Valvada G. Mercer of Bourbon passed away Saturday, May 23, 1992, at the age of 76 years. Mrs. Mercer was born January 28, 1916 at Anthonys Mill and was the daughter of Miscal and Sarah Jane Record Greenlee. She was a lifelong resident of the Anthonys Mill/Bourbon areas and had worked at Paramount Cap Company for several years as well as being employed as a waitress in restaurants in the area. Mrs. Mercer was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Bourbon. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Bill Houston of Bridgeton, Missouri; one brother, Cliff Greenlee of Bourbon; five grandchildren, Merry, Jeffrey and Joseph Houston, Marie and Melinda Mercer; three great-grandchildren, Curtis and Alissa Mercer and Dustin Houston; a daughter-in-law, Mildred Mercer; other relatives and friends. Mrs. Mercer was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Mercer; two brothers Roby and Clarence Greenlee, and four sisters, Goldie Schmidt, Estora Dorson, Deveda Dace and Florence Mercer. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 1992 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor James Huitt officiating. Interment was in Hardy Cemetery, Bourbon.
