CORENE A. COURTWAY (1) Corene A. Courtway was born in Washington County, Mo., on July 14, 1909, the daughter of the late Felix Courtouise and his wife, Annie Miller Courtouise, and passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1991 at the age of 82 years. She received her schooling in Washington County and grew to young womanhood there. She was united in marriage to Raymond Courtway and twelve [changed to: "fourteen"] children were born to this union. Mrs. Courtway was a member of the Pentacostal Church. She had been employed in shoe work and for a number of years she worked for a garment company. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Raymond, in 1973, and in 1979 she married Mr. Joseph Courtway. (2)For the past several years she had made here [sic] home here in Union, Mo. [Added: "She also was preceeded in death by 2 sons Clarence & David."] Those who survive are her husband, Mr. Joseph Courtway. Five daughters, Mildred Fox and Geraldine Briggs, both of Mo., Joyce Todaro of Union, Mo.; Mary Turntine of Leasburg, Mo.,and Lorna Revelle of Potosi, Mo. Seven sons, Michael Courtway of Union, Mo., Joe Courtway and Henry Courtway, both of St. Clair, Mo., William Courtway of Leasburg, Mo., Clyde Courtway of Illinois.* [Typed in margin: "*Lawrence of Potosi, Mo."] and Raymond Courtway of Richwoods, Mo. Thirty-five grand-children and numerous great grandchildren. One sister, Lizzie Rulo of Richwoods, Mo., and three brothers, Albert Courtouise of Richwoods, and Louis and Ray Courtouise, both of Illinois. Nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Nov. 7, 1991, from the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union,Mo., at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Jimmie L. Jorden. Interment followed in the Horein Cemetery at Richwoods, Mo. Joseph married first Corene's sister, Lula or Luly Courtway.]
