VIOLA MINNIE SHARP Viola Minnie Sharp (nee Conlin) was born March 10, 1895 in Crawford County, Missouri to the union of John Conlin and Loretta Teresa Conlin (nee Moss), and departed this life at Barnes Hospital on July 17, 1986, at the age of 91 years, four months and seven days. She died of cancer. Viola was united in marriage November 15, 1913 to Clarence Ray Long and to this union two children were born. Clarence preceded her in death on March 1, 1917. On April 15, 1921, Viola was united in marriage to David Franklin Sharp and to this union six children were born. Frank preceded her in death August 15, 1963. Those who survive to mourn her departure are her children, Geneva Crabtree, Eugene Long, Frances Martin, Beulah Schlife, Paul Sharp, Viola Mulder, Leroy Sharp, her sister, Florence Brewer, brother- in-law, sisters-in-law, sons and daughter-in-law, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Viola was also preceded in death by her son Walter Sharp and her grandson Jeffrey Limbaugh. Star services were conducted Friday evening by the Eastern Star chapter No. 398. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 19 at Britton Chapel, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Thomas Bray officiating, assisted by Rev. John Sheldon. Interment was in the Kinder Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Roy L. Manning, Warren G. Hartman, David D. Sharp, David D. Sharp II, Frank Sharp and Paul Sharp II. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Limbaugh and Ronald Schroeder. Viola was baptized into the Shepherd Hills Baptist Church and later transferred her membership to the First Baptist Church, Cuba, Missouri, and remained a member until the time of her passing. She was a member of the Golden Mariners of the First Presbyterian Church, the Eastern Star Chapter No. 398, the Ozark Garden Club and the American Legion Auxiliary No. 522. She was a past Noble Grand of the Rebekahs No. 739 and helped organize the Riverside Extension Club in 1957 where she served four intermittent terms as president. She was awarded a lifetime membership to the Cuba Chamber of Commerce and in 1966 was the recipient of the Senior Citizens Award given by the Seminar Club of Missouri. Viola lived her entire life in and around the Cuba area, and she will be well-remembered by many, for years to come for her contributions to the Cuba Community.
