice Simpson
Mildred Alice Simpson of St. James, Missouri was born in St. Louis,
Missouri on March 26, 1925 to Antone and Laura (Lewis) Kozieja and
passed away August 24, 2013 at the age of 87 years.
She worked as a meat packer and was a longtime member of United Food
and Commercial Workers (UFCW). She enjoyed motorcycle riding, dancing,
boating and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antone and Laura Kozieja;
and her husband, Edward Simpson in 2009.
She is survived by her children, Jan Dixon of St. James, Missouri,
and Michael Simpson and wife Julie of Washington, Missouri;
grandchildren, Cindy, Randy, and Butch; brother, Robert Kozieja;
seven great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 prior to the service
from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the James & Gahr Mortuary,
St. James, Missouri.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 11:30 a.m.
at the James & Gahr Mortuary, St. James, Missouri, with Terry Brady
officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date in the Donnellson Cemetery
in Donnellson, Illinois.
Erma B. Eaton Thurmond
Erma B. Eaton Thurmond of Cuba, Missouri was born June 5, 1923 at
Seaton, Missouri to Frank and Mary (nee Hatcher) Happel and passed
away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the age of 90 years.
Erma was united in marriage to John E. Eaton in 1938 at Steelville
and to this union 10 children were born. John passed away in 1993
and in 1995 Erma was united in marriage to Kenneth Thurmond.
Erma spent her life taking care of her home, raising children,
gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, embroidering and mushroom
hunting. She made quilts for her family and always enjoyed listening
to music especially Elvis’s Christian music. In her older years she
enjoyed word puzzles and going to the Cuba Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Happel;
husbands, John Eaton in 1993 and Kenneth Thurmond in 2007; one
daughter, Bertha Taber; two grandchildren, Sherry Callahan and
Sara Taber; one son-in-law, Paul Myers; one daughter-in-law,
Shirley Eaton; one brother, Charles Happel; and one sister,
Catherine Grushwan.
She is survived by children, Johnny Eaton of Steelville, Missouri,
Helen and husband Ken Pyatt of Owensville, Misouri, Mary and husband
Claude Pyatt of Cuba, Missouri, Maxine Myers of Cuba, Missouri,
Gerald and wife Susie Eaton of Cuba, Missouri, Lloyd and wife Carol
Eaton of Cuba, Missouri, Peg and husband Junior Callahan of
Steelville, Missouri, David and wife Angie Eaton of Cuba, Missouri,
Glenda and husband Joe Stubblefield of Cuba, Missouri; son-in-law,
Dean Taber of St. James, Missouri; step son, Tom and wife Linda
Isaac of St. James, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, Johnny, Michael,
Rick, Karen, Donna, Debbie, Patrick “PJ”, Michelle, Shawn, Matt,
Jeff, Joe, Leroy, Leon, Lucas, Mark and Jason; 33 great grand-
children; two brothers, Louis and wife Mary Happel of Cuba, Missouri
and Ken and wife France Happel of St. James, Missouri; five sisters,
Lola and husband Jack Bartle, Pearl Norris, Mary Lou Martin, all of
St. James, Missouri and Norma Russau of Carthage, Missouri; seven
great great grandsons; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Friday, August 30, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at the Mizell
Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the
Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba with the Pastor Don Martin and
Bro. John Ripley. Special music was “Stroll Across Heaven with You”
by David Callahan and “Precious Memories” by Elvis.
Pallbearers were grandsons Johnny, Michael, Rick, Pat, Shawn, Matt,
Jeff, Joe, Leroy, Leon, Lucas, Jason and Mark.
Interment and prayers followed at the New Home Cemetery, Steelville,
Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba,
Missouri.
Carl Eugene Warnol
Carl Eugene Warnol of Dixon, Missouri was born on September 1, 1959
at Harvey, Illinois to William Theron and Thelma Viola (Wagoner)
Warnol and passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at the age of
53 years, 11 months, and 22 days.
Carl was united in marriage on July 23, 2004 at Dixon, Missouri to
Cindy Marie Hines.
Carl was raised in the Apostolic Faith Church, Jerome and was
baptized early in life. He was a member and past master of
Arlington Lodge No. 346 A.F. & F.M., was a member and past
president of the International Union of Fire Fighters
IAFF No. 3905, and had volunteered for both the Dixon Fire
Department and the Dixon Ambulance. He had been employed with
the Rolla City Fire Department for 22 1/2 years retiring in
June of 2007.
He and his wife are the current owners of CW’s Gun and Knife
and Action I Loans, Rolla, Missouri. Carl loved to hunt and float
the Gasconade.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Thelma Warnol;
one brother, William Chesley Warnol; two sisters, Erma Louella
Warnoland Neoma Bernice Sommer; and one brother-in-law, Norman Evans.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Warnol of Dixon, Missouri; two
sons, Clinton Warnol of St. James, Missouri and Michael George and
wife Adelle of Vienna, Missouri; two daughters, Lindsey Warnol of
Jefferson City, Missouri and Jennifer George of Rolla, Missouri;
one brother, Donald Warnol and wife Tina of Dixon, Missouri; four
sisters, Barbara Warnol, Kathryn Warnol, and Carolyn Jean Evans,
all of Rolla, Missouri and Relora Wills of Dixon, Missouri; two
brothers-in-law, George “Bud” Sommer of Dixon, Missouri and Bill
Hines of Flat, Missouri; six grandchildren, Makiah, Taylor, Koby,
Billy, Kamden and Salene with Tanner Lee Eugene expected in October;
one great grandson, Treyton; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 with a
Masonic service under the auspices of the Arlington Lodge
No. 346 A.F. & A.M., Dixon, Missouri at 7 p.m. and 10-11 a.m. on
Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral in Dixon,
Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday,
August 27, 2013 in the Dixon Chapel of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral
Homes with Pastor Don Arthur of the Apostolic Faith Church in
Jerome, Missouri and Rev. Ron Smith, Assistant Fire Chief of Rolla,
officiating.
Interment was in the Warnol Family Cemetery in Dixon, Missouri.
Pallbearers were Jeff Breen, Ryan Mckay, Steve Huffman, Mike Buchler,
Allen Michaels, Scott Proffitt and John Marti. Honorary pallbearers
were Terry Eyrtel, Don Jordan, Don Plake, Mike Manley, Larry Seest
and Mike Crowley.
Arrangements under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of the
Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes.
