Eda Rhodus Eda Margaret Rhodus, wife of the late Anton W. Rhodus, and daughter of the late John Henry and Minnie Dora Frederick Ahrens passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis County, Monday, May 21, 1990, at the age of 75 years. Eda was born January 14, 1915 at Cooper Hill, and was raised there as a child. On May 9, 1934, she was married to Anton Rhodus at New Haven, and to this marriage two daughters were born. M. Rhodus preceded her in death in August of 1980. Mrs. Rhodus had been a resident of the Bourbon community since the 1930s and was a devoted member of Concordia Lutheran Church. Eda was involved there in the midweek Bible Class, Society of Priscilla, and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed her church activities as well as entertaining in her home, making quilts and crafts. Surviving are: two daughters, Marie Collett of Lee's Summit, and Alice Black of Higginsville; three brothers, Cleo and John Ahrens, both of Sullivan, and Robert Ahrens of DeSoto; two sisters, Betty Blum of Bourbon and Norma Allen of Crestwood, Ill.; four grandchildren, Sean McConnell, Travis Black, Myra Carlson and Tina Thurman; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Mrs. Rhodus was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Stanford Ahrens, and by one sister Mildred Matejicek. Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, from the Concordia Lutheran Church of Bourbon, with Pastor Frank Coniglio officiating. Interment was in Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
