CHARLES GLEN GRAY Charles Glen Gray was born December 19, 1913, at Cherryville, Missouri, a son of the late James Gahrfield and Della May Cassidy Gray and passed away December 26, 1993, in the Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Missouri, at the age of 80 years and 7 days. January 31, 1940, Glen was united in marriage to Minnie Marie McMillen, in the office of Judge Halbrook in Salem, Missouri and to this union one son, Charles Lee and one daughter, Sarah Jeanne, were born. Glen served in the CCC during the 1920’s. He and Minnie made their first home at Keysville, later they moved to a home on Euclid Street in Steelville. After his retirement from the Crawford County Road District, they moved into their present home across from the community center in Steelville. They have enjoyed over fifty-three years together. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Ethel Gray, an infant son, Charles Lee Gray, an infant grandson, four infant brothers, one infant sister and two sisters, Ruth Perry, Dorothy Callahan and one brother, Earl Gray, who was killed during World War II. Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife, Minnie of the home in Steelville; one daughter, Sarah Jeanne and husband Robert Gatrell of Steelville, Missouri; two granddaughters, Lori and husband Rob Viehman and Bobbi and husband Barry Johnson, all of Neosho, Missouri; two great granddaughters, Endi Anna and Justess Marie Viehman also of Neosho, Missouri; two sisters, Opal and husband Clarence Turnbough of St. James, Missouri and Helen Francis of Steelville, Missouri; three brothers, Elmer Gray and wife Edna of Steelville, Missouri; Lawrence Gray and wife Maxine and Russell Gray and wife Virginia, all of St. Louis, Missouri; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lee and Jean McMillen of Fenton, Missouri; Floyd and Maxine McMillen of Steelville, Missouri; Maloy and Barbara McMillen of St. Ann, Missouri; Eugene and Virginia McMillen of St. James, Missouri; Nadine Nichols and Edna Clonts, of St. James and Dale McMillen of Dexter, Missouri; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Charles Glen Gray lay in state after 4 P.M. Monday, December 27, 1993, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 1 P.M. Tuesday, December 28, 1993, in the Britton chapel with Rev. Susan Guyer Birch officiating. Musical selections were provided by vocalist Jerry Beers and organist Sharon Hardecke. Committal prayers and interment were in Keysville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. Pallbearers were Lawrence Gray, Barry Johnson, Terry Jones, Maloy McMillen, Clarence Turnbough and Rob Viehman.
