DELBERT GRAHAM Delbert Graham, 72, of Topeka died Wednesday, July 11, 1990, at a Topeka retirement center. Mr. Graham was a teacher and principal in Topeka Unified School District 501 for 32 years before he retired in 1980. He taught in Crawford County rural schools before he entered the Army in 1941. He was discharged in 1945. In 1946 he came to Topeka where he taught at Lincoln School for two years. He later was principal at Quinton Heights, Lowman Hill, Gage, McCarter and McEachron elementary schools. He was born March 10, 1918, in Girard, the son of Edwin B. and Uma L. Brees Graham. He attended Pittsburg State Teachers College and received his bachelor's degree from Washburn University in Topeka. He Later received a master's degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, where he also worked on his doctorate. Mr. Graham was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Kansas and Topeka education organizations. He was a life member of the National Education Association and the National Elementary Principal Association. He was married to Alta Herlocker on September 13, 1941, in Girard. She Died March 12, 1979. He later married Maxine Gardner Gladfelter in Topeka. She Survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Pamela Sue Jackson, Hot Springs, Ark. Debra Ann Graham, Houston, TX, and twins Danielle Marie Graham and Michelle Nicole Graham, both of Topeka; a stepdaughter Patricia Reed, Grand Forks, N.D. a stepson, Lee Gladfelter, Madrid, IA; a sister, Alice Hummel, Wichita and six grandchildren. Services will be at 11 am Monday at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home. Graveside services will be a 4 pm Monday in Girard Cemetery.
