ARDEN HERTEL Arden Philip Hertel, son of the late Frederick Arno and Julia May Pennock was born on July 8, 1907 in Crawford Co, Missouri and departed this life on June 2, 1987 at the Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri having attained the age of 79 years, 10 months and 24 days. A.P. was a lifelong resident of Washington and Crawford Counties. He was self employed as a farmer and saw mill owner. On November 28, 1955 at Sullivan, Missouri he was united in marriage to Estella M. Briggs. Surviving him are his wife, Estella, a daughter, Shirley Bayless and husband Jerry of Rolla, Missouri, two sons, Robert Hertel of Bourbon, Missouri, Thomas Hertel and wife Carolyn of Bourbon, Missouri, a step-son, Edward Taylor and wife Lois of Tallahassee, Florida, three sisters, Edna Barham of Sarasota, Florida, Fairy Bryan of Bourbon, Missouri, Nancy Britt of Green Valley, Arizona, a brother, Frank Hertel of St. Charles, Missouri, eight grandchildren, Cindy, Vicki, David, Jenny, Kristi, Tedd, Tim and Cynthia, two great grandchildren, Clint and Beth, other relatives and many friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice White and two brothers, Fred and Carl Hertel. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 1987 from Hassebroek's Bourbon Chapel in Bourbon with Gene Kimker officiating. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Butts, Missouri. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Hassebroek's, Bourbon, Missouri.
