GLEN DEWEY COURTNEY Glen Dewey Courtney of Rt. 4, Salem, Missouri, was born September 13, 1898, at Galt, Missouri, a son of the late George and Nettie (Welch) Courtney and passed away September 9, 1987, in the Lincoln Manor Nursing Home, Jefferson City, Missouri, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 26 days. On January 15, 1936, Glen was united in marriage to Clara Swyers, in Salem, Missouri and to this union five children were born. On April 15, 1967, he was married to Robbie Carpenter and there was one daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, George F. Courtney in 1948 and his mother, Nettie Courtney in 1902 and his one brother, Lyle Courtney in 1973. Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Robbie of Rt.4, Salem, Missouri; his six children, Connie and husband Al Wallen of Meta, Missouri; Bob Courtney and wife Phyllis, of Wagno, Oklahoma; Cliff Courtney and wife Hazel of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Nell and husband Bob Brown of Zion, Illinois; Joe Courtney of Round Lake Beach, Illinois and Missi and husband Steve Willis of Salem, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Dana Courtney of Palm Springs, California, other relatives and friends. Glen Dewey Courtney lay in state after 2 P.M. Thursday, September 10, 1987 at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were 11 A.M. Friday, September 11, 1987 in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating. Committal prayers and interment were in Wesco Cemetery, Wesco, Missosuri. Pallbearers were John Coleman, Jack Edgar, Joe Hammond, Dave Johnson, Gene McCommis and Julius Swyers. All arrangements were under the direction of Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
